In May 2021, the CBC reported that the remains of 215 children had been discovered at the former site of the Kamloops Indian Residential School in British Columbia. More such ‘discoveries’ at other former residential schools followed.
While it is true that terrible things happened at residential schools, the headlines about these supposed “mass graves” were not. No remains had been discovered. There was no excavation.
When MLA Dallas Brodie pointed out that the story was unfounded, BC Conservative Party leader, John Rustad, kicked her out of caucus.
