  • A Good Ancestor

What does it mean to be called by God when the destination is unknown and the outcome is uncertain? Genesis 12 gives us one of the most pivotal moments in all of Scripture, a text scholars have called a fulcrum for the entire biblical story. Here, we encounter Abram, an ordinary person among millions, who receives an extraordinary call. God does not accept resumes, and Abram does not audition for the role. He is simply called. And that call is breathtaking in its openness: leave everything behind and go to a land I will show you. No map. No timeline. No guarantee of arrival. What we discover in this story is that faith is not about having all the answers before we take the first step. It is about trusting God further than we can see. The call of Abram becomes a mirror for our own lives, reminding us that God is still calling ordinary people into something far greater than themselves. As we reflect on what it means to answer that call, we are invited to consider where God might be leading us, even when the path ahead is not fully visible.

  • WHAT ARE YOU REALLY WORSHIPPING?

What does it mean to truly choose faith, not just inherit it? This message takes us back to a pivotal moment in Israel's history, when Joshua gathered the people at Shechem, the very place where God first made promises to Abraham, and called them to renew their covenant with God. The central insight here is striking and counter-cultural: before Joshua asks anything of the people, he reminds them of everything God has already done. The story of God's faithfulness comes first, and our response flows from that. This reframes how we think about faith entirely. We do not follow God to earn favor; we follow because we have already received it. Grace comes before obligation. That same pattern speaks directly to us today, whether we are thinking about how we give, how we serve, or simply how we show up in our daily lives. We are not starting something new; we are continuing a story that was already in motion long before us, and we are invited to carry it forward.

  • The Ten Commandments

What happens when two of the most foundational concepts in the Christian life — the Ten Commandments and stewardship — are brought into the same conversation? It turns out, quite a lot. This message invites us to rethink everything we thought we knew about both. The Ten Commandments, given to a people freshly delivered from slavery, were never meant to be a heavy-handed list of restrictions. They were a gift — a framework for living as truly free people. When we understand that God pursued Israel, carried them on eagle's wings, and declared them precious before a single commandment was spoken, the entire tone of those commands changes. They become an expression of love, not a demand for compliance. That same lens transforms how we think about our financial giving. True stewardship is not about calculating the minimum we owe. It is about responding to a God who loved us first and asking ourselves how we could possibly not give generously in return. This message challenges us to examine our priorities, our calendars, and our finances — and to ask whether our lives reflect the God we say we follow.
