Karin Lambrechtse is an ex-professional dancer, and now works as the performance nutritionist and food-coach for the Dutch road cycling team, Jumbo Visma. She is also the author of "Sportables", a snack recipe book specifically for various types of athletes.

The second half of our conversation with Shawn. Continuing on with other works for screen, Shawn tells us of his TV broadcast performances with Pilobolus. He also goes on to share some of his own creative endeavors and aspirations, as well as motivations and outlooks in dance. Closing with a creative task inspired by his work with Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui.

The first of a 2 part conversation with Shawn Fitzgerald Ahern, choreographic assistant to Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui. Shawn tells us about working with the unconventional U.S dance company, Pilobolus, as well as his dance and creative assistant work with Sidi Larbi Cherkoui at Eastman. He also shares some details from his experiences working with celebrities, including partnering with Emma Watson in the Hollywood film "Little Women" (2019).

We are extremely excited to welcome Nico Monaco as our inaugural guest on the podcast. Nico is a former dancer and now rehearsal director for Akram Kahn Dance company and in this conversation he shares his experiences as a dancer and rehearsal director, as a maker during the quarantine period, and some personal anecdotes about his time away from dance.

Catching up on some of the things that are difficult for dancers during this pandemic, we found ourselves having a discussion that centred around the subjectivity of dance, and filtering the judgement of external sources as well as our own.

How are people primarily experiencing dance in mainstream media and pop culture?

We discuss the cross-over of artists from the commercial industry to contemporary & theatrical environments, and vice versa.

We look at how people are seeing dance and the effect this could have on their perception of the artform, as well as  a few different ways people are getting exposure to contemporary dance through pop mediums. 

What's the best way to share dance today? With social media keeping us all connected during this time of quarantine, we look at how it contributes to shaping our perception of dance. For the first time, its necessary for companies to unlock the full creative and promotional value of social media, individuals are publishing content on the likes of Instagram, and Tik Tok dances are getting regular people moving

With Covid-19 keeping theaters closed, film is our only window to view dance performances. We compare four filmed works of dance, and look at how adaptation to screen can effect the craft.
