Food For Thought Friday
Author: Andrew Pearson is a performer, choreographer, producer, and dance/movement educator based in Los Angeles. He has been presenting work in LA for over 10 years and has been invited to share his work throughout the US as well as at the Gdansk International Dance Festival in Poland. Andrew was with LA Contemporary Dance Company for 6 years where he taught, choreographed, and performed, including engagements in Buenos Aires and New York City. Additional credits include performances with the LA Philharmonic, the FIAC Art Faire in Paris, and exhibitions at MOCA and LACE. In addition to his creative work, Andrew has taught guest classes at college programs both nationally and internationally and is currently on faculty at The American Musical and Dramatic Academy (AMDA) as well as working as the Los Angeles Program Coordinator for Saint Mary’s College of California’s LEAP Program.

Author: Megan Glynn Zollinger is an Associate Professor of Dance and the Dance Program Coordinator at California State University, Chico. She holds an MFA in Dance from the University of California, Irvine, and a BA in Dance from Chapman University. Megan is an educator, choreographer, director, and writer. Prior to Chico, she was an Assistant Professor of Dance and the Director of the BFA Dance Program at Colorado Mesa University. Her former students have been seen on television shows such as Live to Dance, America’s Best Dance Crew, America’s Got Talent, and So You Think You Can Dance. Technique Tuesday
Author: Katie Flashner, a.k.a. The Girl with the Tree Tattoo, is a ballroom dancer and blogger. Her mission is to inspire and motivate dancers to take ownership of their dance journeys, so they can connect with who they truly are and perform with greater confidence and joy.
Katie has been studying ballroom dance since 2012 and has successfully competed as an amateur ballroom dancer since 2014, most recently winning the World Champion title in American Smooth. Since starting her blog in 2015, Katie has welcomed thousands of visitors who value her openness and willingness to share the good, the bad, and the awkward of her journey while shedding light on the rarely addressed mental and emotional aspects of being a ballroom dancer.
In addition to writing on her blog, Katie has published several books and journals designed to guide dancers on their dance journeys. She regularly contributes articles to Sheer Dance magazine and various publications on Medium, and has also been featured in DanceBeat magazine, Dancesport Place, Dance Comp Review, Dance Advantage, and American Dancer magazine, among others. Her latest book, The Solo Practice Guide for Ballroom Dancing, received over 4 stars in Amazon reviews.
Katie lives in Orange County, California with her two dogs and enjoys watching the extended versions of The Lord of the Rings when she isn’t dancing or writing.
