Daniel Robison's Input on Today's Devotion

Sometimes, no matter what we do, we are going to go through struggles.  Relationships are going to have their ups and downs, sickness is going to strike us and our job situation may hit an unexpected turn.  In all of this we need to trust God to deliver us.  The other day my wife and I were watching The Pursuit of Happyness with Will Smith and his son.  In the story Jayden's character tells the father a story of a man that was in a flood and a boat comes by, I remember this story because I've told it many times.

 

As the man sees the water start to rise a truck comes by and the driver says, "Come with us, the water is only going to get higher." The man replies, "God will save me!"  The truck leaves,  Later, when the water was chest high a boat came by and the driver said, "Come with us, the water is only going to get higher."  The man replied, "I will be fine, my God will save me."  One more time the water was now almost to the top of the roof and as the man stood on the roof a helicopter flew overhead and the driver announced, "Come with us, the water is only going to get higher."  To which the man replied, "No, my God will save me."  Soon the water over took the house and the man passed away.  In Heaven as he stood at the throne of God he asked God, "My faith was in you, why did you not save me?"  To which God replied, "What are you talking about? I sent you a truck, a boat and a helicopter!"

 

You see sometimes we think we have it all right but we need to have deep-rooted faith so that we can see the signs of God as they're put in front of us.  How do we do that?  Spend time each day with God studying his word, praying to him and spending quiet time just listening.  My prayer is that you take some time today to do that and watch your faith grow.

Daniel Robison's Input on Today's Devotion

Jesus paid it all, all to him I owe, sin had left a crimson stain he washed it white as snow.  That song written in 1865 by Elvina M. Hall has a powerful message that helps us to realize that, though Christ, our debts have been paid and we can spend eternity with the Father by just accepting the free gift of Jesus.  We try to over complicate it but it really is that simple.  You see all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.  No one is perfect and even Jesus said, "No one is good but God."  Before Christ there were sacrifices that had to be made and rituals that people had to go through to be forgiven of their sin.  Because of Christ we just need to accept him as our Lord and Savior and we will be saved.

What about you?  Have you turned you life over to Christ today? Have you accepted God's free gift of salvation through Jesus?  If not, why not?  What's holding you back?  My prayer for you is that you take the time today to ask Christ into your life if you haven't already.  Ask God to forgive you of your sins and let Christ enter your life today so he can wash those crimson stained sins as white as snow.

Daniel Robison's Input on Today's Devotion

The Bible tells us that when we get to Heaven, God will wipe every tear from our eyes.  But why are we crying?  I found it interesting one speaker said that they thought the reason we would be crying in Heaven is that God will show us the path he wanted us to lead and we will be sad that we decided to take our own path and not follow God's.  We each have unlimited potential and, with God, all things are possible.  So why do we take our own path?

Maybe it's that path of least resistance.  Maybe it's easier for us to "do our own thing".  Maybe we're just stubborn.  God has the perfect plan that he has laid our for you.  He has great and mighty things that he wants you to accomplish.  Today ask God to reveal his plan to you and give you the courage to follow through with it.  He can easily put you back on the path that he would have you go but realize this, you may have to give up a lot to follow his path.  Ask for the wisdom to recognize his calling and follow him today.

Daniel Robison's Input on Today's Devotion

I remember learning ventriloquism.  I was very young and had a lot of time on my hands.  I fooled around with it but never really got serious until I got my first booking at the age of 13.  I thought to myself, now I really need to learn how to talk without moving my lips.  So I dedicated my time to make sure I was better at it than I originally was.  The struggle was hard and the practice was difficult but I didn't look at the daily grind but at the final outcome.  That's what today's devotion is about.  Looking at the final outcome.  We should not be concerned about how people feel about us and the persecution that we go through as Christians living Christian lives.

Be sure that you are showing love to all and not condemning them but, in love, sharing with them your witness and the gospel when they ask.  Many time we are willing to point out where people are wrong but that's not our place.  That is where the Holy Spirit comes in.  Sure, if they ask your opinion of a sinful lifestyle that they're leading you should share, in love, your beliefs.  But don't condemn.  Pray for them and ask to Holy Spirit to guide them.  And when you feel persecuted for your beliefs remind yourself that our rewards are not of this world.

Daniel Robison's Input on Today's Devotion

I have never had any severe things happen to me in life and for this I am extremely thankful.  But I have known many who have lost children before their time because of different things and this gives me pause.  I've seen good Christian people have their faith questioned as they get mad at God for what has happened and I can't say as I blame them.  Today I look at my beautiful grandchildren who mean the world to me.  Precious, rowdy, fun, full of energy.  I pray for them constantly.  When I consider something ever happening to any of my family it makes me realize how blessed I've been to not have my faith tested in this way.  I can see how people ask "Is God There?"

It's human nature to want to see, hear, touch, smell to make sure it's real.  And when people read the old testament and see how God showed his presence to Israel during the Exodus from Egypt we sit back and wonder why God doesn't show his existence today.  Sure we can use all of the canned  cliche statements.  You see God in nature.  He lives inside me. I see him every day in the eyes of my children and grandchildren.  But nonbelievers really don't care to hear any of those answers.  They've heard them all before.  They want physical proof and I understand.  So did Thomas and when Jesus finally did appear to him he told him, "Blessed are those that have not seen and still believe."  It amazes me that the same people that question the existence of God did not physically see the earth when it was created or see animals "evolve" but believe that the earth is millions of years old based on faulty scientific testing.  They put their faith in the same people who can't tell us whether eggs or a burger are good for us or not to tell us how old the earth is.

Today ask God to help you and give you the right thing to say when people as you how we know if God exists.  Spend time in his word and ask for wisdom.

Daniel Robison's Input on Today's Devotion

The name it - claim it attitude is running a muck in today's society.  Many "pastors" claiming that if you become a follower of Jesus that you will have cars, money, power and a nice home.  If you don't have these thing then you must be out of Christ's will.  Googling some of the famous speakers of today's homes it's no wonder they talk this way.  It a rationalization of how they live their life.  I'm not saying that all popular pastors are like that and you can tell the difference from the way they talk.  For example, Billy Graham lived in a modest home as well as some today such as Tony Evans and Alistair Begg.

 

God has blessed some with success and others who may be even more in his will, struggle their whole lives.  Why is that?  They're building treasures in Heaven.  Let's face it, we get 100 awesome years on this world if we are blessed to live that long.  We will spend eternity in Heaven.  Why not do everything that we can to build up our treasures there.  I'm sure Paul was in God's will when he was in prison but he was still happy.  Jesus said that he came that we might have life to the full but what is that fullness that he's talking about.  I believe it's what Paul said in Phillipians 4:12-13, "  I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. I can do all this through him who gives me strength."

Daniel Robison's Input on Today's Devotion

Routine, routine, routine.  Sometimes that word can be very positive and other times negative. When we're stuck in a rut with our daily routine and aren't willing to accept any change in our lives then our ROUTINE can actually dampen our success and stop us from utilizing all of our potential.  On the other hand, if we get up every morning and spend time with the Lord in his word and in prayer, this ROUTINE is good for the soul and will grant you wisdom and help you in your daily life.

What about you?  Do you have a daily routine with God.  Are you a morning person (I certainly am not!) or are you someone who does best in the evening.  May I suggest do your best to start your day out with God.  If you are not already doing so, start by getting up 1/2 hour earlier and find a good devotional like Our Daily Bread and read it, then spend a couple minutes with God talking to him and asking him to give you wisdom throughout the day with all of the decisions you make.  If your days seem to be easier by starting them out with God, let me know by emailing me at [email protected]

We've all been there.  Attending a church whose methods of worship are a little extreme for our taste.  Some worship in quite adoration to God.  Others shout AMEN and raise their hands.  Even more will dance and clap their hands.  How ever the spirit leads, this is how you should worship the Lord.  David got naked and danced in the streets.  PLEASE, keep your clothes on!!  But as their are different types of music there are also different types of worship.  

Are you a classic worshiper? Do you like the quiet and solemn form of worship where it's quietly between you and God? Maybe you're a country worshiper.  A little more upbeat and an AMEN to the sermon every once in a while and even clapping to the music.  Dare I say you might be a rock & roll worshiper.  All out dancing praising and singing as loud as you can to praise Jesus.  What ever form of worshiper you are take the time today to worship Jesus how ever the spirit leads.  Maybe even get out of your comfort zone a little and try something new.

Daniel Robison's Input on Today's Devotion

 

I'll do fine on my own.  I have talent, I have education, I have skill to pay the bills.  But what happens when tragedy strikes.  Then we call out to God.  We were so bold about ourselves and our abilities until something happened when we needed God then we called out to him.  Can you think of a time when this has happened to you?  You see, we should always talk to God and dedicate each day to him including your talents.  Only then will we truly be blessed.  God gave you talents but not to use for your own selfish desires.  He wants you to use your talents to glorify him and further his kingdom.

Until we start seeking God's kingdom first we will not actually know our purpose and will not have full potential of our talents.  Today ask God to utilize your talents to further his kingdom.
