A newly recorded version of one of my most popular songs, written while I was a student at Cal State Fullerton. I enjoyed writing and performed this one on every tour I ever went on, and in most of my early gigs, it was fun to revisit it unplugged and acoustic.

On Memorial Day 2017, I took some time with my family and our music mix popped one of my old podcast episodes, "The Thinnest Moon" which was a studio release that you can download free right here on Danny Hauger Podcasts. While I was thinking about the song, and how much my daughter enjoyes listening to my recordings, I thought it would be great to re-record this rarely played song from my collection. I was excited to plug in and I actually recorded the entirety of the song in one take! I diversified this version bya dding cajon for some rhythm, which flowed freely and rather wildly around the guitar strumming, and took a few overdubs for the vocal harmony that make this song unique in my collection. One of my lesser known songs, "Rise", has always been one enjoyed playing but rarely performed live. The Indie Underground Spotlight show asked me to dive deeper into the older songs and pull out sometime unique for their show and I was happy to oblige with an unplugged version. I was open for the musical challenge. I happened to have my GoPro set nearby, so I decided to hit record on my end of the broadcast, for this exclusive acoustic recording. I hope you enjoy it!

Slow Dance is one of my favorite songs that I have ever written. I wrote it in a very reflective state in the Beltway and which you look back at your life and you wonder if things would have been different if you would have asked that special someone to dance or what affects change based on your confidence levels. This songs about the two dances that I didn't go to put in visioning myself there if I had gone to prom. I think about what I would have done if I had the confidence and bravery to make the small leak towards asking that girl to dance at the right moment. I know looking back that it was so simple and easy and could have been accomplished, but at the time you let all those things in your head get in the way. Still, I was able to put myself in their shoes in this song when I wrote it and thinking about the lights turning blue and gaining the confidence to have that special moment with someone in this romantic song. The Greeks observed the goddess Rhea on Mother's Day, adapted by the Romans as well. We have traces of European celebrations back to the 1600's. Danny gets a new (10-year old) guitar! Take a listen to one of my favorite original songs of all-time "Losing Sleep" in an unplugged rendition live in studio. One take, no edits, and its a good song to demonstrate the range and sound of my Martin D16-RGTE guitar.
