You Might Know Her From

Daphne Maxwell Reid

Listen Later

You Might Know Her From The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Harriet, Jacqueline and Jilly, Frank’s Place, Simon & Simon, and Eve. Daphne opens up about joining The Fresh Prince as Aunt Viv and their upcoming reunion for HBO Max (complete with Janet Hubert), and tells us why she didn’t shake the hand of the former President when he guest starred back in the day. We discuss her life as an artist in Virginia and her artistic and domestic partnership with husband Tim Reid (they created New Millennium Studios, the first Black film studio since the 1930s). All that Daphne goodness, plus, on the heels of a conversation with Rachael Harris, Anne and Damian break down the good, the bad, and the ugly of Sydney Pollack’s Tootsie.
