Michelle Bos: Good Grief – Part 1

Take 25 minutes over lunch to feed your soul!

After her mother passed away, Michelle Bos felt abandoned and was disowned by her family.  She began a Facebook group called “Good Grief” as a way to connect people who were alone and grieving. This online community offers a safe place to talk, share, cry, and find a family to embrace you while you are healing.

In the first part of their conversation on Dare Ah New Belief, Nada and Michelle discuss:

    1. How Michelle was disowned by her family after her mother passed away.
    2. How our friends and family may avoid us when we are grieving.
    3. Why having a safe place to discuss your journey through grief is essential.
    4. How sharing our departed loved ones with others is important.

    Key takeaways:

    • Our DNA does not disappear after our death.
    • Even as an independent, strong person, we can experience things that set us back.
    • We grieve little deaths like divorce, illness, aging, etc.
    • Healing can happen when we support others.

Kathleen Scherek: Sacred Parenting – Part 2

Take 25 minutes over lunch to feed your soul!

Read Kathleen’s bio and hear the first part of her story in the Sacred Parenting – Part 1 episode! In this Part 2 episode, Nada and Kathleen discuss:

    1. Horizontal and vertical energy.
    2. How we, as parents, may jump to conclusions about how situations will turn out, instead of being in the moment with our child(ren).
    3. How aligning our own energy frees us to recognize a child that is not being seen for who they are.
    4. Being careful not to beat ourselves up for how we’ve handled situations, but instead becoming more conscious of how to better see situations with our child(ren).

    Key takeaways:

    • Point of consciousness: Do we see our children’s misbehavior, or do we see what the child is trying to say to us?
    • Demonstrating to our children that we are interested in what they are doing will hold up and benefit them years down the road.
    • Every interaction we have with children, no matter how small, has an impact, even when we don’t know what the impact is.
    • Children come to us already whole and intact, and they unfold in front of us.

    2. The consciousness it takes to be around our young.
    3. Sacred parenting: The sweet spot where science and spirit meet.
    4. Our heart sensing abilities.
    5. Paying attention to what we lean into with our children.

    Key takeaways:

    • Our young children are constantly giving us clues as to who they are.
    • Sacredness exists somewhere in the middle between children not understanding what we are saying or doing, and treating them like they are fully grown adults.
    • We have soul agreements with our children. We have chosen each other.
    • Our inner senses can bring even deeper and greater joy than the outer five senses.
    • Our response to our children in a stressful moment will determine how that child will see themselves in the future.

Sue Borgerson: For Love of Kayla – Part 1

Take 25 minutes over lunch to feed your soul!

Sue Borgerson lives in Lakeville, Minnesota, with her husband. She has three children. Her two younger children were in a car accident in 2008. Thankfully, her youngest survived and is doing well. Sadly, her middle child, Kayla, did not survive the accident. Kayla donated organs, eyes, and tissue. Since then, Sue has presented to driver’s ed classes, rotary clubs, and health professionals about the importance of donation. She is also the chapter leader for Compassionate Friends in the southern suburbs of the Twin Cities. Compassionate Friends is an international, non-profit organization helping parents, grandparents and siblings cope as bereaved families.

In Part 1 of their conversation, Nada and Sue discuss:

    1. How Sue was able to go on and thrive after losing her 18-year-old daughter, Kayla, in a car accident that involved both Kayla and Sue’s other daughter, Katie.
    2. How the loss of Kayla affected Katie then and now.
    3. The heart-shattering conversation Sue had with Kayla in the hospital.
    4. How grief affects us all differently.

    Key takeaways:

    • How a family can go on living without a family member who has crossed over.
    • Numbness and shock is there to help us through the darkest times.
    • We move through the pain and grief with faith, family, and friends, in that order.
    • We become caretakers for each other while we are navigating the loss of a loved one.

  • Lisa Luckett: Self-Love and Stillness

Be sure to listen to Part 1: Lessons and Grace of Struggle and Part 2: Evolution of Enlightenment!

In this episode, Nada and Lisa discuss:

    1. How self-love is rooted in childhood and misunderstandings of those who raised us, and the stories we have told ourselves.
    2. Seeing our lives from a different perspective.
    3. Three prescient, immediate “knowings” Lisa experienced the morning of 9/11.
    4. Why we stay so busy, and how 9/11 had a hand in that.
    5. Reframing events and circumstances as happening for you vs happening to you.
    6. Lisa’s mission to keep the wave of love going; to make the world a better place.

      Key takeaways:

    • Learning to love the not-so-great side of us is more important than loving the good side.
    • Learning to quiet yourself long enough to hear your intuition and be aware of it.
    • We lack emotional training in our culture.
    • It takes introspection to change our perception of things and/or events.
    • What if we all treated one another as if we all suffered a 9/11 loss? We would treat one another differently!
    • “I don’t want people to ever lose hope that we have a brilliant future!”

In this episode, Nada and Lisa discuss:

    1. The spiritual, enlightened experience that came from the morning of 9/11.
    2. The preparedness and skillset Lisa needed to get through 9/11.
    3. Three prescient, immediate knowings that Lisa experienced the morning of 9/11.
    4. How Lisa walked through the metaphoric door of surrender and was overwhelmed by a rush of gratitude, humility, and love.
    5. How choosing to feel victimized is wasting your life.

      Key takeaways:

    • The tragedy of 9/11 affected Lisa not only through the loss of her husband, but also as an American whose country had just been attacked by terrorists.
    • Lisa’s ego didn’t want anyone to help her through the tragedy of 9/11.
    • Lisa’s heart was blown so wide open that she had to accept help from others and let go of her control.

Lisa Luckett: Lessons and Grace of Struggle

In this episode, Nada and Lisa discuss:

    1. How life’s lessons and grace lie within the struggle.
    2. How we may be setting ourselves up for disappointment by thinking we have to be happy all the time.
    3. The power of asking ourselves, “What is the struggle here to teach me?” and leaning into that.
    4. How Lisa had experienced preparedness for her husband Teddy’s passing in the 9/11 attacks.
    5. How Lisa was able to be calm and clear right after the 9/11 attacks.

      Key takeaways:

    • Life is the classroom, the struggles are the lessons.
    • Happiness lies in between the struggles and the incredible elation we get with the “ah-ha” moments.
    • Life is not happening to us, but for us.
    • We can get ourselves worked up in fear about an event – and even make the event worse in our minds – because we don’t see the grace and the beauty that comes with the event.
    • Our life experiences are preparing us for what is coming next.
