However, long before Enfield, Playfair was immersed in some of the most violent and disturbing poltergeist cases ever recorded during his investigations in Brazil in the early 1970s, where first hand encounters with rapping sounds, flying objects, spontaneous fires and physical attacks transformed him from skeptic to investigator.
