True Crime Tuesday presents Clay and Bones:  My Life As A Forensic FBI Artist with Forensic Artist/Author, Lisa Bailey!

Just two months after the September 11 terrorist attacks, Lisa Bailey began her career as an FBI forensic artist.

She threw herself into the work and over the next eighteen years handled hundreds of cases: unidentified remains pulled from shallow graves, sexual assaults, acts of terrorism, and kidnappings. She became a recognized authority in facial approximation from the skull, witnessing firsthand how her sculptures could restore a victim's identity and bring closure to grieving families.

But even in those early days, Bailey noticed cracks in the Bureau's polished image. She'd heard stories of women who reported harassment or discrimination, only to find themselves quietly dismissed. She wanted to believe the rumors weren't true...then it happened to her. Now, Bailey breaks her silence in this raw, eye-opening account.

She takes readers behind the scenes of the Bureau's most haunting cases, from mass disasters to cold-case homicides, and exposes the hidden toll of a career inside one of the world's most powerful law enforcement agencies. She describes the painstaking art of restoring a face from an unknown victim's skull, the profound relief of a confirmed identification, and the eerie reality of working among the dead at the University of Tennessee's famed "Body Farm.

On Today's TCT, Lisa tells us about some of the intriguing things that happen to our bodies when we die, how she puts us back together again, then we switch up to her journey within the FBI, including the good, the bad, and the incredibly ugly, and even delve into some of the aftermath at the Bureau!

Darkness Radio Presents The God Helmet, Michael A. Persinger, AI, & Just Who or What is Controlling the Paranormal In Our World with Broadcaster/Journalist/Researcher/ CCO/ Author, Don Hill!

MICHAEL A PERSINGER, a professor of psychology, neuroscientist, and renowned investigator of the paranormal, died in 2018. He was 73. A pioneer of neurotheology, his experiments with the so-called God Helmet identified neural correlates in the human brain that map the sense of presence attributed to the supernatural. Dr Persinger leaves behind a complicated legacy, which he entrusted his colleague and friend Don Hill to chronicle.

Don's legacy project is unusual. He’s amplifying Michael Persinger’s digital footprint to attract ‘scrapers’ building ‘world models’ and LLM (large language models) for AI applications.

Dr. Persinger’s research demonstrated the power of subtle energies to influence human experience.

Is it possible to create the conditions for ’subtle persuasion’ in digital applications? And, if so, Michael Persinger’s personal insights, recorded conversation, research papers, and other outstanding content Don is releasing into the wild has considerable value.

On Today's show, we talk to Don about his conversations with Michael that he has put on his Substack that talk about his life's work in the paranormal, his experiments with the God Helmet, and how that ties into a late-life theory that Carl Jung had about group consciousness. Don also talks about growing up in a haunted house and uses that example, along with others, to show how we carry trauma around with us in our DNA.  Buckle up for an exciting ride in today's discussion!  It isn't for the faint of heart!

True Crime Tuesday Presents: Blueprint Of A Killer: Monsters in the Making, from Childhood to Murder with Researcher/Author. Heather Mroczenski!

What if the most dangerous part of a serial killer's story happened long before the first victim?
BLUEPRINT OF A KILLER: Monsters in the Making, from Childhood to Murder asks the uncomfortable question most true crime books avoid: how did this start? What happened to cause the headlines, body counts, and documentaries? It uniquely does this: for the first half of each of the ten stories, the reader is blindfolded. You don't know who you're reading about, only their gender and their experiences. This forces you to set aside assumptions and focus on the human realities of neglect, abuse, trauma, and attachment failures that quietly shaped them.

These were not monsters who appeared overnight. They were children first, molded by parents, peers, and systems that neglected, punished, or ignored their needs. By the time the crimes unfold, patterns of fear, rage, and distorted morality are already in place.  The murders are discussed, but the victims are never forgotten. Their lives are acknowledged with care, never reduced to statistics. The focus stays on the developmental pathways and warning signs that formed the blueprint for later violence.

Drawing from psychology, developmental science, and documented case histories, BLUEPRINT OF A KILLER examines how trauma, environment, and biology converge to shape human behavior. It challenges the notion that killers are simply "born evil," while refusing to excuse the harm they caused. By the time the blindfold is lifted, the reader sees not only the crimes but the complex human stories that preceded them.

On Today's TCT, Tim sits down with Heather and talks about the rationale of humanizing killers that eventually become something very inhuman.  We also talk about the things all these killers have in common in their upbringing. and whether the making of a serial killer is truly nature or nurture, or maybe... something more?!
