Today’s Daughter of Change is Anna Dibble, founding director of Gulf of Maine EcoArts, visual artist, and writer.
Anna’s paintings have been featured in solo, group, and invitational exhibitions in museums, cultural centers, and galleries for over forty years.
She was a freelance writer, music composer, and co-designer for multiple animated shorts on Children’s Television Workshop’s Sesame Street. She has designed and created sets for opera and theater and taught workshops in both visual arts and writing in Vermont and Maine schools. In the 1980s and 90s, she worked in commercial and independent animation in Los Angeles including feature films, television specials, and theatrical shorts.
Primarily a self-taught visual artist from a family of self-taught professional artists, she studied at Parsons, New School, Boston Museum School, Vermont Studio Center, Pittsburg Art Institute, and learned from mentors including her father,
In 2018 Anna designed and launched a multi-year collaborative public art/ocean science initiative: The Gulf of Maine Ecology Arts Project, which focuses on the changes in biodiversity in the Gulf of Maine due to climate change and other human impacts.
Anna and I cover a lot of ground or should I say ocean to cover – let’s dive in!

Daughter of Change, Sarah Stacey, is personally redefining what it means to have anxiety. To quote Sarah, "I have anxiety, I am not anxiety". Sarah is sharing her story in the hopes of helping others realize that anxiety is not one-dimensional. It's something that you have, it does not define who you are.
This is also an epic day on the Daughters of Change Podcast because Sarah is our very own podcast editor. I’m very happy to have the opportunity to interview Sarah. She is an integral part of Daughters of Change, and a dream to work with. I know you’ll be as amazed by her as I am.
Sarah has been battling anxiety almost her entire life and finally sought help at age 29 when the COVID pandemic brought everything sharply into focus. I learned about this when she wrote a beautiful, heartfelt article earlier this year and asked her if she would work with me on a podcast about the topic.
I’m in awe of Sarah in many ways and her willingness to discuss her journey is just one of them. Anxiety is something that impacts many people. We hope this discussion is helpful whether you deal with anxiety yourself or know someone who does.

Many years ago, Juliette Gordon Low said, “We must accept the fact that transport and communications will bring the world in close relations and the youth of the world should have standards and ideals in common.”
Those prophetic words ring true today with the Girl Scouts travel program. From the field trips taken as Brownies to the global adventures they go on as teens, Girl Scouts can explore different places and cultures while learning about the world.
Girls can experience all that our country has to offer, whether they’re “blasting off” at Space Camp in Alabama, taking in a Broadway show in New York City, or visiting the birthplace of Girl Scouts’ founder, Juliette Gordon Low, in Savannah, Georgia. And they can plan even bigger adventures around the world, traveling with other Girl Scouts who share their love of adventure.
Today we’ll be hearing all about these travel opportunities and the benefits they offer from Girl Scout of Maine volunteer and Travel Coordinator, Shannon Johnson, and world traveler Girl Scout, Greta Smallidge.

Meet Daughter of Change, Loretta Prescott. I’ve known Loretta since our radio days, many moons ago. She was on-air and I sold the airtime. From the minute I met her, we were simpatico. Over the years we have stayed in touch, and I have been unduly impressed by the passion she brings to helping others through her work. I’m so happy to have the opportunity to talk with her today and introduce her to all of you.
Loretta started her nonprofit career in 1999 in Portland Maine. Her work has included organizations large and small throughout New England that work for social justice and to empower disenfranchised populations, like the YWCA, Girl Scouts, Special Olympics, and the Immigrant Legal Advocacy Project.
She is a graduate of the University of Maine with a double major in Journalism and Broadcasting, has been a member of Rotary Club, Kiwanis Club, Association of Fundraising Professionals, and National Association of Charitable Gift Planners,
Loretta is the proud mother of a queer daughter with her husband of 38 years. Her first career, broadcasting, started in 1983 on the radio in Portland and led her to Washington DC and Boston on-air gigs. Loretta has been at JASMYN since Fall 2018 when she moved to Northeast Florida from Maine for some sunshine already.
