The votes for the Utah Primaries have been in for almost two weeks now. Why hasn't there been an official ruling on the race in Utah's 2nd Congressional District? A new report about the unpaid work conducted among women is showing some staggering numbers about just how much time is spent on this unpaid wok, but also how much money could be made if women were to be paid for things like childcare, housework, elderly care, etc. The monetary value of women’s unpaid work is estimated to be $10.8 trillion annually, according to Oxfam, a global organization that works to fight inequality. Susan Madsen, Founding Director, Utah Women & Leadership Project joins the show to discuss the report and ways to close the gap.

The heat is on and pressure is rising for President Biden to drop out of the presidential race. According to the New York Times Biden told an ally that he is weighing whether to continue the race. The NYT reports that Biden told the allow that he knows he may not be able to salvage his candidacy if he cannot convince the public soon that he is up for the job after his debate performance last week. Morgan and Dave discuss the latest and what would happen if Biden were to actually drop out. There is now a difference of just 302 votes in the Republican Primary Election for Congressional District 2, with Celeste Maloy maintaining a razor thin (.28%) lead. According to Utah's Election Code, the losing candidate may file a request for a recount only if the race is equal to or less than .25%. Not enough of a difference, at this point, for Jenkins to request a recount... Brian Mckenzie, Davis County Clerk, talks with Dave and Morgan about how the recount process would look like and why signatures matter on your ballot.

 

The plan for a new downtown SLC could come with added ticket fees. We are learning more about the plan as the contract between Salt Lake City and Smith's Entertainment Group has been revealed. Lindsay Aerts, KSL 5 TV Reporter, joins Dave and guest host Morgan Lyon-Cotti to break down the latest.
