Dave and Debbie continue their discussion on a proposal that would make voter initiatives more difficult to pass with Opinion Editor for the Deseret News, Jay Evensen.

A proposal introduced in the Utah Legislature that originally would have required voters to opt-in for mail in voting,  is being changed by a new sponsor. Rep. Mark Strong is taking over this proposal, which was originally sponsored by Rep. Kera Birkeland. Rep. Mark Strong joins the show to discuss the changes to the legislation which would now require anyone who misses voting in two elections would no longer automatically receive a ballot by mail.

Auto insurance costs are up significantly. According to Bankrate, the national average cost for full coverage car insurance is $2,543 per year, which is 3.41% of the median household income. Dave and Debbie speak with Bankrate Analyst, Shannon Martin about where Utah fits and the reasons stemming the high costs of auto insurance.

Utah's minimum wage has not raised since 2008.. The battle continues every year to raise it but now, a Utah lawmaker wants to make  age - the determining factor of how much Utahns get paid as a minimum. Rep. Brent Garner joins Dave and Debbie to discuss how this would work and the motivations behind the proposal.

Salt Lake City is safer than it's been in a while --  the chief of police and the mayor telling us there's been a sharp drop from last year in crime -- D2 takes a look at all this data and zero in on one community -- the Ballpark Neighborhood where there's been a huge drop reported.  Amy Hawkins, Ballpark Community Council Chair joins the show to discuss if the numbers match how residents in the area feel.

Utah is looking at making it harder to pass initiatives into law. Initiatives are generated from regular Utahns--instead of elected legislators There's a couple of ways that laws can get passed in the state right now. The first one is through the legislature. The second way to make a law is through the initiative process. Initiatives end up directly on the ballot and you get to vote yes or no. This new proposal would make it even harder for initiatives to become law by requiring them to pass by at least 60% vs a simple majority.
