Andrea Cleary, co-host of the Nialler9 podcast, shared a selection of Christmas presents for the music nerd in your life. Her suggestions included Dublin company LovesVinyl’s record player and subscription, and the best festival tickets, music books, tech gifts and Irish vinyl releases.

Paul reviewed the latest films including Jumanji: The Next Level, Citizen K and The Kingmaker.

Pat came in to chat to Dave about classic double albums on the 40th anniversary of the release of London Calling by The Clash. Albums they discussed include The Rolling Stones Exile on Main Street (Dave’s favourite) and Quadrophenia by The Who (Pat’s Favourite).

Dr Brendan Rooney from the School of Psychology in UCD talked to Dave about our strange fascination with watching disgusting things like pimple-popping and bushtucker trials. He talked about how it helps us deal with and regulate our natural reactions to danger and disease.

Deputy political editor of Independent Newspapers Philip Ryan and head of politics at Joe.ie Ellen Coyne came in to talk to Dave about why young people are reluctant to participate in electoral politics. They discussed how the apolitical stance of environmentalists and one-issue referendums has affected this.

Eva Milka talked to Dave about Gaelic Escargot, the snail farm and research centre she set up in Co. Carlow when she couldn’t get edible snails in Ireland.
