  • Softy and Dick H2 - Sports regrets and Hall of Fame inductions / Washington DC Jimmy Lake / Textimonials: Hey Gas!
Softy and Gas continue to look back at their biggest sports regrets. Gas talks about the experience of seeing Edgar inducted into the Hall of Fame in Cooperstown last month. Softy caught up with UW defensive coordinator Jimmy Lake yesterday at training camp. He asks what these first few days are all about for the Dawgs. It's a Hey Gas! edition of Textimonials with questions texted in at 49451.

  • Softy and Dick H3 - Decline of the hydros / Gregg Bell with Seahawks news / Losing the ability to disagree / How far we've come / Dick Baird
The Seafair hydro races took place over the weekend, and it was the perfect weekend for them, but it just reminds us how much bigger of a deal the event used to be. What can they do to convince people to spend the money to go out and watch these boats? Gregg Bell of The News Tribune talks about the scrimmage that took place in Bothell over the weekend, plus updates on Bobby Wagner, and more. Gas reflects on the fact that at some point, we as a society have lost the ability to disagree with one another civilly and intellectually. It's about time we're getting a hockey team here in Seattle. It's just one more piece to a nearly complete sports puzzle. We've come a long way from where we were 25 or 30 years ago as a sports town. Now we just need a baseball team that can win, and an NBA team back in town. Dick Baird discusses all things Dawgs before his Coach's Corner show later tonight.

  • Softy and Dick H1 - Are we okay with this? / Will this be a breakthrough year? / Carroll on Ansah / George Fant
Sometimes it doesn't take much for a fanbase to freak out. Are Dawg fans panicking over the lack of an official declaration of a starting quarterback. Obviously the assumption is Eason, but Coach Petersen isn't ready to make that call for one reason or another. Are we okay with Petersen's choice to not make the call here? Do we have enough confidence in his decision making? Today's Seahawks Topic of the Day: Will this be a breakthrough year for either of the Hawks' starting corners? Pete Carroll commented on Ansah earlier today. He continues to show confidence that he'll be ready by the regular season. Maybe this is his way of giving Ansah a little nudge. Softy caught up with George Fant at the VMAC today. Was his kid really out there signing autographs?

  • Softy and Dick H2 - What if we hosted a show in OKC? / Bill Krueger reacts to trade deadline moves / Husky corner Keith Taylor
We've talked about doing a show from Portland when the Thunder come to town. What if we took it one step further and actually took the show to the fiery depths of Oklahoma City. We might not come back alive. So what did Bill Krueger think of all of Jerry Dipoto's pre-deadline trades this week? He let's us know. Things are getting underway over on Montlake. Corner Keith Taylor checks in with us following practice today.

  • Softy and Dick H3 - Pete Carroll from the morning show / Fun with Audio / Anthony Beyrouti of Venue Kings / Isaiah Thomas
Pete Carroll joined Chuck and Buck this morning out at the VMAC. We played a bit of the audio earlier, but in case you missed it, we'll play more here. On Fun with Audio, Stephen A. isn't happy about the Yankees letting another potential pitcher slip away, and Mike Francesa is upset that the Yankees post-game show cut into his show. Anthony Beyrouti of Venue Kings takes a look at the demand for tickets to Hawks games, and the end of paper tickets. Isaiah Thomas joins the show to promote his Zeke-End in Tacoma. Is there really a chance of a reunion with Jamal Crawford in Washington?

  • Softy and Dick H1 - Joe Fann on the Hawks / Chris Petersen on special teams, early kickoffs / Softy and the Truffle Shuffle / Jacob Martin
It's an abbreviated show today as we're carrying the Hall of Fame Game with pre-game coverage starting at 4:30. Football is finally back! Training camp continues down at the VMAC in Renton. We check in with Joe Fann, now with NBC Sports Northwest covering the Hawks with his impressions of Seahawks camp vs. others he's seen. Softy got Chris Petersen riled up today talking about special teams, and the potential for 9:00am starts. A radio show in Utah claims they saw Softy doing some unflattering things at Pac-12 Media Day. Dick caught up with Jacob Martin at teh VMAC today. Martin responds to the idea that the pass rush is the weakest part of this Seahawks team.

  • Softy and Dick H1 - Trade deadline has passed / 19 years of frustration not over / Chuck Powell's analysis / Worst situation in sports
The trade deadline has come and gone as Jerry Dipoto trades away Roenis Elias, Hunter Strickland, and Mike Leake. What did we get back? A bunch of unproven minor leaguers who might not even be good enough to make the Big League team ever. There's plenty of money freed up for future contracts though. Will any of it actually get used? Softy, after spending most of the season letting the team's struggles roll off his back, has finally had enough. Chuck Powell, KJR's morning show co-host and resident baseball expert is a little more optimistic about the changes and what's to come for the team. He goes in depth on the trades, and the team's farm system. A rebuilding baseball team is one of the worst positions to find yourself in as a fan. In pro football, you know that you can draft well, and sign some guys in the offseason and turn things around quickly. In college, you can recruit well. Basketball teams' fortunes can change with one great draft pick, or one free agent signing. In baseball, it's a long slog, and without a true cap, it's harder to attract those free agents away from a team like the Yankees. It's a struggle we as M's fans know all too well. Hopefully this is the rebuild that turns our fortunes around. ...Hopefully...

  • Softy and Dick H2 - A model for Metcalf in New Orleans / Petros Papadakis: Two things wrong with the Pac-12 / Textimonials: Lost season
Michael Thomas just signed a new deal in New Orleans, and when looking at his performance, he might be the model for what we hope D.K. Metcalf looks like on this Seahawks offense. Petros Papadakis discusses the two definitive things that are wrong with the Pac-12, plus thoughts on 9am start times, and more sports news from LA. Textimonials react to the Mariners' lost season at 49451.

  • Softy and Dick H3 - Collin Wilson of The Action Network's take on the Dawgs & Eason / More rumblings of NBA expansion / Metcalf expectations
Collin Wilson of The Action Network says put your money on Eastern in Game 1. He's not buying into the Dawgs, and isn't a believer in Jacob Eason. Softy, who is already fired about over the Mariners today is having none of it, and hilarity ensues. More talk of potential NBA expansion into Seattle on Bill Simmons' podcast. Seattle is on the top of the list, as one would expect. What are we realistically expecting from DK Metcalf in his rookie season with the Seahawks?

  • Softy and Dick H1 - L.J. Collier carted off the field with a high ankle sprain / Could this be a top 5 offense? / Bernie Williams
Some big news out of the VMAC today, and not news we would hope for as L.J. Collier was carted off the field with a high ankle sprain. He's likely to miss at least the rest of the pre-season. We've already had some concerns about the D-line, and specifically the edge rush. Is it time to start panicking about the look of the defense? On the flip side, the defense looks outstanding. Could this be a top 5 offense in the NFL this season? How confident are you? It's our STD for today. Bernie Williams is in town today to raise awareness for IPF. He joins us to discuss being on the wrong side of The Double, Mo Rivera's induction into the Hall of Fame, and more.
