  • Softy and Dick H2 - Building up Husky basketball faster tha we thought / Petros Papadakis on the Rams, Browning, Petersen / Textimonials
Mike Hopkins has been using his East Coast connections, getting a five-star recruit, making a bigger impact here and doing it faster than we all would have expected, and he hasn't even won anything yet. Once the team makes it to the tournament, gets a couple of wins, who knows how far this could go? Petros Papadakis has Ram fever.... or maybe not. He discusses the (contrived) enthusiasm in LA, his thoughts on the Rams - Saints game, Jake Browning, and is Chris Petersen the best thing going in the entire conference? Textimonials react to the first two hours of the show.

  • Softy and Dick H3 - Mariners sign Ichiro to minor league contract / Voice of reason, Kevin Harlan / Jake Browning reflects on his UW career
It's not officially official, but the Mariners are going to sign Ichiro to a minor league contract with an invite to Spring Training. Fans are... indifferent. If this were a season in which the team was expected to compete, fans would probably be more upset, but with nothing to play for, what's the harm? It'd be fine if the Mariners let him have a final goodbye, maybe during a nice long home stand where fans could come out to see him one final time,, but really bringing him back is an unnecessary move. Kevin Harlan, the voice of reason in pro sports broadcasting, has thoughts on last weekend's controversial calls, Tom Brady, and more. Jake Browning reflects on his time with UW; his successes, and dealing with criticism, his future plans, and what the UW quarterback room looks like next year.

  • Softy and Dick H1 - Edgar is in! / Analysis from Ian Furness and Chuck Powell / Lou Piniella reacts to the announcement
We're joined by Ian Furness and Chuck Powell with analysis for our coverage of the official 2019 Hall of Fame announcement. Edgar Martinez has been waiting for ten long years, and today it was announced that he will finally be inducted this July in Cooperstown. One of Edgar's former managers, a man who may make the Hall himself, Lou Piniella joins the show to react to the announcement, and give thoughts on Edgar as a player. Mo Rivera is the first player to unanimously get nominated in baseball history. Softy is bothered by this. Edgar makes a few comments on his nomination.

  • Softy and Dick H2 - Coverage of Edgar in the Hall of Fame / Former teammate Bret Boone / Broadcaster Ron Fairly / Textimonials
We found out just after 3:00 that Edgar Martinez, after a long ten-year wait, will finally be inducted in 2019. Former teammate Bret Boone weighs in on his memories of Edgar, and why eh was so dominant against fellow Hall of Fame inductee Mariano Rivera. Former player and longtime broadcaster Ron Fairly describes what made Edgar such a great hitter. Textimonials react to Edgar's election.

  • Softy and Dick H3 - Mike Florio on Conference Championship weekend / Man of the hour, Edgar Martinez / Bucky Jacobsen / Tuesdays with Tipp
We take a brief break from Edgar talk to discuss last weekend's Championship Weekend games, including the now-infamous non-PI call, the overtime rules, and the do-over potential. Then, the man of the hour himself, #11, Edgar Martinez joins the show talking about his career, and what it's like to finally make the Hall after such a long wait. Our own morning show co-host Bucky Jacobsen shares memories of playing with Edgar during his time with the Mariners. On this week's Tuesdays with Tipp, Dave Tippett is joined by former player and Arizona Coyotes color analyst Paul Bissonnette.

  • Softy and Dick H1 - Losing to the refs, or being beaten. Which is worse? / Officials are the story / Sharief Ishaq on the Saints
All controversies aside, yesterday's conference championship games were fantastic, but two teams had to lose, and two fanbases are crushed. Is it worse to get beaten or to lose because of bad calls by officials? We in Seattle have experienced both, losing in 2006 at least in part because of the officials, and in 2015 because of the interception on the 1 yard line. When it's the officials, it's more about anger, but when you lose on your own, it's more depression that sets in. Despite the two great games yesterday, the story is the officiating after the blown pass interference call in the NFC Championship game. The NFL needs to take a long hard look at how calls are handled. Maybe all plays should be eligible to be challenged. Officials should be full-time. We go to New Orleans to talk with WDSU-TV's Sharief Ishaq about yesterday's Saints loss to the Rams, and how fans are reacting after the missed call. Unsurprisingly, they're angry.

  • Softy and Dick H2 - Can you appreciate what Brady's done? / Play-by-play of the no-PI and offsides calls / Textimonials
Tom Brady is one of the most disliked athletes in all of sports, and there are a few reasons for that. It's not just because he's god, because lots of athletes excel at what they do and are beloved. With that said, are you still able to appreciate what he's accomplished, even if you loathe him? What did the missed PI call sound like on the radio yesterday? We've got calls from Westwood One on the national call, the Rams Radio Network, and the Saints Radio Network. Dick Fain does his own version of the call. Then we hear the Chiefs Radio call of the Dee Ford offsides call in the AFC game. Textimonials have lots to say on yesterday's championship games.

  • Softy and Dick H3 - Soren Petro on the Chiefs loss / Hugh Millen's thoughts on officiating / Bob Nightengale on Edgar / Anthony Beyrouti
It's a tough day in Kansas City after the Chiefs lost to the Patriots in overtime. We catch up with 810 WHB's Soren Petro to get his thoughts on the game. Hugh Millen breaks down yesterday's games, discusses the No PI call, and has thoughts on ways to improve officiating in the league going forward. USA Today's Bob Nightengale explains why he's voted for Edgar for the Baseball Hall of Fame with less than 24 hours until the official announcement. Now that the teams are set for the Super Bowl in Atlanta, where are ticket prices at for the event? Anthony Beyrouti of Venue Kings updates us on what's happened with those values, and more.

  • Softy and Dick H1 - Washington wins again, now 4-0 in conference / Ross Tucker on Conference Championship Weekend
The Dawgs win again last night, crushing Stanford. They're now 4-0 in the conference and looking great. Some are still arguing that they haven't beaten anybody, but that isn't the point. With the state of the Pac-12, they won't face anyone truly good until the tournament anyway. Are they an elite team? Probably not, but they are a good team. Ross Tucker will be working the sidelines for Westwood One in Kansas City on Sunday. He previews both AFC and NFC Championship games and talks everything NFL football. Cliff and Puck had an interesting conversation regarding Russell Wilson's contract. We play about 90 seconds of it and discuss.

  • Softy and Dick H2 - Russell Wilson contract discussion / Fun with Audio: Stephen A, Snoop Dogg on hockey, and banana bread / Textimonials
Should Russell Wilson take a discount to help the Hawks secure other pieces. It'd be good for the team, and great for his brand as the nice guy who is all about the team. Would it make much of a difference though? He'd probably have to take at least $5 million for it to matter. He's going to get what he's worth, and Schneider is going to draft well, and the team will keep rolling. It's a great Fun with Audio today, with Stephen A. Smith no knowing who is on the Chiefs, Tom Brady playing the underdog, Boogie Cousins thinking the world hates the Warriors, Snoop Dogg calling a hockey game, and a dude freaking out about banana bread at work. Textimonials roll in at 49451 about how to handle the Russell Wilson contract situation.
