This was Dave’s first time in PRISON – v ZAPORU. He met a lot of PRISONERS – ZAPORNIKI, who were behind BARS – REŠETKE in their CELLS – CELICE. The students had to FOLLOW THE RULES – UPOŠTEVATI PRAVILA and were told NOT TO TALK TO THE PRISONERS – NE POGOVARJATI SE Z ZAPORNIKI, not to react to their COMMENTS – PRIPOMBE, and avoid EYE CONTACT – OČESNI STIK. But they did lose the KEYS – KLJUČE to one of the prison doors, which remained LOCKED – ZAKLENJENA. Dave said they should call 113 - the police – to rescue them from inside the prison ;)

Fani can be very PROUD - PONOSNA of her Dave. He proved to be a HERO - JUNAK again… HE SAVED A LIFE – REŠIL JE ŽIVLJENJE of a woman. SHE WAS DROWNING – SE JE UTAPLJALA. Meanwhile, Fani was RELAXING – SE JE SPROŠČALA in the SAUNA - SAVNA. And NEXT TIME - NASLEDNJIČ, they’ll go to Prekmurje and visit a SPA - TOPLICE there.

You have to admit the conversation was a bit strange. But, nevertheless, TO GOSSIP has many names in Slovene, like OPRAVLJATI, VLEČI NEKOGA PO ZOBEH or ČENČATI… And when you pull a joke on someone or trick someone, they say POVLEČI ZA NOS. And to complete the rule of three, usually, if you don’t believe someone, you would say STOP IT… but of course it’s not like that in Slovenia. In some parts of the country, you will hear the saying, IDI V RIT!

Dave GOT SICK - JE ZBOLEL and Fani thinks it’s NOTHING SERIOUS – NIČ RESNEGA. Well Dave called the DOCTOR – ZDRAVNIK anyway. He suggested HOT TEA – VROČI ČAJ, CHICKEN SOUP – KOKOŠJO JUHO, ZDRAVILO ZA ZNIŽANJE TEMPERATURE – MEDICINE TO REDUCE FEVER, and VITAMINS – VITAMINI. But nothing helps Dave… So, he’s looking for a SECOND OPINION – DRUGO MNENJE.

DOGOVORJENO – IT’S A DEAL! Dave just bought a new ARMCHAIR - FOTELJ. It’s packed with MODERN TECHNOLOGY – SODOBNA TEHNOLOGIJA. It has a CUP HOLDER – DRŽALO ZA KOZARCE. The seating is made of LEATHER - USNJE, you can put your FEET UP – NOGE GOR, it has a USB PORT – USB VTIČNICA, and allows HANDS-FREE CALLING – PROSTOROČNO TELEFONIRANJE. But the best thing of all is that it can give you a MASSAGE – MASAŽA. Lucky Dave.. and lucky Fani….

“Kidanje snega” or SNOW SHOVELING, a common sport for Slovenes. A lot of work, but it goes a lot faster with a SNEŽNA FREZA or SNOW BLOWER. With the help of this ingenious machine, you can clear the “ajnfart” or DOVOZ - DRIVEWAY of snow in no time… But even if you put in a lot of effort to clear the driveway, you still have to wait for the SNOW PLOW or SNEŽNI PLUG to clear the road, so that you can drive safely…

Our couple has decided to go on a HOLIDAY - DOPUST. But not just any holiday, but on a CRUISE or KRIŽARJENJE. They will board a CRUISE SHIP - KRIŽARKA in Genoa and travel to Barcelona, Gibraltar and also Casablanca… Fani was a bit skeptical the couple could AFFORD – PRIVOŠČITI SI the cruise, but Dave said “if you cruise you can’t lose” … so… guess what, our couple is going on a cruise :)

Today Dave really dug deep into some tricky Slovenian sounds. Now he knows words which don't have any VOWELS - SAMOGLASNIKI, but lots of CONSONANTS - SOGLASNIKI. Fani is PROUD – PONOSNA of him because he has been so PRIDEN – GOOD/HARD-WORKING.

We also learned that Dave comes from a PENINSULA - POLOTOK. The end of it, the CAPE is calles RT. ČRKA is a LETTER, ČRV is a WORM, KRT is a MOLE, 'BRŽ' means 'GO FASTER' and PRT is a TABLECLOTH. I'm not quite sure when Dave is going to need all those words... Maybe in the GARDEN - VRT.

Dave wanted to surprise Fani but in the end HE WAS SURPRISED – JE BIL PRESENEČEN. HE MET – SREČAL JE his friend Kristina, the little girl that he met at the shopping centre WHEN SHE GOT LOST - KO SE JE IZGUBILA. They found out how they both know Fani, Kristina's KINDERGARTEN TEACHER – VZGOJITELJICA. It was really nice to have a CHAP – KLEPET with her.

Do you remember your NEW YEAR’S RESOLUTION – NOVOLETNA ZAOBLJUBA? Have you been shocked by the VAGA/TEHTNICA - SCALE as well and decided to go on DIET – DIETA too? Have you also decided to eat less steak and more VEGETABLES - ZELENJAVA, like KORENČEK – CARROTS, POR – LEEK, BROKOLI – BROCCOLI, ŠPINAČA – SPINACH and CVETAČA - CAULIFLOWER. Well, our two friends are on a diet…at least Fani is and wants Dave to be a part of it as well…Of course, Dave is against it and decides to cheat. But as you know, you eventually get caught…
