The current intern for Dawgman.com, Josh Wodka, joined up with former interns Luke Mounger and Jack McCauley to throw out a host of opinions on how the new-look UW offense and defense will perform in 2022.
This podcast was recorded a day before Michael Penix was named the starter, but the interns go right into the quarterback position and whether or not the Huskies starting signal-caller will throw for 3000 yards.
Next, they delve into the running back stats. Under Chris Petersen, Washington fans were used to seeing a 1000-yard rusher when Myles Gaskin was the first back in Pac-12 history to run for over a thousand yards in four-straight seasons. And overall, the Huskies have had a 1000-yard rusher 10 out of the last 13 seasons, but not the last two years. Will UW have a 1000-yard rusher in 2022? And will it be just 1-2 backs, or will it be more like the committee approach the Huskies used last season?
Continuing, the interns ponder who will lead the team in receptions? Will it be Rome Odunze? Jalen McMillan? Ja'Lynn Polk? Or will it be Giles Jackson? How about Taj Davis or Lonyatta Alexander as dark horse picks? Or will the interns think out of the box and go with a tight end like Devin Culp, Jack Westover, or Quentin Moore?
And when it comes to the receivers, who will lead the room in yardage? Here's a hint; there's not a consensus! You'll have to listen to see who disagrees with the group. The guys dig right back into the offensive stats with a rapid fire question: which player will lead the team in receiving touchdowns? This is another stat where the guys definitely have some different thoughts.
After a quick break, Luke tests the other interns' knowledge with a couple of questions about sack masters as they move to the defensive side of the ball. Will the Huskies have a player with 10-plus sacks in 2022?
Moving to the next level on the defense, who will lead the team in tackles? The interns, not surprisingly, look to the linebackers to dominate this category, but with a twist!
Next is the secondary. Who will lead the team in interceptions? Is it a cornerback like Jordan Perryman or Mishael Powell? Or will it be a safety like Alex Cook or Asa Turner? Or what about the guy that has been racking up thefts all fall camp in Davon Banks?
After another quick break, the guys go back to some bigger picture team projections. Where in the Pac-12 will the Huskies land when it comes to scoring offense? How about scoring defense? Will they continue to stay near or at the top of scoring defe ...
Kalen DeBoer, Ryan Grubb, and Michael Penix, Jr. all spoke to the media Tuesday after DeBoer officially announced Penix as the starting quarterback for Washington's September 3 opener versus Kent State.
Washington Head Coach Kalen DeBoer met with the media Saturday afternoon after the Huskies concluded a 75-play scrimmage in front of some former UW football players. He spoke about the scrimmage, the battles at quarterback and running back, other players that have stood out, as well as what he's doing to familiarize himself with Washington's rich football tradition as a first-year head coach at Montlake.
This week the media had a chance to meet with Eric Schmidt, Washington's new coach responsible for the defense's edge players. He provided insight into where his position group is right now after two weeks of fall camp, including commentary on the battle for the starting spots, building depth, brand-new players added to the room, and more.
Interviews with Washington Offensive Coordinator Ryan Grubb, as well as Virginia transfer RB Wayne Taulapapa and Nebraska RB/WR transfer Will Nixon during the second week of UW's fall training camp.
Kalen DeBoer comes to Washington, taking over a program that has fallen off from the top of the Pac-12. Chris Fetters of Dawgman.com joins Nick Kosko to discuss DeBoer's arrival and the expectations for Washington heading into 2022.
Host: Nick Kosko
Guest: Chris Fetters

Coming into Washington back in the summer of 2020, EDGE Sav'ell Smalls came in with a lot of fanfare. Local star, outstanding athleticism and respect from around the country as a recruit. Fast forward three years and he's still in a backup role for the Huskies, but a light switch appears to have come on and he's been dominant at certain times during practice...
Washington Head Coach Kalen DeBoer briefed the media Saturday after UW's first full pads scrimmage of fall camp, and he had some important updates to share on the status of Ulumoo Ale and Jaxson Kirkland, as well as his initial impressions of what stood out during the scrimmage.
The first day in full pads during fall camp is always a must-see event. The energy is bumped up just a little bit extra, and the hitting starts to really take place in earnest.
But all it takes is someone getting hurt to put a pall on proceedings, and that's what happened Wednesday during Day Six of Washington's fall camp.
During a red zone team period, Ulumoo Ale got hit and went down, suffering an injury to his left leg. The drill had to be moved to the other end of the field while the trainers attended to Ale, who eventually had to be carted off.
The injury put a big damper on the rest of the practice, as it was clear it took a minute or two for the players to shake off the shock.
The guys from Dawgman.com - Kim Grinolds, Chris Fetters, and Scott Eklund - talk briefly about the injury, and we won't know more about Ale's status until Saturday at the earliest because that's the next time the media speaks to head coach Kalen DeBoer.
The guys also touch on the quarterback competition, and it was a day where all three quarterbacks - Michael Penix, Jr., Dylan Morris, and Sam Huard - all had moments finding the end zone, both during regular team periods and during red zone-specific periods.
After a quick break, the talk turns to the other side of the ball, where the discussion moves specifically to the defensive backs, and even more specifically on Elijah Jackson and Davon Banks. Can they break through and push Jordan Perryman and Mishael Powell?
Going back to the offensive side, the receivers get their due, specifically Lonyatta Alexander and Ja'Lynn Polk. Who is going to be UW's third receiver, with Jalen McMillan in the slot and Rome Odunze out wide? And who is the best in the room going after 50/50 balls? And where does Giles Jackson fit in all this?
After the final break the guys talk about the other group currently standing out, the EDGE players, and also talked about the interactions they had with some of the offensive players and coaches after practice - namely Scott Huff, Nick Sheridan, Giles Jackson, Henry Bainivalu, Richard Newton, Dylan Morris, and Sam Huard.
Tuesday was Day Five of Washington's Fall Camp, and the guys from Dawgman.com - Kim Grinolds, Chris Fetters, and Scott Eklund - went through everything that they saw, including a ho-hum first half of practice, followed by fireworks during the second half.
The second half finally got to some situational team stuff, including the first 2-minute drill we've gotten a chance to see, and it was very revealing. Michael Penix, Jr. led the offense to touchdowns on two drives, the second one with 12 seconds to go during a 2-minute drill.
After the quarterback talk, the guys move to the other side of the ball and give some much-needed love to the EDGE players, who have been killing it so far. The talk specifically revolves around Sav'ell Smalls and Zion Tupuola-Fetui. They move back to the offense and talk a little bit about Aaron Dumas getting some more reps and how consistent Sam Adams has looked so far through five practices.
After one final break, the talk moves to the many guests that were at practice today. There were a number of former Huskies, including Micah Hatchie and Coach Dick Baird, as well as former Dawgs who now are scouting in the NFL: Cary Conklin and Mark Bruener.
The guys then talk briefly about the women that have been at some of the early practices. There have been multiple referees that have taken part, and a female scout for the New York Giants was spotted on the sidelines today.
The guys offer their final thoughts, with a reminder that TODAY IS THE LAST DAY to take advantage of our half-off a yearly subscription, and monthly users are eligible to take advantage of this offer too!
AND, the guys are on Sports Radio KJR 93.3 FM from 4-6 pm PT TONIGHT to talk all things UW Football and fall camp, so tune in!
