As the study through Psalm 119 continues a prominent theme that arises in verses 17-24, and also a recurring theme throughout the Psalm, as well as throughout scripture, is that the way of the devout heart is one of total dependence on the word of God in order to live life fully for the glory of God.

In today's episode Pastor's Mike and Corey discuss how the character and traditions of the knights of years past, their virtues and mission, serve as an apt analogy of what it means to develop and live from a devout heart for God. And of course, it is Friday so there are some "important" matters to discuss in News of the Weird and This Day in History!

Why is this teaching and concept of The Way of the Devout Heart so important? A casual Christian life wherein we approach prayer and soul care as a negotiable practice will not produce the sort of soul endurance that Jesus very strongly admonishes believers to have as the end of the age draws near. Matthew 24:12-13 is a passage not to be taken lightly, and it is repeated Mark 13:13 and Luke 21:19. The question we need to be asking right now at this moment of history is, "What will build endurance in my soul?" The Way of the Devout Heart really matters.
The Way of the Devout Heart must be anchored in the diligent keeping of the word of God (Psalm 119:4). This is a most essential and primary goal for us, and yet it is incessantly opposed by the combined enemy forces of Satan, the world, and especially of our own flesh. We must become, and remain, men and women who are in this way, and from the first eight verses of Psalm 119 we learn three helpful characteristics of those who are traveling in The Way of the Devout Heart.

Psalm 119 is one of most amazing chapters of the Bible, 176 verses given to describing the indispensable role of God's word in directing our life's journey, our way! Really, it is about helping us align our way with God's way. This week we begin a journey of studying the 22 sections of this grand Psalm and discovering what we are calling The Way of the Devout Heart!

Welcome to the Friday Funday edition! Before we wrap up the discussion on the life of the Christian in the World, we take a "deep dive" into the legend (or is it fact?) of Groundhog Day! Then, once that is settled, Pastor Mike and Pastor Corey offer some wrap up thoughts on what it means to live victoriously in a secular culture ruled by Satan whose design is primarily to distract the hearts of men and women from knowing God and trusting Him completely with their lives.
If the world is enmity with God, what are the things we should be on guard to ensure that we aren't living on the wrong side of the line? Join Pastors Mike Barnette and Corey Cantrell as they continue discussing the topic of safely navigating being in the world, but not of the world.
