This meditation continues with Psalms 19, bridging the distance of the universe to our souls. It points to God's attention and intent of perfection is the same for us as it is for the placement of the sun, moon and stars. Who are we, God, that you pay such close attention to us? Every word You speak is truth. Everything You say creates life. May we recognize the depth of Your love for us. May we in turn, love others the same way.

There is perhaps only one way to live in a place of inner peace. We try to impagine it as silence and solitude. God says it is His peace that transcends all understanding. It is beyond comprehension, yet it exists in our relationship with Jesus. Our surrender is to Him, not to nothingness. It is by keeping our thoughts on what is true and real – on Him, that we find true rest and a peace-filled life. It is the Lord of Peace who has already given us peace. Trust Him.

Peter tells us, Love is a safe place of shelter, for it never stops believing the best for others. May we become that shelter for those in our homes, for our friends, for strangers needing to know they are not alone in this world. Help us, Father to remember, Love covers so much more than we could ever dream.

The scriptures say it so well, “For the sense and reason of the flesh is death, but the mind-set controlled by the Spirit finds life and peace.” If we focus our thoughts, asking God’s Spirit to fill our minds, guide our thoughts, we will live in peace, no matter our circumstances.

As you listen today, let this prayer of hope and of blessing permeate your thoughts, your emotions and your spirit. We echo Paul’s prayer to the Ephesians: "I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know… " - the hope, the inheritance, the power and the wisdom for how to engage others so that they too may know. Listen and let these words become the hope and blessing that create life within you today, so the wisdom of God, the power of God and the hope for meaning in life is known through you wherever you go.

When distress sweeps over us, we feel like we are underwater. The thunder of the waterfall roars in our ears and we gasp for relief. Where are you, God?! Yet, in the midst of it all, He sings over us and to us. As you listen today, listen for His song – a sweet note of grace which will wipe away your tears. Put your hope in God.

To give us the authority to spiritually bind or loose on earth, and know that in Jesus' name, God is doing the same is an awesome responsibility. God is trusting us with His name, and His power. The keys to authority come from acknowledging and submitting to the authority of Love. It is in Love that we fight for the souls of others. It is not for our rights, but for their safety and security. Let His Love be the binding of our hearts and loosing of His kingdom power on earth today.

As you listen today, be comforted if you are tired and remember God. Sometimes the stress of our lives prevents us from seeing God’s goodness is never less nor absent from us. It is our experience in the moment that has created a barrier, that seems unsurmountable because it is what we feel, what we hear and what we see. God says, Put your hope in Me – not in how you feel right now. Remember Me. I am your Savior.

Today’s meditation is Psalm 42, verses 6-11. “May the Lord show his constant love during the day, so that I may have a song at night…” I love that phrase. When sorrow flows and we are overwhelmed by chaos, it is in the night that our fears seem to raise the questions we’ve suppressed during the day. Can we sing in the night? Can we turn the shadows of darkness into rays of hope and remember to thank God, to praise Him for His constant unfailing love? Those words, are the key – constant and un-failing. A love for us that can’t be washed away by chaos, that can’t be erased by how I feel in the moment. I will put my hope in God. Nothing and no one else.

Consider the power of rulers who speak with grace and use their authority for justice and truth. Such a person is worthy of praise, and worthy of honor. How majestic is the One who carries the power of Truth to people, who depend on the wisdom of God to rule the heart of the king.
