Today’s meditation is taken from Psalm 42. We have a yearning for God, for being with God. We were made this way. Sometimes, we don’t know why we’re sad but our heart knows that God will comfort us in that sadness. Our memories of joy-filled times with others, draw us to seek Jesus and remind us that hope and praise and trust are the essential ingredients for turning our minds from discouragement toward hopefulness.

For us who know God, we know the presence of God either changes us or changes the situation we’re in. God assures us He works everything for our good and according to His purposes. And what are His purposes? To change us into the sons and daughters He created us to be – just like His Son. So,, if God is for us, who can be against us? Really, only us. God’s love for us never ceases, never diminishes. He is continually calling us to following Him into our future. To turn our hearts toward His so we can fully experience the goodness of our His love in every moment of our lives. In the tapestry of our lives, there is one strand that is interwoven into every fiber of our being; it is the love of God. Might we consider and realize there is no greater goal, greater purpose for ourselves than to grow up into the men and women of God? People who know we were made to carry light into darkness? Let’s be brave and follow His light – wherever He goes.

In the second half of Psalm 27, we find ourselves right where we didn’t want to be – questioning if God heard us, wondering if He’s nearby. The honesty of these words tell us its OK to call out, to question where He is and to look for him.. When my heart whispered, “Seek God,” my whole being replied, “I’m seeking him!” That’s it! -- Look for Him. Stay with Him. Trust Him, and don’t quit. He is with You and He won’t leave You.

Today’s meditation challenges us to trust God. If we listen as sheep listen trusting the one leading us that we will be fed, and protected, we can move through our days with confidence that we’re not alone, or forgotten. We can believe that goodness and mercy are with us every day of our lives. How much do we trust Him? What might be lurking in the shadows of our lives? When will our cups of fresh water brim and be enough? Is this really the right path to take, God? Take this time to establish your thoughts and put your trust in God's intended best for every moment of today.

James tells us, . . . faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead (James 2:17). And he goes on to explain that we can say we have faith all day long but the proof is in the pudding, so to speak. If we do have real faith, it will play out in our actions. We can believe a chair will hold us up and then the resulting action of that faith will be that we actually sit in the chair. We may say that we believe in God but what do our actions show? Do we live out that faith, that belief in God, by actually living our lives yielded to Him?

Whatever we do, it is for God and it is His power at work in us to accomplish what we are tasked to do. Love is the source of our strength and the purpose of our work. As you listen to this meditation, remember your work is worship. It all is for His name and love to be known in this world.

Jesus knew who He was, which gave Him the confidence to live humbly as one who could serve others and not feel slighted, or overlooked. He modeled humility because He believed in His identity and knew God loved Him. God reminds us to "be content with who you are", for in this we will be aligned with God's intent for why we're here.

As you listen to this meditation, let God take your burdens for a while. It's easy for us to feel our concerns, our schedules, our problems are for us to solve, to fix, to make right. We look at the scriptures that tell us we are conquerors and mighty and wonder why we're tired and feeling weak. We miss the single truth that it is in Christ, through Christ and with Christ that we are strong. It is not our strength. Never are we to believe we are alone or doing it alone. It is when we rest in Him that we can do all God has given us to do.

I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which He has called you. Listen intently. Seek and find the wisdom that comes from the Father of Lights, who casts no shadow but is the source of our resurrection life. Let's run to Him. His arms are open.

There is a unique and powerful dynamic at work in God's kingdom. It appears to operate in tandem to our behavior and thoughts. If we forgive, we are forgiven. Conversely, if we don't forgive, neither are we forgiven. Our nature is to hold judgement over another, yet we then are judged. To reconcile is to bring freedom, to return the scale to a place of equilibrium. There's only one way - to let go and keep no records of wrong.
