“We care for our fellow man out of obedience to Christ,” says Fr. Tony Cutcher. The purpose of the Christian life, he adds, is not “bringing glory to ourselves but bringing glory to God.”

In a beautiful homily on being salt and light, Fr. Ambrose Dobrozsi reflects: “When we know Christ, when we’ve experienced him in the sacraments and in prayer, we have to then take that into life by making Christ the deciding factor for how we live our lives.”

Reflecting on our call to be the salt of earth, Fr. Joseph Kindel asks: “Salt and light bring out and enhance everything else…Are you the kind of person that brings out the best in others?”

In a beautiful reflection on The Presentation, Fr. Tony Cutcher challenges us to emulate and imitate Simeon's closeness to God. He asks: "How much do we know? How close are we to God and His word that we would recognize Jesus when he walked in the door?"

Christ wants to shine through us. Fr. Ambrose Dobrozsi reflects on this, saying: "The purpose of Christianity is for us to become like mirrors...In that way, Christ's light shines into our lives and we refract that light every which way, because his light is dwelling in us and radiates outward."

In this wonderful reflection on The Presentation, Fr. Joseph Kindel emphasizes: "We need both obedience to the laws of the Church...but also there needs to be an openness to a prophetic word, to the movement of the Holy Spirit."

To repent is to make a turn from sin towards the love of God. Deacon Bob Gutendorf reflects deeper on this, asking: “Is your eternal salvation worth any effort to gain?”

Why did Jesus ask John the Baptist to baptize him if he had no sins to wash away? Fr. Tony Cutcher examines the implications of this, saying: "He needed to show the people that he was one of them, that he was one with them...Because at our Baptism we are connected to Christ and to the Father."

To honor the liturgical feast of the Baptism of the Lord, Fr. Ambrose Dobrozsi reflects on the Catholic understanding of baptism. He affirms: "God has changed who we are in our baptism...We’re no longer just His creatures who have a list of duties that we need to fulfill in order to be in the right place with our Creator...Now we are His adopted sons and daughters."

On the feast of the Baptism of Jesus, Fr. Joseph Kindel reflects on the Christian call to holiness. "To be holy," he says, is "not to be perfect, but to be forgiven."
