Tony Cutcher reflects on this, saying: “In each season we have a penance service so that everyone — just like those folks at the river — everyone can come together, confess their sins, and be forgiven.”

In a wonderful reflection on the 2nd Sunday of Advent, Fr. Ambrose Dobrozsi says: “The purpose of preaching, the purpose of this Mass and what we call you to week after week, is the coming of Christ.”

In a beautiful reflection on the 2nd Sunday of Advent, Fr. Joseph Kindel says: “What is it to be a Christian, really? It means that our life (our whole life) is centered on Jesus Christ…we’ve had an encounter with the person, Jesus.”

Advent is “a time of joyful preparation,” says Fr. Tony Cutcher. It’s a time for us to pray, reflect, and practice loving our neighbor.

The Catholic Liturgical year ends with the Feast of Christ the King. We call Christ the King of the Universe, “but more importantly than being the King of the Universe,” says Fr. Tony Cutcher, “he must be the king of our hearts.”
