Christ dined with sinners. He called and drew all men to himself. Fr. Tony Cutcher reflects on this, saying: “God is that loving parent who panics when we walk away from him…And every time we sin we have the ability to turn back and repent and return to God’s love.”

Do we really believe that God can forgive the worst things we’ve done? In a moving reflection on the love and mercy of God, Fr. Joseph Kindel says: “Somehow God is able to look at us, each one, and still see that original beauty that’s in us and desire to restore it.”

What does it mean to be a disciple of Jesus? How could that be worth giving up everything? Fr. Ambrose Dobrozsi reflects on these essential questions, saying: "A disciple is not just a student or follower but someone who sits at the feet of the master to take in every word that comes from his mouth, to internalize it, and to become it...to continue to make the master present...and Christ does this in an even more real and intense way."

What kind of followers is Jesus looking for? What is to be gained from following him? These are the central questions of Fr. Joseph Kindel's reflection on Sunday's gospel. He says: "Our focus can't be on our father or mother, wife or children, brothers and sisters, as much as it needs to be on His mission...It takes some consideration, whether we got the strength to be a disciple."

In a beautiful homily on the virtue of humility, Fr. Tony Cutcher reflects on what it means to be truly humble. He says: "Jesus is a perfect example of the humility of God...The God of all creation humbled Himself to be born of a virgin so that He could die for us, that we might come to His table, that we might get called closer to Him."

Contemplating the sacrifice of the Mass, Fr. Ambrose Dobrozsi delivers a poetic reflection on the implications of the real presence of Christ (body, blood, soul, and divinity) in the Eucharist. He says: "Abel's blood...cried out from the earth for vengeance. But now we have Jesus' blood...and it cries out not for vengeance but for mercy."

What does it mean to be "honored"? Fr. Joseph Kindel reflects on this in light of the gospel's message of humility and service to the poor. "Enough of pushing and shoving for places of honor," he says.

Do heaven and hell exist? In a convicting homily, Deacon Bob Gutendorf reflects on sin in light of God's love and mercy through the Sacraments. He says: "We all tend to procrastinate. But the truth is, your eternal salvation is nothing to take for granted."

In a beautiful reflection on the words of the prophet Isaiah, Fr. Ambrose Dobrozsi considers how the prophecies have been fulfilled. He says: "Christ has turned his kingdom over to us to spread...God has called us so that he can build His Church here through us."

Christ calls us to abundant life. Yet, it's a life that comes through following him into death. Fr. Tony Cutcher reflects on the implications of the Christian call. He says: "So often when we preachers get up and we preach about God's forgiveness, we neglect to remind everybody that God's forgiveness is dependent upon our repentance, that we must repent of our sins...it's the cost of discipleship."
