In last week's show, I spoke about why it's okay to not be perfect. Striving for perfection only helps to increase anxiety and, by association, depression. And that's the last thing we need added to our everyday journey with our illness.
Today I want to expand on that, and share why it's also okay - in fact, perfectly normal - to be awkward. Because while we may feel that being awkward makes us look foolish, often we're our own worst critic and the only one who's actually noticing our awkwardness.

In episode 22 of the Life Through a Dram podcast, I share some examples of stories from my youth, as well as other inspiring stories I've heard through the years. Because stories matter, as I discuss in this week's episode.
After all, we know how storytelling has enthralled generation after generation through the ages. But have you ever stopped to consider your own stories, and how they can not only enthrall, but inspire others to share their stories, and perhaps change the world into the bargain?
Topics on the menu include:
Settle back for a reflection on why storytelling can be much more than just someone reading a book, and why our own stories - and sharing them with others - can make the world a place we can truly love and grow.

Hi and welcome to the Life Through a Dram podcast, a weekly show that looks at life, being a better person, and appreciating the here and now, all accompanied by a dram of fine single malt whisky.
So what can you expect from the show?
Well, there will be personal thoughts from myself on something that catches my eye a particular week, or recollections of lessons I've learned from making mistakes when I was younger.
There will also be guest interviews, where we'll chat about how they've overcome personal life challenges, how they're changing the world, and what they still hope to achieve with their time on this beautiful globe we call home.
If this sounds like something that fits in with your view of the world, I hope you'll join me. Together, we can show we really aren't that different from each other.

Last week, I recorded an episode of Mental Health and Me while under what I can only call "not the best circumstances". While I could have left the episode up, I really wasn't happy with it, as you'll found out in this new episode. I'll still share the topic of the previous episode three, probably in next week's show.
Today, though, while I share what happened last week, I want to talk about why you don't need to be perfect. Why whatever you do, you should be proud of, because you actually had the courage to do it.
It's okay to do things over. It's okay to not settle for things the first time you do them. Because we're not perfect, and that means we're allowed to do things over. And over. And over again. Allow yourself to breathe, and simply try again until you feel comfortable and confident with your own results.

In episode 21 of my Life Through a Dram podcast, I sit down to talk about mortality, and whether we live happy or unhappy lives as we look back on our time here on Earth.
For example, will we look back on how we placed so much of our happiness on everything that makes us unhappy? Money, materialism, and more - it all essentially makes us unhappy. I look at why this is, and how we can move away from this mindset.
Topics on the menu include:
Settle back for a reflection on where we are as humans, and where we still need to get to to achieve an environment where everyone has a place and happiness is a given, not something we're only allowed by the permission of others.

Recently, my husband was diagnosed with depression. He'd been suffering for a while, without actually realizing he had all the symptoms that come with depression.
It wasn't until he literally couldn't take another step forward that he decided he needed to seek help, and his own journey with depression (and anxiety) began.
In episode 2 of Mental Health and Me, I chat with him about that realization, and how his life has changed since being diagnosed, and what advice he'd give to those in his shoes pre-diagnosis.
