I’m Alec. I’m obsessed with helping people get clarity.I used to believe that I did not have the willpower or motivation to make big life changes. Then I learned the truth: there are no big life changes. Whether it's been breaking into a new career, overcoming chronic fatigue, moving to a foreign country for my wife's career, or troubleshooting my kids' tantrums, I've learned that change is something I create and maintain with small, daily actions. If a goal or dream looks big, that's only because I haven't yet seen the small steps that will get me there.
Now I'm obsessed with clarity. I love diving into new projects or even new disciplines. I love breaking down how they work, how I can measure success, and how I can design small, simple, and clear steps towards big changes.
I've also spent a lot of time practicing how to help others learn and grow past their obstacles. With a masters in Instructional Psychology and Technology, crisis counseling experience, and years of coaching, I'm ready to help you turn overwhelming life changes into simple, daily habits.

Early in our life, we start forming habits. Sometimes the habits that we form are not good habits. And later in life, we come to a point where we want to change our habits. Well, changing habits can get very difficult. And sometimes we need help finding that right mix to change us. Our guest today, Alec Sorenson from easier habits.com is here just to do that with us. Let's talk a little bit about changing our habits. with Alec, let's get into this. To overcome, you must educate. Educate not only yourself, but educate anyone seeking to learn. We are all dead America. We can all learn something. To learn. We must challenge what we already understand. The way we do that is through conversation. Sometimes we have conversations with others. However, some of the best conversations happen with ourselves. Reach Out and challenge yourself. Let's dive in and learn something right now. Alec, could you please introduce yourself and let our listeners know a little bit about you and your background?
    Alec Sorensen 01:53
Sure, I'm a lifestyle design coach for work from home dads. And what that means is I help people break down big life changes that they want to make into small manageable habits that can build up over time, so they can make those changes with confidence. I've certainly experienced lots of big life changes in my own life I've I graduated in 2008 with the big recession and switch from being an English major to a programmer, I went back to school at one point, after I got married, my wife and I decided to switch roles. And I went from being the primary provider to a stay at home dad in the remote mountains of Japan for a little while. And we've come back since then, and done a few more career experiments. Right now we are both working part time, staying with the kids part time so we can have the balance that we're looking for both in our professional lives and in our family. So that's the kind of thing I help other people do as well as breaking into their passions, finding time to do the things that really rejuvenate you, and taking care of your health.

Every day we wake, we make a choice, we take the time to decide how we will approach the world. But I wonder, how far do we take our thought about how we impact the world? Not many people inspire us to have great thoughts and meaningful conversations on how to change the impact that we have on our world like Dr. Twyla Dell.
I have been one, that looked at the issue of climate change as most of us do, “What can I do?” As I looked deeper into this issue, I found that we can do a lot to help save many facets of our world through small changes that we can make in our own lives. All it takes is for us to care! Small things like watching how much we drive and what we drive for. Dr. Twyla Dell helps us understand more about the use of gasoline in our lives. We had a great talk with Dr.Dell about her new book “Fueling Change”
the use of gasoline in our lives has become overwhelming and we must look for new ways to help combat this epidemic of gasoline.
I had a great time during this interview and we will be asking Dr.Dell back on for another talk about her upcoming book. Enjoy this great interview and help spread the word about the work of Dr.Dell.
Twyla Dell is a Kansas City author, an environmental leader, and a fuel transition historian. Having written five environmental books, she is podcasting and blogging on reducing gasoline use. Visit https://fuelingchange.org/ (Fuelingchange.org) to see all of her blogs. Transitioning from gasoline to sustainable energy and Kansas City history are her passions. She worked for the EPA and offered The Environmental Leadership Program for business leaders, teachers, and students in Kansas City, Missouri.
Twyla is an experienced speaker. She graduated from Antioch University Graduate School, with a Ph.D. in environmental studies in 2009.

Back when I was younger, I was pretty carefree. I didn't think a lot about much. Nowadays, it's different. Our world is a very precious commodity. I think about a lot. And we need to stand together to protect this precious body we call the earth. Today I sat down with Dr. Twyla Dell, PhD. Twyla worked for the EPA. And she's got a lot of knowledge, extensive background on our environment and fuels. She wrote a book titled fueling change. And that's what we talked to Dr. Dell about today. Every time I get in to my vehicle, I have to think, what am I going to do with the trip that I make today? I live 50 miles outside of Klamath Falls, Oregon. So it's 100 miles round trip, for me to go to the store and do my grocery shopping. It kind of forces me to focus on my needs a little bit more. We talk about that today with Dr. Dell. And it's a fascinating journey that she writes about in her book, I highly recommend you pick up a copy of this book. The history involved within this writing is spectacular. I can't wait for you to read Dr. Dell's book, fueling change. Let's not waste any more time and get into this excellent interview with Dr. Twyla Dell. To overcome, you must educate. And today, we are lucky to have Jacqueline Madison with us. To start off Jacqueline. Would you introduce yourself and tell people what you do?
    Jacqueline Maddison
Yes. Hi! First of all, such an honor to be with you Ed. Thank you. I am the founder and editor in chief of Beverly Hills magazine. I'm an entrepreneur at heart, but I'm also a spiritual success coach, where I teach people the spiritual secrets to success that will allow them to step into their destiny, align with their life purpose and live their dream life just as I'm doing.
    Ed Watters
We can tell you know how to live your dream life, and with your story, it's just amazing that you're where you are. So, let's get into that, you were born or came from South Africa, and you ended up in America. Could you tell people about that?
    Jacqueline Maddison
Yes, absolutely. So originally, I’m from South Africa our parents, my parents, I have two, two brothers and a sister moved us here in ninety-three. We were seeking the American dream you know and there was political and instability in the country at the time, unfortunately. So, yeah, so we came here, and it was a struggle, obviously, it was a challenge growing up. I, definitely we had to endure some hardship, but I'm really glad to be here and I...

The way we do that is through conversation. Sometimes we have conversations with others. However, some of the best conversations happen with ourselves. Reach Out and challenge yourself. And let's dive in and learn something right now. And we are super excited today to have Ja' Quintin means with us today, Ja' Quintin, could you please introduce yourself and tell the people what you do?
    Ja'Quintin Means 1:09
Oh, yes, I spent two and a half years as a minister in training in the Methodist Church, and also spent a lot of time in high school being a journalist. And that kind of gave me this love for writing. And being a minister gave me a love for history, spirituality and religion and how it works inside of the human mind and how it can be good for us. And sometimes as we know throughout history can be bad for us. And that really was inspired me to be a writer and write the way that I do and about the subjects I've talked about.
    Ed Watters 1:46
Very interesting. The book we're going to talk today about is called Willie, Willie started out going to have a different title. Could you tell us why you chose Willie, instead of the other title,
    Ja'Quintin Means 2:02
I grew up learning about the weightless letter, or like I heard of it. It's like this folk tale in the black community. So I've always grown up hearing about the Willie Lynch letter, but I had never listened to it for myself. And then I found that there's so much controversy on if it's being a real document or not. But when I when I actually read that document for myself, it just spoke to me in such a way. And when I looked out at the world around me, and I looked out at my own black community, I could really see the effects of what was detailed in that letter. And I was like, Well, you know, my book would be a lot better off if I could kind of show how these things affect us today in a kind of allegorical historical tale. And that's what inspired me to change the name because initially, it was run boy run. And it was really just inspired about me and my best friend walking through the backwoods of Arkansas. He's dark skinned, I'm very light skinned. And me just thinking of like this bond of two friends that wanted their freedom and wanted to, you know, do whatever it took to get that. And like I said, like, once I once I read the Willie Lynch letter for myself, I just had a completely different perspective.
    Ed Watters 3:19
History tells a lot, you know, and I looked a little into that Willie Lynch letter myself, because I never heard of it until I ran across your book, and we hooked up for this interview. By going back looking and doing the research, like you obviously have with this book. Do you tie a lot of fiction and historical fact into this book?
    Ja'Quintin Means 3:48
Yes, I did. There was so many, you know, Arkansas just has a very rich culture in the...

This is the announcement episode for season four. We're super excited, and we can't wait to share all of the exciting episodes we have for you. Our opening episode Ja' Quintin Means we talk about his new book, Willie, awesome book. And I can't wait for you to pick up a copy and read this exciting book, Willie, let's listen in to just a little bit of our conversation with Ja' Quintin Means. So let's talk about the artwork on the book. To me, the scenario the place in time doesn't actually fit what the cover art suggests. Why did you choose a cover art in that manner in that fashion?
    Ja'Quintin Means 02:00
Um, I forget the word for it. I think it's called of a an anachronism when you put something out of place in a different time period. So I did that on purpose to kind of show how the things that are going on in the book, of course, it's a historical fiction. But the same thought process is the same situations that we deal with psychologically, are very much alive and well today. And I also wanted that cover to reach out to the younger black community too, because it doesn't necessarily give away what the inside of the book says. So I kind of wanted this wow factor to where, you know, you look at the cover and you kind of like Okay, I see this, you know, Native American Girl, this white girl, these two black kids in the middle of the woods. I What is this about? But then when you read the book, you understand more about the characters and the timeframes and it starts to make a little bit more sense to you. So it's more of like a blending of that the the old times but still modern day thinking like we we would like to believe that we don't think how the slave masters of back then thought or how the slaves back then thought or how the slave catchers and, and the slave drivers of back then thought, but it realistically, we would have the same issues and problems we did today if we did not still think like them. So that was really what I was trying to get across with that cover.
    Ed Watters 03:27
That was awesome. I hope you enjoyed that. And I can't wait for you to hear that episode. November 4th. Willie, with Ja' Quintin Means, don't miss it. Now, if that wasn't enough for you, on November 11th, we release an episode with Jacqueline Maddison. This young lady is taking the world by storm. She is the owner and editor in chief of the Beverly Hills magazine. Super excited for you to hear that spectacular episode. Let's listen in to just a little bit on Jacqueline Maddison's interview.
    Jacqueline Maddison 04:08
Everyone's been so caught up and in money and materialism kind of somehow being a definer of success which money may be a part of your destiny and life path. But but it's not necessarily a requirement of the definition of success. Okay. Success is becoming who God created you to be. You know you yourself are...

Hi, I'm Ed Watters, and you're listening to the Dead America podcast. To overcome, you must educate. Educate not only yourself, but educate anyone seeking to learn. We are all Dead America, we can all learn something. To learn, we must challenge what we already understand. The way we do that, is through conversation. Sometimes we have conversations with others. However, some of the best conversations happen with ourselves. Reach Out and challenge yourself. Let's dive in and learn something right now. The world that we live in, is complex. It's confusing, and it's very demanding. understanding who you are, where you fit in. It's not always easy. Life is a challenge. And when we challenge ourselves, that's when we learn new things. That's what dead America podcast is about. We encourage and we invite you to get involved, not only with us, but with the world around you, the world you live in, to understand it, to challenge it. That's when you live. And that's what dead America is about. We want to challenge not only ourselves, but we want to challenge you, we reach out, we try to identify issues, the real world problems that we all face together. That's what dead America is about. We need your story. That's what we do. We tell stories, through communication, and involvement with one another. We learn challenge yourself, just because you don't know it. Challenge yourself to learn it. Sometimes the world throws curveballs at us, and we just don't know how to handle it. We find ourselves in these awkward positions. So often, I find myself thinking different. being outside of the normal boundaries of society, it's difficult when you find yourself within a group. And the group thinks one thing, but you know, inside your head, this is not right. What do you do, you have to challenge yourself. Sometimes, we have to walk away, even though the surrounding is so familiar, and we've known people places and things for so long. That's when it's the hardest to do what we need to do. When we struggle with the challenge of society, the weight of our peers, our siblings. Understanding how to be ourself in such a confusing world. It's hard to do when those curve balls are thrown at us. Don't react, think Take a moment, pause and relax. We have been challenging ourselves for a long time to understand the why. It's a big question Why? When you ask it, get ready for the answers. They might not be what you want, but that's okay. Seek the answers. seek the truth. And when you know it's truth. Stand firm. But if you're not sure, listen, this is when we can make a difference when we listen to people. understand who they are, what they feel, why they feel that way. Challenge yourself. It will educate you. It was not easy for me to reach out and start talking to people. But that's what it's about challenging yourself, understanding. You're not the only person in the world. There's more to the world. A lot of the times I think I know. And then I have to step back, reevaluate and understand what I really understand and truly know. It's not easy to do, challenging yourself, understanding. You're not always going to be right. But understand, you must challenge yourself and what you believe. That's what we do at Dead America. That's what Dead America is about. We challenge not only ourselves, but we're reaching out and challenging you. Get involved. Understand your fellow man a little bit better. Start talking people. There's a story out there, find it. Find your true destiny. I'm Ed Watters, I'm the host of Dead America podcast. And I truly hope you enjoy the next season of Dead America podcast. ABOUT DUSTINMEET THE CREATORHowever it isn’t about me, for it is what I can do…FOR YOU. This website was created in order to centralize the content I create, as well as give people a means to contact me directly.
Whether you came here to learn about the Modular Degree or Polymath Exercise; You came here for a purpose. It is my hope that I can inspire you to take a polymathic approach to your life.
Personally I have always dreamed of becoming an entrepreneur and changemaker. The world has a multitude of areas that it needs leaders with a polymathic mentality, and I hope to fill one of those spots. I aim to give others a pathway to do the same!
In my lifetime, “I will be a globally recognized Innovation Polymath. Driven to Innovate technology and ideology”.-Dustin Miller, PolyInnovator, or Innovation PolymathMy StoryGrowing up I always knew that I wanted to be a “businessman”, as I would say as a child. Even as I got older I would go as far to say that I would be a CEO! As the rise of technology changed my perspective my ideas grew wider. I knew that in order to achieve those childhood ambitions I would have to pursue my goals differently. In 2011 I started my first blog, and took my first foreray into real content creation, not just a graphics design hobby. I was relatively consisent, however the quality still lacked its wow factor (Also SEO). Back in 2017 (even a bit earlier) I had started a project called the “United Living Construct”. In my eyes I saw this as my magnum opus, and perhaps decades down the line it will be. The U.L.C. acted as a catalyst for growth, and I voracious (to this day) research knowledge on how to grow a brand. On top of that learning I tried applying that knowledge too, and eventually I thought a personal brand would be more suitable.A personal brand for those who are unaware is another way of saying an online reputation. It is the brand around myself, and what I create. PolyInnovator spawned off of the idea of a PolyULCian, someone of a multi-talented approach to innovation. Both names are just a modern version of a Polymath (think https://www.instagram.com/p/BxkqvAUltAO/ (Leonardo Da Vinci #myhero)).PolyInnovator | Polymath of InnovationI started working a year after I started blogging, and during my work years I always kept trying to do more. I started as a lifeguard, and worked my way into management and instructing. I found that teaching (anything) was something I am natural at doing. I love teaching, and I am quite skilled at it. This didactic lifestyle lead me to be the same way in the content I create as well.My WHY is that I want to create PolyInnovator as a company to change education, and Self-Development. By doing that I will be able to create a worthy platform to create many innovations, and probably most of all the U.L.C. itself as a https://www.seasteading.org/ (seastead). I hope by sharing this with you, that you can gain an understanding of why I truly care about your Self-Education!Finally leading up to today, as that same teaching mentality has been infused with PolyInnovator Academy. An online learning platform, geared towards those who want to pursue their own path. More than just pursue, but to create it even. Creating that path is what inspired the https://polyinnovator.space/modular-degree/ (Modular Degree), a self-learning endeavor made literally for everyone.Made for everyone because the person making it, is the person who will be pursuing it. I just give you the tools!

Thank you https://www.MatchMaker.fm (MatchMaker.fm) For hooking us up with Andrew Seaton.
For more than four decades, https://awakeningmadesimple.org/the-author/ (Andrew Seaton) delved deeply into educational philosophy and psychology; old wisdom and new science; reports of higher consciousness; and a wide range of personal development, holistic wellness and spiritual awareness practices. As he experienced all the personal ups and downs of his life, Andrew’s working life was quite varied, but mostly in education. He had many different roles in that field, most of them relating to education of the whole person. Eventually, Andrew came to see that in our world we are generally making some deeply flawed assumptions about knowledge and human nature. In 2006, he resigned from a two-year stint in academia in order to focus on unlearning his education and other conditioning, and on awakening the fuller functioning that he had come to see so clearly is possible and desirable.
Andrew has recently experienced major changes in his consciousness and way of being in the world. Throughout 2017 and 2018, he was very focused on living the insights and practices he describes in his book Spiritual Awakening Made Simple. During 2018, life had him in a period of relative retreat from the world, and he experienced a flood of dreams about his spiritual awakening and about soon assisting others with awakening. In September of 2018, Andrew’s spiritual awakening began in earnest with a beautiful dream followed by energy flows through his body.
    https://awakeningmadesimple.org/contact-details/ (https://awakeningmadesimple.org/contact-details/)
Through his writings, talks and 1-on-1 support via Skype and Zoom, Andrew now helps others to clear away the mist of the conditioned mind and awaken to their true nature as the peace-filled observing awareness beyond the mind. He speaks to groups, podcasters and radio interviewers about how, contrary to popular belief and experience, spiritual awakening is both natural and achievable.

    It all begins with impact.
Despite all the presentations I’ve given over my life, I still remember to this day how scared I was to post my first YouTube video.
I didn’t look like anything in my workshops or presentations, but I went ahead with this project for one reason.
    Impact.
A wise friend once told me that I couldn’t possibly coach every human being on Earth with the limited time I had in my life, so I needed to go on video to share my message with the world. I got over my fear, practiced 100’s of times on camera until I was finally able to say that I was “YouTube Ready”.
All’s to say that when you care about others and only want to add value, you’ll be able to overcome any fear/obstacle in the service of others.
