Dear Addy – #DadLunchNotes to His daughter

Listen Later

In August 2017, Chris Yandle wrote a short little note to his grade 8 daughter and slipped it into her backpack.

“Dear Addy, treat everyone like they are the most important person you’ll ever meet. Love Dad.”

She liked the note, so he kept writing them.

“Dear Addy, right is right, even if no one does it. Wrong is wrong even if everyone does it. Right isn’t always going to be popular but it’s better than wrong. Love Dad.”

“Dear Addy, you’re a diamond, dear. No one can break you. Love Dad.”

The notes hit the right note. Four years later Chris realized he had 900 notes – enough for a book.

Lucky Enough: A Year of a Dad’s Daily Notes of Encouragement and Life Lessons to His Daughter, has now sold globally, it’s being translated into Korean, and it’s sparked a media blaze of coverage throughout the United States on national television and newspapers.

What is it about these notes that make them so relatable for all of us?
