  • EP 5 - Collecting Evidence For Your Inevitable Success

In this episode I’m sharing one of my favorite techniques and post-session assignments I give to 1:1 clients after a powerful breakthrough session.

Whether you’re calling in new love, manifesting that public speaking gig or just craving an extra boost of energy so you can jump out of bed to savor a few glorious moments of alone time with your fresh cup of coffee before the whole house wakes up — this simple trick trains the subconscious mind to seek affirming evidence that it is possible and is already happening.

Tune in and let me know in the comments how you plan to start using this simple practice by answering a couple of prompts —

    * Will you play the Order Up game (shout out to School Of Life Design!) for starters? Or do you have a goal in mind you’d like to break down into smaller chunks? If so - how many steps can you list out?

    * How do you plan to document this reality shift? Do you want to keep your evidence log digital or analog? How can you keep it somewhere easy that you visit often?

I can’t wait to hear how this one lands with you!

    With Love,

    J

P.S. You’ll want to share this episode with a friend because this game is so much more fun with a cheer squad 🎉

  • EP 4 - Practicing Presence Through The Polaroid

There is this photo of my mom, a beacon of light, praying in the darkness that exists next to the ocean just after the sun has said goodnight. The vastness of the ocean makes the blue sky black — yet there she is, beaming. Beautiful. Aura and all. Making a wish, a plea. Wind in her hair and night on her skin. I want to remember this moment and the sunset point we walked to every day there wasn’t rain. I want to remember the way she always agrees to my creative visions. I want to remember the way she giggled just before the flash went off.

There is this photo of little tiny people who look like ants from eight stories above playing on the beach as the shadows of the waterfront condos tell everyone the day is almost done. People are playing catch, scanning the sand with metal detectors looking for bottle caps and jewels, getting their steps in and watching the waves (fingers crossed for a dolphin sighting). I want to remember this moment, this view. The way it makes me feel so small. This sound, the constant promise of a crashing wave. The pelicans that fly by, and that one time they flew so close we heard them flap their wings.

There is this photo of my two beloved earth angel friends folding a blue blanket in the middle of a San Fransisco park in front of an arboretum on a sunny afternoon. They are peacefully bringing the four edges of the blanket together, folding our time in the park up. There are warm indoor cuddles (and cries) waiting for us back at Breena’s flat. I want to remember this moment, hysterical with happiness. I want to remember the way everything we do is art, magic. I want to remember all of the different colors of blankets we have sat on in parks together. First yellow, then blue.

There is this photo Taj snuck of me on my five year anniversary of being off of all of my psychiatric medication. We are making sticky rice and brown sugar chicken thighs and sipping on white wine to celebrate the occasion. Taj has always helped me make a big deal of my mental health anniversaries, a love language I never knew I needed until it happened. I want to remember this feeling of how we mark time. The fiery intensity in Taj’s eyes when it’s time for the toast. The way we cast spells with our words. The way we take photos of our plates. I want to always remember being loved like this.

In this episode I dive into the prompt of how documenting our lives can be such a beautiful way to practice presence. Wether you’re taking polaroid pictures too, using an app like 1 Sec A Day, writing memorable moments in your day calendar, or you feel inspired to pick up a disposable camera from the store — I invite you to try out this practice of capturing the moments in your life. And watch the way they become portals to vivid sensory memories.

How do you document time? Please let me know in the comments below what practices you have for this! Or let me know what you’re going to give a try :)

  • EP 3 - Witnessing Your Great Unfolding

Part of my training as a Neuro-Linguistic Programming Practitioner & Trainer is to be well versed in guiding someone along their timeline — past, present and future. When exploring the past this can include before birth, past lifetimes, and even generational lineage. When casting out into the future we can place ourselves in tomorrow, next month or even 50 years from now on that front porch rocking chair thinking about the good ole days.

Lately, on a personal level, I’ve been more skeptical of putting so much pressure on the future after uncovering this deep pattern of believing that “everything will be okay when _______.” As someone who loves dreaming about and planning for the future, I also recognize it as a form of escapism when things get challenging or life isn’t unfolding at the pace in which I had planned for…

In an attempt to rewire this urge to live out in the future, I’ve been trying something different where I allow myself to go there - but then ask myself how I can embody it now. How can I BE as I am becoming that future version of myself?

In this episode I unpack the phrase “I can’t wait to see how this unfolds” on a visual and metaphorical level and explore different ways we can interact with timelines and get inspiration from the future while being fully present to our now.

This is an exercise in trust. A practice of waiting for the avocado to ripen.

    With Love,

    J

  • EP 2 - Normalizing Breaks, Saying No & The Power Of Protecting Your Time

As much as I don’t want to, I identify as a recovering people pleaser. A recovering “yes-man”. Since I was a little kid I wanted to please others around me, I wanted to be liked, I wanted others to be happy and I wanted my parents to be proud. Saying yes when I really wanted to say no sometimes looked like maintaining peace because I was deeply afraid that people would leave if I rocked the boat. And other times it looked like filling my calendar with so much stuff — saying yes to every invitation just so that I wouldn’t have to spend a moment alone with myself.

I’ve been face to face with this lesson of prioritizing myself and my needs dozens of times — all in different disguises and scenarios. I understand that I continue to face this lesson because I have not yet fully learned it yet. But I feel it deep in my bones that I am getting closer than ever before.

For the past 7 months I have taken a hiatus, a mental health leave, from my online coaching business. I have been spending more time with myself (it’s getting less and less scary) and practicing boundaries and saying no more than ever in my life. It’s been deeply uncomfortable AND exactly what I needed to realize where I want to go next.

In this episode I unpack the winding-twisting road of this hiatus, the emotional waves of embarrassment, the strategies I used to protect my time (and how you can too) and ultimately the deep trust that I’ve cultivated in myself — knowing that when I create the space all the answers I need are already inside of me, waiting to be heard.

  • EP 1 - The Joy Of Dating Yourself

Let’s kick this party off with a celebration of all the things you love to do. Not negotiating plans with other people or defaulting to someone else’s suggestion…if you could take yourself anywhere with a extra hour of free time — where is the first place you would go? If you were to have a cozy night at home, how do you enjoy your own company when you’re not in a social media induced rabbit hole?

This first episode celebrates the impact of intentionally setting aside the time for yourself. Tune in as I reflect on my first ever intentional date night with myself (that just so happened to be on Valentines Day back in 2017) and share one of my favorite strategies for curating your own date that is oh-so-specific to you and your personal brand of joy. There’s no one else to please here except yourself ;)

I hope you enjoy this first episode! Happy Valentines Day my friend.

    With Love,

    J

P.S. Don’t know what it is you like to do? That’s okay — I feel you. As a recovering people pleaser I’ve had many melt downs about not knowing how to use my free time when it arrives. The strategy I mentioned above is designed to help you rediscover all the things YOU like to do. I’ve used this short exercise with myself and dozens of coaching clients over the years. I hope you’ll give it a try and let me know what came up for you in the comments!
