In this episode we have Bebe Katsenes, a former student, back from USC as our guest. Bebe grew up in our program and finished her last year here before college as an intern. She shares with us all of the things she is up to at USC and talks about what she misses about being here. Our masterclass is a course that continues to evolve and change, but keeps the same goal... to have great actors bring justice to great writing. Everyone on the podcast has been in the masterclass that Matt coaches, and brings a unique but similar take on what it has done for their lives. Masterclass auditions end March 1st so if you are interested go to: www.dearingstudio.com to inquire.
Matt's out of the office for the morning, so this weeks podcast is led by our chief of staff Shea Toepel, with special guests and team members Joey and Brian. Before the podcast, we got out of our comfort zones and hopped on the mics for a spur of the moment freestyle session. This brought up the topic of the day which is preventing ourselves from confidently walking into the unknown. From there we talk about the importance of self-discipline and training those around you to adapt to your next level choices. We hope you enjoy this podcast and have an amazing holday season with your loved ones.
What is the December curse?
Happy Holidays Everyone. In this weeks episode the Dearing Team discuss their thanksgiving traditions and memories.
Are you down for some unpacking with the Dearing Team?!
It wouldn't be a team podcast without our witty banter and ever-changing introduction chats. Joey was the -willing....well, unknowingly willing- victim this week as we chat about blemishes and Dr. Shea coming to the rescue. (Cue halo over Shea's head and sly grin).
Okay, okay, now into the meat of it. We had a plethora of updates to discuss, per usual. Interestingly enough, the Dearing Team always finds a way to dive in deep to the values and ideals that make us who we are. After all, who could ever get tired of dreaming?
Here are a few sneak peaks:
-The team discusses the upcoming Phx Casting workshop and the unique perspective it comes from.
Happy Listening!
Talk about a guy....
If you havent heard of Kyle Maynard and the unbelievable triumphs he's conquered in his life, go visit our good friend "Google" and prepare to pick your jaw up off the floor. Here's a sneak peak for you....
Kyle is known for becoming the first quadruple amputee to reach the summit of BOTH Mount Kilimanjaro and Mount Aconcagua without prosthetics. (Insane, we know) He is also a best selling author, ESPY award-winning mixed martial arts athlete, and the Terminator refers to him as the "real deal".
Matt, Brian and Shea from the Dearing Team first heard Kyle speak at the 2019 NEXTCON Conference and were in awe of Kyle's demeanor and mindset. Matt being in the right place at the right time, got to speak with Kyle ahead of his opening keynote speech. After the session, the team was intoduced to Kyle and the moment was nothing short of special.
Long story short, we knew we had to have him on the Pod. (Duh.) So, 4 days and a phone call later, Kyle called in to chat!

Welcome to the very first "Speedcast" brought to you by the Dearing Studio Team. (We're not coining this term, but.....we kind of are) So, take the next 12 minutes and 6 seconds of your life and let us mic-drop some banter on you.
We love our excessive group chats as much as the next guys and gals, but....what really consitutes being left on "read"?
Aside from the comedy, we talk about what it means to tell people how you feel about them, getting fired up to WANT growth in your life, and navigating the process of growth.
Happy listening!
You know that feeling when you or someone else does something or says something that you don’t know what to do with? We dug into that today. Hard. So, grab a shovel and an espresso because we’re headed six feet under into the Dearing Team’s etiquette habits.
Topics From Todays Episode:
Are we trendy? Can we keep up with millennial terminology?
Who’s turn is it really to do the office coffee run?
Why are we all so offended by the “K.” response?
Humans aren’t mind readers. Speak up about your feelings and thoughts.
Listen to those that want to make you better.
Hanna Spence- Schehr joined the Dearing Team this week to talk about The Phoenix Theatre Company and shared a bit of her story.
-Now- Let's get real here. Hanna had no idea who she came to play with when she entered into the Dearing Studio. She had no idea she would fall victim to Shea's ridiculous habbit of nicknaming everyone who walks through the door AND on top of that, she let it slip that her alma mater is none other than the University of Arizona.
If you didnt know, we are a Devil house around here and really into Arizona Sunde football. ( Cue Matt throw up the fork sign )
Anyway, let's get into our chat with "Hanna with no "H"".

The Dearing Team
Let me start off this intro by saying.......The Dearing Team has way too much fun recording podcasts.
This week was all about perspective and the power that saves you when you choose to claim it.

Below is an inside look at our discussion:
-The Dearing Team cannot all be healthy at one time. Like, ever.
