Car sales in Clare were below 2024 levels for the second month in a row in August.

New statistics from the Society of the Irish Motor Industry have revealed that 143 vehicles were sold in the county last month which was down 7% from the 154 sales recorded in the same month in 2023.

Electric vehicles appear to be making a comeback in Clare however as sales are up almost 61% to 344 units so far in 2025.

Director of the Society of the Irish Motor Industry, Brian Cooke, says after a disappointing year last year, EV sales are back to where they were in 2023.
