World leading water researcher Robert Slovak joins me on the show to talk about the things you have to know about the water we all drink.
Robert Slovak devoted himself to the science of water after life-altering experiences. He took his astronautical and mechanical engineering degrees and decided to pursue the research of reverse osmosis with his brother Jack. The dynamic duo were considered the early developers of Reverse Osmosis technology.
Robert is best known for co-founding Water Factory Systems in the early 1970’s. He and his brother were among the early developers of Reverse Osmosis (RO) technology and its many applications.
Their successful innovations encompassed home and office RO drinking water systems, bottled water production, laboratory purification, hemodialysis, seawater desalination, microchip production, bottled water production, water vending, spot-free vehicle washing and more.

Bestselling author and women's health expert, Dr. Mindy Pelz joins the podcast today. Women's health is a topic that, I admit, is covered rarely on this podcast. Dr. Pelz joins me for a fascinating conversation on the ketogenic diet for women, fasting for women, and how to thrive in menopause.
Dr. Mindy’s career started 26 years ago when she opened up Family Life Chiropractic, now known as Family Life Wellness. Her unique approach has led her to work with multiple Silicon Valley Corporations, some of Silicon Valley’s top CEOs, Olympic Athletes, Academy Award-winning actors, professional musicians and, most importantly, everyday families.
She is now a public figure in the alternative health world and is commonly known as, The Reset Doc. She has created one of the most popular Youtube health channels out there, as well as creating a private facebook group consisting of over 30,000 members who participate in a monthly, Fast Training Week.
Currently, her local clinic ran by her highly-trained team, is one of the largest bio-hacking centers in the bay area. She puts out a weekly podcast episode, two science-backed you tube videos a week, three weekly newsletters, and leads people through heavy metal detoxing in her, Toxin Reset Program.

I ask Shawn to share his top tips on selecting supplements so you guys don't need to waste your money anymore. Shawn talks about his personal experience with things like chronic fatigue syndrome, Epstein-Barr, fibromyalgia, depression, insomnia, obesity, and he talks openly about psychedelics.
Shawn Wells, MPH, LDN, RD, CISSN, FISSN is a product formulator and expert in the fields of performance nutrition, longevity, fitness and supplementation. He earned his master’s degree from UNC-Chapel Hill, where he studied nutritional biochemistry with a minor in exercise science. Former NFL Offensive Tackle Eben Britton speaks openly the NFL, opiates, and how cannabis saved him. After 6-years as a professional football player, Eben retired and became an advocate for responsible cannabis use.
Eben Britton is a former American football offensive tackle who played six seasons in the National Football League (NFL). Selected 39th overall in the 2009 NFL draft, he spent four years with the Jacksonville Jaguars followed by two with the Chicago Bears, last playing football in 2014.
Eben was born in New York City and raised in Los Angeles, California. Somewhere in his bi-coastal upbringing lies the essence of his being. A bridge between two worlds (the east and the west). Always finding peace in the middle of two extremes.
His early years were filled with athletics and art. He fell in love with football and writing. Eben earned a degree in creative writing from the University of Arizona.
Driven by a deep desire to overcome the adversity of his childhood, Eben battled his way to the NFL.
His football career provided him with an in depth, firsthand experience of dealing with immense pain and trauma.
In life after football, Eben was forced to learn and cultivate practices to allow for healing and restoration, bringing balance to the mind, body and spirit.
Britton is an advocate for removing cannabis from the list of banned substances in the NFL. Britton says he used cannabis as a preferred method of pain management during his football career, and has cited the health risks associated with pharmaceutical painkillers as a reason why players should not be punished for choosing a natural alternative. Britton is a member of the Gridiron Cannabis Coalition, a group that advocates for the NFL to change its policy on cannabis He is also a member of the Doctors for Cannabis Regulation NFL steering committee. Britton revealed in a September 2016 interview with the New York Post that he used cannabis before three of the NFL games he played in. Britton says that in addition to relieving the pain of his injuries, cannabis also improved his mental concentration on the football field, and that the games he played after using were some of his best performances. Britton also estimated that over 50 percent of current players use cannabis and that the number could be as high as 75 percent.
Britton is a board member of Athletes for Care, a group that advocates for athletes on various issues of health and safety including the use of cannabis as medicine. Through Athletes for Care, Britton co-hosts the Caveman Poet Society podcast along with Nate Jackson.

Our sponsor for today’s show is one of the two brands of blue light blockers that I actually recommend using. I’ve had the CEO Matt Maruca on the show before and we got into a two-hour long discussion, which I think to this day is the longest episode of the Decoding Superhuman podcast. But his company raw optics has made blue light blockers sexy. And the beauty of their product is that blue light doesn’t get in. If any amount of blue light gets in, that Netflix show you’re watching late at night, that book that you’re reading on your iPad, that email that you’re answering, is disrupting your sleep.
So where do you get yours?

Dr. Val Brown is the Founder of NeurOptimal. He is called the “trainer of neurofeedback trainers” and in this episode shares his background in the space. Dr. Brown covers his Five Phase Model of neurofeedback and how Neuroptimal actually uses their own Period Three Approach to track the data that goes to your central nervous system. Dr. Val explains the claims behind how NeurOptimal can transform your brain and performance, and even help with things like PTSD.
Dr. Brown had a long and varied history in the field of mental health before even pursuing his Ph.D. in Psychology. For over 25 years he taught Continuing Medical Education courses across a wide range of clinical topics including Rapid Transformation of Borderline Phenomenology, Dual Diagnosed Clients, Dynamics of Family Therapy, Working With Angry Adolescents. For many years he was a featured and keynote speaker at numerous national and international conferences in the fields of neurofeedback, child psychology, Total Quality Management, and others. He developed and published the Five Phase Model of Neurofeedback which was the first and still the only, approach to clinical neurofeedback that integrated multiple protocols into a single comprehensive approach that could be used regardless of clinical presentation.
With his background in mathematics, physics, computer programming, designing and implementing automated outcome studies as well as multimodal assessment, he was able to co-develop, with his wife Dr. Sue Brown, the Period Three Approach to neurofeedback. Their Approach was fundamental to their new and revolutionary neurofeedback system (later to become NeurOptimal®), showcasing their vision of Dynamical Neurofeedback™. Over time this was refined, always with an overarching commitment to safe, effective and effortless personal transformation that anyone can use. Now retired from actively programming, Dr. Brown directs the ongoing architectural development of NeurOptimal® as well as being intimately involved in ongoing Research and Development at Zengar.

You don’t have time for that 45 minute jog.
You need something fast, efficient, and leaves you wanting more.
My favorite tool for this is the CAR.O.L. She is a life-changing bike, that provides you all the endurance you need into two 20 second bursts.
Yes, you read that right.
That’s 40 seconds of max-effort, including the warm up and cool downs, you get a kick-ass workout in 8 minutes and 40 seconds.
The CAR.O.L is a resistance bike powered by artificial intelligence, which personalizes and optimizes the resistance, so you hit your maximum intensity levels and maximize glycogen depletion every single time.
The proof is really in the pudding. CAR.O.L’s effectiveness was independently verified by the American Council on Exercise. I gave the CAR.O.L bike spin at Health Optimization Summit in London this year, and she kicked my ass so much that I had to get one. Check out CAR.O.L at carolfitai.com
