So, what with the sharp title Ken? Well let me first welcome you back to this podcast, and if it’s your first time I can understand the question, but if you have been with me a while you know to stick around so that you have the opportunity to be completely wrecked for God in spite of what you believed before checking in on what I had to say. So, but back to the Nubian, welcome and stick around same, same for you. 

Now that we got that out of the way, I am totally fired up for this message because instead of pulling up one of the 150 unfinished messages in the Q, this one popped in my head through an image I had already made for it as I knew one day, I would do a message on prayer. So, but now that you don’t think me a bit squirrely in my message selection, it, meaning this is what I normally do. I wait for something, hopefully God and He forgives me for calling Him a thing, but do what I normally do, I want to post the message He wants you to hear...

We are no doubt the most trained up Christians on the planet in all of time. I say this considering all of the available resources that indeed are available to us in these days. TV, Radio, Internet, social media, YouTube, Computers, cell phones and tablets, and the e-bible in which many are free. Yup let us not forget the seminaries and Universities, and the plethora of churches, conferences and concerts that take place on this planet every day. And let’s not discount the effects of the 100’s of revivals and awakenings that have come our way. So not all of these things have happened in our lifetime, but you get what I am saying as compared to a scribe who carries a limited number of pens and scrolls to document the greatest event in history. We should be considered the generations of no excuses. Well so maybe that was a bit over-the-top but, well I say this because those original 12-guys turned the world upside down. While we for4 the most part go round-and-round. 

 Now before you hang up or get out of the car, first stop the car then get out, but that being said, see what solutions are offered to what could be the most radical generation the Bible ever spoke about. Now if you go looking for that statement you will need to read Joel chapter 2. It’s right in there. Yes that could be us. Search the matter out and see for yourself.

Unless you’re stomping out bricks without straw and given an unrealistic timeframe for doing so, it is nearly 100% improbable that what you need is a real job. Now I am 60-years old so now I am going to have to quote a quote, quoted many times in that upbringing which is, “when I was your age.” Ha now the difference is I haven’t stopped doing what I started doing to get me to where I am at right now; meaning when mom and dad taught me to work hard first by example then by demanding choirs, it stuck. 

Now if I left you here you might think I got to where I got and am doing what I am doing on shear human persistence and intelligence. Yup, of course it was my degree’s that opened the doors to my current future. And of course it was my upbringing that shaped me into the person I am today; ha there is some truth to this today, but Jesus is still working on me. And boy all those books I read must have made a huge difference in my ability to promote. I say yes and no. The yes part is because those things that I have done may have allowed me to walk through doors that God has opened, but none of them, no not one, keeps me in my position. 

You see it is God who opens a door that no man can shut, and shuts a door that no man can open. Not man’s ability or education, or craftiness that does the job. Nope, and yes, we have a role but believe you me if God was not in the picture as well as hanging the picture all is for not. Now you must listen to this powerful message to get the treasure of what I just said.

Ha isn’t this an oxymoron Kenneth Leroy Shelton? An angry Christian? Well it would be if we were walking and working things out with God so close that we would be completely transformed into His likeness which would then result in complete and total control of our violent emotions (Gen 1:26/Rom 6:5). You see, well wait, perhaps we should type in the, uhm, let’s call them goal scriptures for the less sanctified like me. This is the first one....

So you think that you are smarter than your parents which you also believe will give you an edge in life? Perhaps you believe you will not struggle with the same things that they did, thus making you a better human being than they were?

I ask these questions for you because anyone who has been paying attention to our culture, the world in fact, knows that the family unit has been attacked and by all appearances seems to be losing the fight. Not possible you say? Sodom and Gomorrah had a breakdown in the family unit and lost their minds and their cities in the end. 

Don’t think it can’t happen to America? Well, like King Solomon who by Biblical accounts was smarter or rather had more wisdom than his father King David, we too can think we are smarter or have more wisdom than those cities of old, but in a strange analogy I reply, if you saw a snake before it bit you, would it in anyway still be able to bite you? Let me save you some energy – YES it can and if we repeat the mistakes of those who went before us we will incur the same judgement they did because God never changes…

So this isn’t necessarily about proving that there really is only one God. This is already a fact. But, and so you don’t get thrown off when you read scriptures such as the following one, I just want to be clear that there is a distinction between the definitions of God and god(s):

Deut 32:17 - They sacrificed to demons, not to God, To gods they did not know, To new gods, new arrivals That your fathers did not fear.

You see we are created to worship something we believe that is greater than us, or when we are absorbed in sins, something that we think we can be equal to, or get something from that we think we cannot get from God Himself. But now even at this I am not trying to distinguish but to show that when we breakup with God we default to god(s); to worshipping other gods. Now these are actually demons in which our sin and the absent of God are empowered to show and to demonstrate power. Additionally we can create beastly images which can act as gates allowing demonic power to manifest. 

So these so called false gods, i.e Baal, feed off of and get permission from us by our worshipping and sacrificing to them. What does that look like you might me asking? Watch CNN or most other news stations and listen to their confirmation that God has or is leaving the building thus those false gods who come in because we are created to worship something, are breaking every promise that ever did they or you think that they made with you.

You would think we wouldn’t need to go over the benefits of making disciples that last and equipping the saints for the work of ministry, but in these days we have become very focused on winning the lost to daycare style churches. Yup I just made that up. But no we must bring a balanced approach to a church absent of revival so that we keep the fish we are catching. It does no good to boast about a record catch if you are in the midst of a perfect storm. No discipleship, no equipping, and no maturing the saints for spiritual growth. Do that and you get what we got…a world in turmoil grasping for the on-the-shelf-god in hopes for any hopes. Take a listen and see if we cannot resolve this dilemma together.

What do you do if you get caught in a situation whereby the rule(s) that you initially established to control an outcome of your choosing has been successfully challenged and defeated? 

What have we seen throughout all of history, including and especially in the religious community? Where exactly did penitence come from? How about Purgatory? Redefining the truth!

Did not Pilate say to Jesus what is truth (John 18:38)? Is it possible that he knew you could just redefine the rules that supported your initial definition of what or how the truth was defined at the time? Come and see where this is going, just don’t wear your lie-dye t-shirt…lol

So by all accounts you might think by the contents of this message that this is a message about money. It is but not really. It is also not about faith which is also discussed. It is about using fear to guide our faithless decisions and calling it wisdom when challenged by your leader as to why you are walking in the flesh. Yup it is about the wisdom that is sensual as the bible references. 

If moved by the money thing then great as we all struggle in many things and no doubt money, in one form or another, is on our short list. Wanna know if it is you, go out to a restaurant you normally don’t frequent, an unfancy place at that, and order some coffee and toast, and then upon leaving leave a $100 tip and walk out before you get caught. Yup I hit on two barriers or arguments that some yall peeps will hit and that is that you don’t want to leave the money at all or that if you do you want others to see it.

If the faith section leads you to want to operate more in the gifts of God then by all means let that be your take-away. Whatever it is that you take, take something away least you remain in the same poor position that you are currently in. Tune the tone and listen up!

Is it possible that Hell will be burned up? Or maybe just burning for eternity? Does being thrown in the lake of fire end everything including the existence of whatever is tossed in it? Does this mean hell has a duration of time assigned to it? 

No doubt when you woke up this beautiful morning these questions came rushing to you in the night rest and couldn't wait to populate your brain with the thought of hell. Right?

No but these are great questions for a believing and enquiring mind to have some answers to. Find out as you listen to this message.
