Mary grew up in a moral home, going to church, in a respectful family. She had a loving home and was very popular in school. She secretly started to have sex with her boyfriend as a senior in high school. When she became pregnant, she was filled with fear and looked for help. She didn't see her baby as a gift and wanted to get rid of the problem as fast as she could. A Planned Parenthood directed her to an abortion clinic in San Antonio. She cried throughout the abortion. She didn't remember anything after she left the abortion clinic until later that evening. Even though she tried to hide it from her parents, they found out anyway.
This interview with Pastor Mike Spencer is outstanding. He is the President of Project LifeVoice and Author of the book "Humanly Speaking: The Evil of Abortion, the Silence of the Church and the Grace of God". His Vision: "I believe elective abortion is the defining moral issue of our time. As the president of Project LifeVoice, I have dedicated myself to equipping pro-life ambassadors to speak intelligently and redemptively to the injustice of abortion."
It may feel easier to avoid this subject in sermons, but women and men in your congregation need to hear you preach on this. This podcast addresses why it is important and how to approach the subject of abortion in truth and love.
Janice challenges Christians to get free from their past abortions, saying, "God never changes His calling over your life." Janice has led many women she ministers to at her church to a Deeper Still retreat. "They needed someone to tell them that they could be free of condemnation." She also discusses the impact of a minor girl going through an abortion without parental consent.
After two abortions as a young teenager, Janice became a weekend user of alcohol and drugs, not realizing that the abortions drove her to self-medication. Her daughter was born prematurely, and she heard the enemy say that it was her fault because of her abortions. When she got pregnant again, she sought an abortion again because her heart was so hard. God stopped her from going through with it, but she was very detached from her baby during pregnancy and after he was born. When he was two years old, she returned to church. God started to pull on her heart and heal her.
Janice started dating at fourteen. Dating consisted of sex. She got pregnant and parented her baby. However, she started dating the father of her baby again and got pregnant again three months later. She knew nothing about abortion but felt like it was a way out of the pregnancy. She went to the Planned Parenthood at age fifteen and had a surgical abortion without parental permission or supervision. She left the clinic alone and rode the bus home. She got pregnant the following year and had a saline abortion, without her parents' knowledge. "I was really messed up".
This episode is in Spanish. Maria, Cata, and Luz talk about how abortion impacted them and how they found healing. This is the story of a daughter, mother, and grandmother.
This is the story of three women: a daughter, a mother, and a grandmother. All three experienced abortion, and all three experienced healing from the Father. They each tell their story (in Spanish), giving glory to Jesus.
Maddy was angry with God and the church because of the years of abuse at the hands of a "Christian" man at a Christian college. No one at the college addressed her abuse. She turned her back on God for years until she met a man who really followed Jesus. Through him, she met his mother, who is a Deeper Still team member. She was invited to a retreat and found that God was there and his people, but this time she felt safe.
Maddy's abusive and controlling boyfriend made it clear he did not want to be a father, but out of fear, she kept the abortion from him. Yet, when he found out about the abortion, he beat her to the point of needing hospitalization. She was completely traumatized in many ways. She had not been going to classes and was expelled from school. Even though the school counselor knew about her abusive boyfriend, he ended up graduating from that school. Her parents didn't know how to help her. She required years of therapy after this experience. She felt ungrounded for more years and angry with God and the church, until she met a man who challenged her beliefs.
