Deeply Disturbing Things

Hey InStars, in this week's episode we continue to shine a light on dark places. First, we get into other sign languages besides American Sign Language or ASL. We discuss Black American Sign Language and Plains Indian Sign Language, two languages that have both suffered from being seen as less than the prestige language of ASL. Then we get into the death of Robin Williams who died by suicide in 2014 after being tortured by Lewy Body Disease. 25 million people nationwide also suffer from this disease. His larger-than-life spirit is missed.

Hey there DDT listeners! Welcome to our little connection between topics that link to either previous topics, current events, or just our thoughts in the moment. A little video for you all in the in-between. Remember, everything's connected!

We've finally named our listeners, you're our very special ***InStars***. Of course we could change our minds so don't hold us to it. This week we talk about John Fryer and the brave work he did getting the Homosexuality diagnosis removed from the DSM4. Then we get into the disturbing world of butterflies and moths. Anything with a proboscis should involve informed consent.

Thank you for listening to our independent, unscripted, barely edited podcast.

Until next time...

This week we get into the 90's New York City Club Kids scene and the murder of Andre "Angel" Melendez. The backdrop for this brutal killing was music, fashion, and lots and lots of drugs. Then we review the things you were told as a child that simply aren't true. Do you swallow your gum? Do you wait an hour before swimming? We separate fact from fiction.

Thank you for supporting our independent, unscripted, and barely edited podcast!

Until next time...

Hello fabulous DDT listeners! Should we call you the deets? Or the teasers?

This week we explore our local Eastern State Psychiatric Hospital located in Medical Lake, WA. How did a patient with a violent past escape at the fair? Then stage dive with us as we explore the sad story of Sid Vicious and Nancy Spungen. Sid, the bass player for the iconic punk band, the Sex Pistols, lived a short, tragic but impactful life. Our two topics are connected by knives and inpatient psychiatric hospitals.

Until next time...
