-number of signs

Those in favor on the bill said that it might “open the floodgates” for signs and flags that may be considered offensive, but necessary for free speech.

Those not in favor of the bill were concerned about restrictions the limits of HOA’s which they consider private.

Intro

Two neighbors. One fellow kicks a clod of dirt around a storm drain. The other neighbor says he did it to flood his property. The neighbor gets arrested for criminal trespassing, but says he was never on the other persons property and has the camera footage to prove it.

1. We have to do better getting along with neighbors

2. In this dispute, there have been racist slurs thrown both ways.

Intro

Apparently, landlords near Vancouver were evicting tenants through “renovictions”. The idea is that you can evict your tenant when you need to do major repairs to a unit. The new law that goes into effect is supposed to stop the “renoviction” process.

1. What did you know about the idea of a renoviction before I mentioned it? I had no idea.

2. What happens in the United States if a landlord wants to evict someone so that they can complete repairs in the unit?

In Florida, there is security camera footage of a guy screaming “Firecracker!” at 3 in the morning.

 

Thoughts/Questions

1. When is it ever ok to scream at 3 in the morning and wake up your neighbors? That’s not neighborly.

2. If there wasn’t security camera footage, would you believe someone actually did this?

3. What is the thought process for something like this? “You know, it’s 3 in the morning and I’m having trouble sleeping….I’ll just scream in this person’s yard about fireworks…it’s the 4th of July after all.

We get an article out of Portland that talks about air conditioning for tenants….this type of article comes out across the country during the summer, especially when there is a heat wave. Unless someone has lived without Air Conditioning their whole life, Air conditioning is a necessity now. While Air conditioning was a luxury and optional 50 years ago, times have changed and we need to keep up with this particular thing.

Article out of Australia says that people are moving out of the big cities and out to the countryside.

Prices surging in regional areas even faster than the big cities

Australia has put 311 billion into their economy, which is thought to be the main driver of housing price increases.

It says that in a normal year, kids in rural areas move to the cities for work and older folks move out..but that hasn’t happened.

HOA resident moves three beehives off her property to avoid $100 a day fines

Matthews calls itself a bee city, but just maybe that didn’t work out…what if they called themselves an alligator city? An ocelot city?

“I think it’s unfortunate that a community doesn’t welcome bees, but I understand there were some issues,” Mayor John Higdon said. There’s a difference between welcoming bees and getting stung by them…No?

The bees had stung a puppy, so the neighbors went to the HOA and reported that the hive was a huge concern….now…how can we know that the bee that stung the puppy was from this hive?

1. Neighbor has an exotic bird that cries incessantly. The bird cries for hours.

2. The bird used to be kept inside, but now it’s kept outside in a tent. Wonder why? I’m sure it’s the weather.

3. The neighbor talked to the bird owner…How does that conversation go? Hey man, your bird is kinda annoying. Could you, maybe, just get rid of it or something? How is it different than a barking dog?
