  • Wake
I'm still trying to find my sound. I like layering vocal octaves and the indie sound from songs in the game Life Is Strange. I wrote this while at a cabin off the Washington sound. There are close by islands, but all the water is from the ocean; the tides coming in and out make it resemble a river, inspiring the opening lyrics and the rest of the song. My talented gf inked out the art for this before she met me and I became memorized with it as I feel it fits the scenery and mood of this piece well.
    Lyrics:
    I'm waiting by the sea
It looks like a river to me
    Cause it flows
    Cause it goes
    I'm waiting on a boat
Just happy this old thing still floats
And I paddle with ores made of arms
And I brace myself for the wake
    Wake up
    I'm sinking in the sea
It looked like a river to me

  • Dinosaur
I was really obsessed with dinosaurs as a kid and totally bit someone once in kindergarten. What a mess... So, this song is largely a true story.
Thanks for giving this song a listen, and please share if I have compelled you to do so.

    Lyrics:
When I was young, they would ask me,
When I grow up, what would I'd like to be?
With stars in my eyes, I knew my answer well
And to everyone I would tell,
    I wanna be a dinosaur.
I want to be a velociraptor
with twelve inch claws that I'd scratch your
faces off before devouring your heart.
I want to be an Ankylosaurus
With a shell on my back and I'd make you sore with
My great hammer tail, you're gonna get wrekt.
Kids were never that nice to me,
but I'll grow spikes and claws you see
I'll have my sweet sweet revenge
But first I have to be a dinosaur.
There is a kid that would always shove
He'd like to think that he was above the laws of the playground
    that's not right.
I'd hunt him down with my dino-roar
Jump onto my prey until he hit the floor
And when I felt the mood, I'd have a bite
    Expelled for this behavior,
That's fine that kid had a funny flavor
And I no longer belong to human kind
    Because in my mind
    I'm a dinosaur
    Can you hear me roar?

  • Quiet Daggers
This marks the half way point of the Thing A Week Project! Wooh! This song is pretty meta, inspired by the sounds of Say Anything and Cage The Elephant. It expresses my current frustrations with my slow development as a public figure in music.

  • Tunnel Tunnel Tunnel Ft. Flip My Beatz
This was a fun instrumental collaboration with Flip My Beatz who I met online. This song is really opening my mind to the idea of mixing genres. I might try some punk pieces with hip hop drums in the future because they can just sound so good!

  • Wet Streets And Traffic Lights [Live In French]
I don't speak French, but hearing it in Montreal drove me to adapt a rock song to an acoustic ballad:
    Original: https://soundcloud.com/dehartmusic/wet-streets
    Lyrics [English]:
I've been thinking about you lately.
I've been thinking how you're not here.
I've been thinking about how we used to be.
And how I that summer air.
    But you're not here.
It won't stop raining when you're in Vancouver.
This would be a blessing in the south west.
I had to learn to live without you.
That doesn't mean I will forget.
    How could I forget!?

  • Bus Stop ft. Benjamin Bubb
Dianne got me into Lo-Fi Hip Hop, so to mix things up a bit, I dove into the genre. This song sounds suspiciously good and I should try to make music that sounds good more often. Super duper thanks to Benjamin Bubb who came out of his hiatus to collaborate on the ambient tracks for this song!!!
What are your feelings on this genre change? Have any new specific sub-genres of music you want the world to hear?

  • Claw
A remake of an emotional original of mine. I'm a pitchy mess, but it's who I am. My wonderful gf drew the art for this based on an actual picture of me. I'm sort of a contortionist.

  • All The Same
This might be my favourite original yet! I half grew up on thrashy skate punk music and it's nice to make music that I would personally like to hear for once. Tell me, what are your most nostalgic genres? Thanks again for watching!

  • Love Forever, Sadie
I found someone on Tumblr who needed a lyricists for a musical they were developing. To audition, I needed to compose an outro song for the play. In it, a 13 year old girl knows she will mysteriously die the next day and writes a farewell letter to her loved ones. The title was prescribed to be "Love Forever, Sadie." Because of the nature of the musical and this song being a letter, I decided to make the lyrics linear.
Thanks for listening this week! Please let me know what you think!
