  • 26 - Eternals
This is it. The season finale(ish) type thing. It’s Marvel’s Eternals, and joining me on my birthday is…Steven Shinder. That’s right. There are two of us. He’s from a universe where people have to wear masks. I’d call it this Steven Universe, but I’m afraid of getting sued. Anyway, give this a listen, and hear what happens.

  • 25 - Halloween Kills
Weird stuff is happening. Also, on this episode, I was joined by Fandom Empire’s Shawn Geroux to talk about Halloween Kills. How does it compare to the previous films? What do we expect from Halloween Ends? What are our thoughts on the franchise in general? All this can be found within the episode! Also, you will get to hear Shawn talk about Fandom Empire’s fan film Haddonfield: The Vanished, which picks up 30 years after Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers!
    Show Notes:
-Looking into the marketing for Halloween III: Season of the Witch, I actually found that it had a REALLY good trailer.
-Take a look at the Indiegogo campaign for Haddonfield: The Vanished and see what that’s all about.
-I will share my thoughts on Halloweentown here after I see it.
-Anthony Michal Halloween, am I right?
    -IPC’s Seinfeld episode
-The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air episode with William Shatner was called “Eye, Teeth.”
-I was thinking of a 1986 SNL skit where William Shatner says, “GET A LIFE!” Apparently he also wrote a book with that title.
-I highly recommend Ponder the Mystery, William Shatner’s spoken word album with prog rock music by Billy Sherwood.
-Sh*t My Dad Says was the title.
-The quote was actually, “Nothing happened to me, Officer Starling. I happened. You can't reduce me to a set of influences.”

  • Novel Special - Star Wars: The High Republic: Into the Dark
This book is a creepy one. I was joined by Chris Abbott and Mark Hurliman to talk about Star Wars: The High Republic: Into the Dark, a young adult novel by Claudia Gray, released on October 13. What did we think of the horror vibes of this story? What other aspects of Star Wars came to mind? How does this fit into the overall The High Republic story? Listen to our thoughts!
    Show Notes:
    8:00 - Sorgan
18:50 - Lost Stars was released September 4, 2015, a mere year after the first “new canon” novel A New Dawn.

  • 24 - Venom: Let There Be Carnage
Back again, reviewing another Sony Marvel movie. This time, it’s Venom: Let There Be Carnage. For this one, I was joined once again by Mark Hurliman, who is a huge fan of the symbiotes. How is this movie compared to the first one? What did we think of all the characters who made their way into it? Listen and find out!

  • 23 - Morbius
Delayed Replay is back to talking about horror proper. This time, it’s Morbius, Sony’s film about the Living Vampire from Marvel Comics. Joining me for this discussion is writer Greg Cox, who grew up as a fan of the character. Was this film worth the wait? What connections to other Marvel properties were there? Also, we talked a lot about comics and media from both Marvel and DC. Listen to us geek out about comic book goodness!
    Show Notes:
14:10 - From what I found, Doctor Strange’s 8-page origin story was in his fourth appearance in Strange Tales #115.
16:10 - It was more like 17 years, but close enough.
30:00 - Mahershala Ali’s Wikipedia page includes the pronunciation of his name.

  • Novel Special - Star Wars: The High Republic: A Test of Courage
The scary month continues, and what could be scarier than these kids stranded on a jungle moon? Okay, maybe I’ve been stretching it with the “spooky month” theme. After all, this and the couple of episodes before it have been tame topics. But that’ll change next time. For now, it’s Star Wars: The High Republic: A Test of Courage, released on September 8. Starrapter joined me once again so that we could recap and review this junior novel. How does it compare to other Star Wars stories? Hear what we have to say!
    Show Notes:
9:50 - While the Resistance Reborn novel takes place right after The Last Jedi, Spark of the Resistance, which takes place after, was released first.
    14:40 - Happabore
    19:35 - Star Wars Underworld
38:15 - It was actually called Cartoon Network Invaded.
    49:45 - Intergalactic Peace Coalition

  • 22 - Soul
Time to talk about that movie where Jamie Foxx played a glowing blue character. No, not The Amazing Spider-Man 2. It is Pixar’s Soul! Definitely in the spirit of the season, because what could be scarier than…being dead but also not? All right, I’m gonna level with you all. I just wanted this to be movie episode 22 since there’s a character called 22. Been wanting to talk about this one for a while, and I finally got to talk about it with Jake Damon, who has been a co-host on various episodes of the Intergalactic Peace Coalition.
First, we talked about the short film that preceded Soul, which is called Burrow. (And it was National Bunny Day, weirdly enough). Then we got into our Soul discussion, talking about the animation, the music, and the existential questions. We also talked about Pixar, Dreamworks, Studio Ghibli, Cartoon Network, and even our creative writing endeavors. This episode is good for the soul! (Also, pardon the overlapping voices every now and then. I did what I could in post.)
    Show Notes:
9:20 - Cartoon Network City - Bumpers HQ Compilation
9:30 - The Miguzi Collection Complete
18:00 - I should mention that Dreamworks does do 2D shows on Netflix, such as The Epic Tales of Captain Underpants and Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts. The former captures the tone of the books, and the latter just finished telling its story, which was amazing.
30:00 - This process of “unlocking” actually reminds me of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order.
41:30 - Try not to cry watching this.
    42:00 - Here’s that mashup.
    44:25 - More about “Sonny’s Blues.”
50:50 - I love Seinfeld so much that I recently co-hosted an IPC episode about it with Ben Hart, which will be on the IPC feed sometime soon.
53:15 - It happened in the Jeff Goldblum episode.
1:02:55 - It actually ended up arriving on September 28, two days later. Wow.

  • 21 - Bob's Burgers: The Movie
This very popular show is on its eleventh season, and it stars H. Jon Benjamin. No, not Archer. It’s Bob’s Burgers. More specifically, Bob’s Burgers: The Movie, and Loren Bouchard’s birthday is a great time to release this episode. On this show, there’ve been tangents about McDonald’s, Carl’s Jr., and In-N-Out. So this was inevitable. With the help of Zac Arnold from the Intergalactic Peace Coalition podcast, we recapped and reviewed the movie. Afterward, we played a Delayed Replay variation of #BBQWatch that involves fictional burger places and has a spooky element to keep with the spooky seasoning.

1:24:42 - I had to look up whether or not “shite” should be censored. What came up was a thread about the word “shite” being said by Groundskeeper Willie uncensored in The Simpsons season 15 episode 22, “Fraudcast News.” What a coincidence.

  • 20 - The Forever Purge
Spooky season continues! This time, it is The Forever Purge, the supposed final installment of The Purge franchise. I was joined by Dylan and Kiyan from Decorative Vegetable for this review. They have reviewed the other Purge movies on their movie trilogy podcast Triple Play, so this episode kinda completes that cycle, I guess. Seriously, I suggest listening to their episodes on the first three movies and The First Purge. With this one thrown into the mix, it all kinda works pretty well as a trilogy. Anyway, listen to us talk about The Forever Purge and make some jokes about other franchises that could be mixed with The Purge franchise. Plus, I finally got an email to read, and it’s a weird one.
    Show Notes:
    2:20 - Triple Play’s Purge trilogy episode.
2:23 - Triple Play’s episode on The First Purge.
10:45 - For season 2’s chronological placement, I checked the wiki, where I found this and this.
18:10 - Shrek Forever After and Saw VII, which were both given The Final Chapter moniker, both came out in 2010. Wild.
22:35 - I have actually gone to an event put up by SDCC. It was a July 2018 book signing by Jim Kay, who did the illustrated editions of the Harry Potter books. Here’s my write-up of that event.

53:20 - Escape from New York actually takes place in 1997, so I guess The Forever Purge might not quite work as a prequel. Unless there were time travel involved, I guess.

  • 19 - Antlers
It’s October, the time when people all of a sudden decide to watch a bunch of horror movies because they don’t want to watch them any other time of the year. Accounting for this trend, I have saved some spooky topics for this month. This time, it’s Antlers, which came out last April. I talked with my friend Claudia about the acting, how the wendigo was handled, and the overall horror aesthetic. Plus, we talked about other stuff like Babylon 5, the Jaws sequels, The Witcher franchise, the Teen Wolf series, and whom we prefer between the DCEU Superman and the Arrowverse Superman. This month’s releases are off to a great start!
    Show Notes:
This Antlers discussion, being episode 19, was actually recorded on September 19, funny enough.
3:40 - Guitarist Steve Bartek, Danny Elfman’s bandmate from Oingo Boingo, was there. In fact, here’s my entire write-up of The Nightmare Before Christmas at the Hollywood Bowl.
    16:50 - It’s pronounced “Heck-lin.”
