Mark 15:1-47.

It all comes down to this: Jesus will suffer and be killed as the necessary sacrifice for sin. When we reach the end of this chapter it looks as if death has won. Surely the God-Man Jesus Christ can't overcome the grave…or can He? After all, Sunday is a comin'!

Mark 14:53-72.

Seeking His destruction from the beginning, the religious rulers finally get their wish; they condemn Jesus to death for blasphemy. But while this was playing out one of the most famous denials in history was also taking place in Peter prompting the question, "What do you do when you fail Jesus?" The good news = Jesus loves failures!

It can be so easy to put our heads down and plow through parenting only to lift up our eyes once our kids are gone and ask, "What just happened and how did we get here?" Parenting with the end in mind we lay out some helps so that we can not only dig into the task of parenting but also lift our eyes to the horizon as we aim at Jesus in the raising of our children.

Mark 14:26-52.

Jesus is the King who will be struck by the Father and abandoned by His friends. The journey towards the cross continues as we come to grips with all that will be involved in Jesus consuming the cup of God's wrath against sin.

Mark 14:22-25.

The Passover meal was highly significant in the life of God's people. It was also the perfect time and place for Jesus to institute the Lord's Supper. Full of meaning, depth, and breadth, the Lord's Supper is a rich convergence of the Scriptures. But when it all boils down in the end, the Lord's Supper serves as a simple reminder that Jesus has paid it all.

Mark 14:10-21.

As Mark continues to move through the life of Jesus he has now fully turned our attention to the events leading up to the cross. He will deliver several snapshots of the King as He moves toward His crucifixion. Mark wants us to first of all see that Jesus is the King who is betrayed and sovereign.

Mark 14:1-9.

Prodigal. Not a word we often use but a word packed with meaning. It can mean extravagant, lavish, or unsparing. It's a word that not only describes King Jesus but also describes the woman in these verses as she goes full tilt in her worship of Jesus. Mark shows us that our prodigal King is worthy of prodigal worship.

Mark 13:24-37.

Fact: Jesus will return. As Jesus lands the plane on this vital teaching He drives this point home. But the undeniable return of Jesus isn't just for knowing, it's to have an ever present effect in how we live today. Because Jesus will return we are to stay alert and stay on task. The future return of Jesus is what fuels vigilant gospel proclamation.
