Mark 6:6-13

Even though Jesus received rejection in Nazareth, nothing is going to stop the advance of His good news mission. King Jesus came with the mission to preach the good news of God. And as followers of Jesus this means we are sent on the same mission as our King.

Mark 6:1-6

Rejection and unbelief. Despite all they saw and heard from the King, the people of Nazareth brazenly reject Jesus as they harden in unbelief. We ask three questions. When you consider Jesus, (1) Are you wrongly astonished, (2) Are you offended, (3) Are you guilty of unbelief?

Mark 5: 1-20

Not only does Jesus have the power to calm the chaos of nature, he also has the power to calm the chaos of hell. As the King, the visible world of nature and the invisible world of cosmic forces are subject to Him who is power. Jesus displays his compassion for men and women as he displays his powers over the spiritual forces of evil which seek to enslave and destroy the souls of men.

Mark 4:35-41

When fear is big and faith is gone we are tempted to believe that Jesus does not care. We are prone to forget that peace in the storm is found in the power of the King. In these verses Mark is calling you to set anchor in the Lord of creation; the One who is sovereign in power, who has a care for your soul in the eye of the storm.

John 10:7-10

2 Peter 3:11-18

The difference one day can make. This is the driving thought on Peter's mind as he wraps up his letter. The day of God is coming and not only will this one day make a difference for your eternal destiny, but it is also meant to make a radical difference for how you live your present life.

2 Peter 3:1-10

Contrary to those who scoff at the return of Christ, Peter calls us to remember the certainty of the Lord's second coming as promised in the scriptures. His slowness isn't a failure to keep His promise. Rather, it's evidence of His patience and grace for our Lord loves to save sinners.

2 Peter 2:10b-22

Like a good parent who exposes a threat to their children, so Peter continues to expose the threat of false teaching to his children in the faith. Be alert, Peter says, as he calls us to recognize the bad fruit of false faith.

2 Peter 2:1-10a

Shifting into 2 Peter chapter 2 from chapter 1 presents us with an extreme contrast. Because the gospel is at stake Peter employs sharp words exposing the sensuality and greed of false teachers. He highlights the certainty of judgment to come. The reality is this: God's judgment is unavoidable, but it's NOT inescapable. In Christ, we have the hope of rescue.
