United States - the average price for a Root Canals, build-up, and crown is $2,094

Tip #1 There are two types of dental implants

Two stage - 2X treatments 4-6 months apart

One stage - 1X treatment

Tip #2 - you need to take into account the time involved and the success rates

Two stage - highest success rate (5 to 10 percent of dental implants fail) , requires 2X visits 2-6 months apart. So when you are traveling 2X the travel costs (hotel, airfare, gas, food etc.)

One stage - 1X treatment, has a higher failure rate

US federal government ordered hospitals to publish their prices

They’ve reacted by a) not complying b) complying or obfuscating the data on their website (weird locations, weird naming/number)

It all shows an inconvenient truth - that US healthcare consumers are paying wildly different prices for their medical treatment

It is literally the only business that you find out the price of treatment well after purchase

Can you think of any industry that can do this?

The secrecy is no secret - each insurer Aetna, Cigna, Humana, United and the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association negotiates separately with each hospital/doctor group and hospitals are bound to not ‘share’ pricing information publicly

Max fine from the US Feds = $109,500 per year.

No prices on any LA dentists own website
Why don't dentists publish prices in LA?
#1 Dental insurance companies (Cigna, Delta, Humana, Aetna etc) negotiate different rates per procedure and have a NDA in place where the dentist cannot publish their rates to the public

#2 Dentists do know prices - American Dental Association actually tracks prices and published latest report in 2020 they don’t disclose it to the public

#3 No legal Requirement to disclose prices

#4 General consensus in the dental industry that dentists should NOT compete on price

Why can other industries like airlines, automotive compete on quality, safety AND price...but the dental industry cannot?
