Depressive disorders are characterized by the persistence of sad, empty, or irritable feelings, accompanied by changes that have a significant negative effect on daily functioning. They include major depressive disorder, persistent depressive disorder, disruptive mood dysregulation disorder (DMDD), premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD), substance/medication-induced depressive disorder, depressive disorder due to another medical condition, other specified depressive disorder, and unspecified depressive disorder.
