Paul Pelosi, the husband of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, was hospitalized early Friday morning after an assailant broke into their San Francisco home and beat the 82-year-old businessman with a hammer while looking for the lawmaker, reports said.

The House speaker was not at the couple’s $6 million townhouse when her husband was “violently assaulted,” according to a statement from her spokesman, Drew Hammill.

“The assailant is in custody and the motivation for the attack is under investigation,” Hammill said. “Mr. Pelosi was taken to the hospital, where he is receiving excellent medical care and is expected to make a full recovery. The Speaker was not in San Francisco at the time.”

CNN reported that the assailant tried to tie Paul Pelosi up and repeatedly asked, “Where’s Nancy?” When the police arrived at the residence, the attacker said he was “waiting for Nancy,” the report said.

The 42-year-old suspect is in custody, law enforcement officials told CNN. Two sources told the outlet that the assailant entered through the back of the house sometime before 2:30 a.m. Hammill added that the Pelosis “are grateful to the first responders and medical professionals involved, and request privacy at this time.” - Daily Wire

Democrats who run the Congressional Hispanic Caucus (CHC) have blocked a freshman Latina Republican lawmaker from joining the group.

Mayra Flores, who flipped a long-held Democratic House seat along the U.S.-Mexico border earlier this year, said she was refused admission by the CHC because of her party affiliation.

"As the first Mexican-born American Congresswoman, I thought the Hispanic Caucus would be open to working together," said Flores. "This denial once again proves a bias towards conservative Latinas that don’t fit their narrative or ideology."


The CHC is the largest working group within Congress for lawmakers of Hispanic and Latino descent. Its membership is made up of roughly 40 lawmakers from both the House and Senate.

The CHC has defended its decision by saying the organization is for Democrats only and that Flores holds "extreme" views at odds with its mission.

"Per our bylaws, the CHC is now for Democratic Members," said a spokesman for the caucus. "Rep. Flores’ extreme MAGA values and their attacks on Latinos and our nation’s democracy on January 6 do not align with CHC values."

The ocial media giant TikTok has denied it tracks American users’ location data, disputing allegations in a new report that its China-based parent company planned to target specific people and monitor their movements through the video-based app popular with younger users around the globe.

TikTok spokesperson Brooke Oberwetter said the app does not collect precise GPS location information from U.S. users.

“TikTok has never been used to ‘target’ any members of the U.S. government, activists, public figures or journalists, nor do we serve them a different content experience than other users,” Ms. Oberwetter said in a statement.

A new report by Forbes.com contends that a China-based team at ByteDance, TikTok‘s Beijing-founded parent company, planned to use the website to monitor the personal location information of select U.S. individuals.

While the ByteDance internal audit team focused on surveilling its own employees, the team also allegedly sought to collect location data on a U.S. citizen who was never employed by the company, according to the Forbes report. The broader plan appeared aimed at gathering people’s approximate location to help show them relevant ads, but Forbes said it reviewed material suggesting the actual purpose was to monitor certain U.S. users. - Washington Times

FIRST ON FOX: The U.S. Department of State has awarded more than $20,000 for a cultural center in Ecuador to host "drag theater performances" in the name of diversity and inclusion. 

The State Department awarded a $20,600 grant on Sept. 23 to the Centro Ecuatoriano Norteamericano (CEN), a non-profit organization supported by the U.S. Embassy and Consulate in Ecuador, to "promote diversity and inclusion" in the region.

The project at CEN, which started Sept. 30 and runs until Aug. 31, 2023, will include "3 workshops," "12 drag theater performances," and a "2-minute documentary," according to the State Department’s grant listed on the USASpending.gov website. - Fox News
