Gov. Ron DeSantis’s (R-FL) handling of a major foreign policy question has led to new scrutiny of the likely 2024 presidential candidate, leaving Republicans saying he will need to fine-tune his approach if he enters the race. Russia has detained an American journalist, accusing him of espionage and launching a criminal case against him. A bill aimed at creating a system similar to Amber Alerts but specifically for missing Black young adults and adolescents was introduced into the California Senate last month. Air Force Secretary Frank Kendall told U.S. lawmakers this week that China’s rapid build up of nuclear weapons was the most “disturbing” thing that he’s ever seen in his 50-year career in the defense industry.
