Salesforce is one of the biggest companies in the world, and they have all kinds of difficult design and engineering problems to solve. How do they do it? J sat down with Justin Maguire III, SVP of Product Design and User Experience, to find out.
Guest Bio:
I’m an executive level design leader in the area of software, product, and service design concept and delivery to market. With both in-house and agency experience, I specialize in elevating the role of customer centric design practices within organizations and leading globally distributed teams to deliver world class product and service ecosystems to customers.
I’m a passionate believer in the power of great cross disciplinary teams to craft products and services which elevate the human condition and drive market performance. I’m driven to work for companies that share this vision and I look to collaborate with leaders across the various parts of these companies to build now for what’s next. This kind of rare alchemy is difficult to achieve and even more difficult to persist – this challenge creates a sense of urgency and focus that gets me out of bed every day looking for the best partners and most meaningful industries to commit to.

Kara Kelly heads up the rapidly-growing product design team at CallRail. Today we’ll talk about how CallRail uses human-centered design and customer feedback to take a simple idea and turn it into one of Atlanta’s most rapidly growing and profitable startups.
Before falling in love with UX Design, Kara held a series of odd jobs: from translating for a Korean acupuncturist in rural Nicaragua to guiding tours at a museum of paper-making. Kara loves creative problem-solving, costume parties, eccentric interiors & karaoke-ing terrible 90s songs.

Jared M. Spool is the founder of User Interface Engineering and a co-founder of Center Centre.
If you’ve ever seen Jared speak about user experience design, you know that he’s probably the most effective and knowledgeable communicator on the subject today. He’s been working in the field of usability and experience design since 1978, before the term “usability” was ever associated with computers.
Jared spends his time working with the research teams at the User Interface Engineering, helps clients understand how to solve their design problems, explains to reporters and industry analysts what the current state of design is all about, and is a top-rated speaker at more than 20 conferences every year.
With Dr. Leslie Jensen-Inman, he is starting a new school in Chattanooga, TN, to create the next generation of industry-ready UX Designers. In 2014, the school, under the nickname of the Unicorn Institute, launched a Kickstarter project that successfully raised more that 600% of its initial goal.
He is also the conference chair and keynote speaker at the annual UI Conference and UX Immersion Conference, and manages to squeeze in a fair amount of writing time. He is author of the book Web Usability: A Designer’s Guide and co-author of Web Anatomy: Interaction Design Frameworks that Work.
