So I'm going to welcome her now officially to Live Love Engage. I'm so glad you're here, Jesseca.
Thanks for having me. Good to be here.
Well, I loved reading up on you and all the different things that you're involved in. But also one of the things that struck me because I want to really just kind of dive right in here is you said that stress is actually a gift that can help us heal. So that may sound counterintuitive to a lot of people. So I wonder if you could explain what you mean by that.
Yeah. Yeah. So stress, stress is really a low grade fear response. It's a low grade survival response. So when we talk about or when we think about our ancient ancestors, cavemen running from the saber toothed tiger and they had this fear response because that told them, hey, this saber tooth tiger is after you. This is affecting your life. You need to fight or flee or freeze. That's a good one. But you need to do something in order to save your life. Stress is actually a low grade fear response. So it's really a, it's telling your body and it's telling you that something's not right, that there's some something's not right. You can't live like this, you can't do this anymore, you're way too stressed out. But we ignore it and instead of thinking, okay, something doesn't feel right, something is wrong here, I'm really under too much stress. We think of it as something to overcome, we think of it as something to just ignore. And it's something that's annoying and it's this existential threat out there, but really stress, it causes a toll on the body, on your health, on your mental health. And we really need to take it seriously. And so that's what I help people do.
So it's really sort of a, I guess a wake up call to start paying attention. It sounds like it is.
It is, yeah, it's, it's, you know, the, you know, the annoying cousin in your basement that comes up every once in a while and knocks on your door going, hey, I'm still here. This isn't good for us. This isn't good for you. You have to do something different. We say, no, whatever, I can get over it, it's fine. And then years down the road, we end up with stress related conditions and we end up with mental health conditions, we end up with substance abuse conditions. It wreaks havoc on our, on our body internally, which is completely invisible and we don't see it. And because it's not the saber toothed tiger right there in front of our face, it's this existential threat out there. It's like it's really coming up and saying, hey, in 15 to 25 years you may or may not have a heart related condition. And we're like, whatever, I got work to do. We need to take these things seriously because we have a lot of research now on what stress is, what it does to the body and why it's so important that we manage it. And we are still stuck, most of us are still stuck in a work culture that doesn't provide those resources or even worse, actively tries to destroy our health and well being.
Yeah. Now I know that your background is in healthcare. So were you. Because it sounded like. I'm trying to remember now from reading your bio, you certainly were seeing how other employees were affected by stress. But was that something you were going through as well? Is that kind of what led you to make this transition?
Yeah, yeah, it was. So I. So my, my path, my story is it's not a linear path like most people. So I have a PhD in psychology. I practiced as a mental health therapist for 10, about 10 years and then got an opportunity to work in administrative positions in health care and, and mostly in senior living, which was great. I really loved it at first. But living through COVID, living through just the industry changing into more of a corporate structure, it really, really affected me and I got burnt out. You know, when, especially in health care, it's always do more with less. It's always work harder, faster, longer. There are no holidays. There are no 24, 7, 365. You're getting calls on vacation. And I just, I was not doing well. I really worked myself into illness where I, I got COVID and E. Coli poisoning at the same time and I could not get well. It was really terrible. And I just, I knew that I had to make a change and I had to do something. So while I was laid up on the couch for two months, I decided, well, I might as well use this time productively. And so I'd always wanted to work with people again individually. I always knew I was going to go back to that. So I thought, well, why not now? So I decided to hang out of shingle, as my dad would say, and start my own business. And here I am, and I'm loving it and I'm so glad that I made the switch. But while I was working in healthcare, I did have some tips and tricks and techniques that I did with my team to reduce turnover, reduce stress, to build resilience, build a cohesive team so that we all had time back in our day so we could manage it as best we could in the environment that we had.
Well, that's a perfect segue then for perhaps for you to share, share a little bit, you know, because especially I assume you, you also maybe used some of that yourself besides taking the two months of, of rest, which you certainly needed. I'm sure your body and your mind and soul all needed that rest. But what were, maybe, maybe what are like one or two that you found have been really helpful for folks?
You mean modalities of healing? Yeah. Oh, gosh. Well, I personally, I, I, you know, I couldn't work, I couldn't talk, I, I couldn't get up. It was, it was really bad. So I really, I tried to heal my body like it was my job. Like I would, I did meditation, I did yoga, I got a naturopath, I got a functional medicine doctor. I had a western doctor. I had,...

When you get ideas, sometimes they won't work out. That's true. And sometimes they do. And it takes sometimes the courage to step out of your comfort zone and try it and see what happens.
I am Gloria Grace Rand, founder of the L.O.V.E. Method and author of the number one amazon best seller Live. Love. Engage. - how to stop doubting yourself and start being yourself. In this podcast, we share practical advice from a spiritual perspective on how to live fully, love deeply, and engage authentically so you can create a life and business with more impact, influence and income. Namaste. When was the last time you got an idea but fear kept you from moving forward? It happens, you know, we're human. But what I want to talk to you today is the willingness to take action, to step out of your comfort zone, to make a course correction and change. Change gears. Okay, I'm mixing, I'm mixing lots of metaphors here, but, you know, hey, what the heck? I can do that because I think it's important. And, and this is something that I've been going through recently. And in fact, today's episode, frankly, is a course career direction because I was going to talk about something completely different and it just wasn't feeling it. I just wasn't feeling it. This week I've been like, struggling to come up with what I wanted to talk about when what's been happening for me or the. Especially yesterday. Well, really this whole week said to me, no, you need to talk about this instead. So we're going to talk about course corrections. We're going to talk about not being afraid to leap in and do something. So let me, let me give you some context here. I have been trying to figure out. I'm trying to figure out the best way to say this. I've been, I've been evolving. Let's. Let's put it that way. Yes. So my, my audience for who I want to reach in my business has evolved over the. Certainly over the time that I've been in business since 2009. But certainly, but especially over the last year or two, I would say I have. I started a women's group called the Soulful Women's Network. And that was a way for me to be able to connect with other women entrepreneurs and other professional women. And so I've enjoyed doing, doing that. And in fact, we have a free Facebook group if you want to join. I've got the, I've got the link right below there. And I will put that in the show notes as well. Actually. You can go to Bit Ly forward slash soulnetwork and you can find it. So that, that's part of it. And, and I've been, I've been enjoying that. And in fact, I was.
Well, here, here's an example of this. So here's an example, of course, correcting. So I've been. Have this group going for the last couple of years and it's. I think a lot of, A lot of groups seem to be having this issue lately, especially ones that we would meet virtually twice a quarter and then once in person. Once a quarter. Once in person, in Melbourne, Florida, where I live. And it's been. It's been tough to. We have that. Well, let me say this. We've had the same. Same people show up, which are. Who are amazing women who show up every month. And, you know, once. Once in a while, we'll get a few. And then when we meet in person, we usually have a lot more. And I think it's because still in these years, after, After Covid, we still want to be able to meet in person. And so we had our Zoom meeting last week, and I was asking the group, you know, how we can. How we can grow this. You know, I want to be able to grow it. And, and after I got done, you know, we had some ideas of how to be able to, how to be able to make some improvements. And I was like, cool. I appreciated that. And then after we got done, I stayed on our Zoom with one of my good friends, and she said, gloria, you seem sad. And I said, yeah, I know. All of a sudden, I started feeling sad while we were talking, and that's not the first time that's happened during one of our Zoom calls. She said, well, maybe that's telling you something. And I said, yeah, maybe we need to meet in person. Maybe we need to meet in person every month instead of doing Zoom. And so that started this process for me of taking hard look at what I wanted the group to be. What was the purpose, who did I want to bring into the group, which has culminated now in the fact that yesterday I spent time coming up with a new name for the group and, and a new sort of premise for it. And so now it's still the Soulful women's network, but it's aimed at women over 50 who want to connect and grow and thrive. And now it's like I've suddenly been re-energized to… To do this group. And, and I, I. Yesterday I came up, I did my. I. I did our event, Facebook event description for. And planning of what our topic was going to be for February. So I went ahead and already did that, so it's not even. It's for a whole month away, but I went ahead and did it and I just, like, just, just wrote, you know, in the past, I've kind of used AI sometimes to help me, you know, come up with some messaging a little bit, you know, and then I would always tweak it, but this time it just flowed because I was on a roll, and it just flowed. And that's what I. That's the message. I really wanted to tell you is that when you get ideas, sometimes they won't work out. That's true. And sometimes they do. And it takes sometimes the courage to step out of your comfort zone and try it and see what happens.
You know, I've been experimenting over the last two years with this group and, you know, we grew the Facebook group to a certain amount. Well, this morning I had someone from South Africa who requested to be in the group. So, so, you know, it's like, boom. And then actually one of my other, one of the other members, she invited a bunch of people to the group yesterday because she's like, I love the new focus of the group. So it shows that, yes, making this course correction, kind of re. Re examining things is fruitful and, and it is going to result in what I want to do. And, and then yesterday I was also on a phone call with, with one of our members who, who doesn't live in Central Florida anymore. She, she moved out of the area and I had to let her know that, yeah, we're not going to be meeting on Zoom anymore. And she, she understood. And then we got to talking. She's going through some challenges in her life right now. Her husband is unfortunately in hospice care and, and she's looking at the future, you know, when, when she's going to be. She's going to become a widow and, and wondering what she's going to do now with this next chapter of her life. And, and she's someone like me, who has a background in marketing. We've been doing online marketing for a long time. And that's, that's how I started my business, doing SEO copywriting, you know, and, and we're like, yeah, it's just not, it not has that. It doesn't have quite that same pull. I still, don't get me wrong, if you need help copywriting, if you need, please feel free to reach out and, you know, go to my website. You can go to engage with gloria.com and you know, let's chat. It's just a, it's a simple little conversation. You know, if there's anything I can help you with. I still love the clients that I have when I do that work. And I've been pulled to do more to do deeper work.
And that's why I launched my Align to Shine Academy a couple months ago. And I'm going to be doing it again at the end of February because I want to really help women to stop doubting themselves and start being themselves. And during this conversation with my friend and listening to her talk about what's going on with her, and we're kind of going back and forth and she's talking about what I'm doing and everything....

Yoga needs to be personalized. And just another reason why working with a therapist as opposed to going to a group yoga class where 20 people or 50 people are all doing the exact same thing, that's not appropriate. So what's appropriate for me today may not be appropriate for me in two years or two years ago.
I am Gloria Grace Rand, founder of the L.O.V.E. Method and author of the number one amazon best seller Live. Love. Engage. - how to stop doubting yourself and start being yourself. Namaste. Would you like to know how to live happier and healthier in just 10 minutes a day? Well, if so, today's episode is for you because I've got just the guest coming up here shortly to teach you how to do that. But first, I do want to welcome you to Live Love Engage, especially if this is your first time tuning in. I am Gloria Grace, founder of Align to Shine Academy, and I work with spiritually minded women entrepreneurs to help them to break free from self doubt and step into their highest potential. And our guest today I think is someone who is pretty much in alignment with that as well. So she is Deborah Charnes and she's one of the first American bilingual certified yoga therapists. And she found her calling after spending two decades managing hundreds of news conferences and press briefings in the corporate world. And she's also the author of the book From the Boxing Ring to the Ashram: Wisdom for Mind, Body and Spirit. And we're going to be talking about all of this stuff because I got a couple questions to ask her regarding, regarding that and, and a couple things. So without further ado, I am going to bring her on right now and welcome you, Deborah, officially to Live Love Engage.
Thank you so much for having me. I think it's so important when one of the things that you mentioned is self-doubt and that can kind of hold all of us back.
Absolutely. Yeah, it's, it's definitely, definitely had. Has held me back in the past and I was fortunate enough to find some tools and strategies that I use now and that I also teach my clients as well. But I know, I'm sure that everyone who tuned into this episode is like, what do you mean? How can I be happy and healthy in just 10 minutes a day? So I wonder if we could start there. We'll kind of go into some other things I want to ask you about, but I figure let's, let's just get right to the meat of this, so.
Sure. Well, when I wrote my book, it's 12 chapters and each chapter has a different tip. And so each tip you can do in 10 minutes a day or less. Now if you're going to do all 12 of them together, then 12 times 10, it's a little bit longer. But the way that I wrote my book is I wanted to offer it so that you do what's right for you today and then maybe in two months you need to do something else. Maybe next year something else so you can layer on whatever is right for you. Because I certainly felt, you know, because I worked 80 hour weeks for, for most of my life and you know, was raising, you know, a family, had a family to take care of and I was traveling all over the world for work. So we don't have, not only do we, most of us not have much time, but oftentimes we don't have the mindset or the energy to be able to do what we need to do. And in fact, I lead workshops called First Love Yourself. And my First Love Yourself workshops are very much about self care and prioritizing yourself. And so that's why I wanted to give my advice in little snippets that you can do. You know, again, maybe today you focus on your back health, for example, you know, if you have a bad back, maybe you do something for your back health. I, my entire life have had back issues. I don't have any problems and I feel that, you know, my back is great, but I have to do things all the time to prevent backaches. The same thing I've had. I was diagnosed with digestive disorders when I was a kid. I don't have any problems, but there are certain things that I do in 10 minutes a day or less to prevent any issues. And those are physical. But what is emotional or spiritual sometimes can be harder to pinpoint. It's. I have, my background is very much founded in Ayurveda, which is the life science from India. And even my teachers in Ayurveda, they acknowledge that a lot of people would rather pop pills or take a shot of something rather than make lifestyle changes. And so that's why I felt it was important to offer lifestyle changes that are not only easy to do in 10 minutes a day or less, but fun. So for example, some of the things that I recommend for almost everyone are laugh every single day, dance every single day, sing every single day, smile every single day. You know that you can easily do all of those in 10 minutes a day or less, put them, mix them all together and it really helps your mind, your body and your spirit.
Oh, absolutely. Yeah. And I, I know that there are studies that have, you know, shown this. So it's, so it's not just you just saying that you believe it works. It's if you go do the research, truly there is research on this and, and it's so good for you and it makes you feel good, which also helps. And, and I love that you share that. Those are, those are all of my favorite things to do because I, I was a dancer growing up. I loved, you know, I did ballet and Tap and jazz and. But I still just like to, you know, sometimes dance around the living room, as they say. So I, I love that. And I. One of the things I wanted to ask you though, because you touched on this a little bit. So I'm curious what actually like, was there a certain point, what prompted you to be able to start, you know, making that shift from, you know, working in the corporate world? And how did you maybe find the tools that worked for you that then you were able to share?
I think sometimes we all need a little bit of a kick in the butt. I have met many people who made lifestyle changes because they lost their jobs. I did not lose my job, but I saw so many people who lost their jobs and as a result of that, they kind of grew into themselves. And I always felt, you know, I had to keep my job because I needed the steady paycheck. I needed all of the, the benefits that I enjoyed in terms of health care primarily. But finally I kind of was at a stage in my life where I was older, my daughter was already, she was in grad school and she was working and she had her own health care from her, her job. So that made me feel, you know, I can take care of myself. I don't need very much for myself. And that's something that I talk about in my. Also one of the chapters is about money doesn't buy you happiness. And you know, I don't, I don't need very much. But of course, you know, when you're talking about your children, you know, you want to give them everything you can. So I, I finally felt that I was at a stage in my life where I could kind of buckle up and take the leap and, and I did. And of course my only regret is that I didn't do it much earlier in life. And again, I think it goes back to self doubt. You know, we, we sometimes question, you know, how, how we can, how we can make changes. And it's always much more comfortable to do the same thing rather than take a leap of faith and take a jump and do something different.

Namaste. What if tracking your business finances could feel like a spiritual practice instead of a trigger fest? Well, today we are going to create a sacred money system that honors both your spiritual gifts and, you know, that practical thing you need to pay bills. But first, I want to welcome you to Live Love Engage. Especially if you are new to the podcast. I am Grace the light messenger and founder of Align to Shine Academy and I work with spiritually minded women entrepreneurs to break free from self doubt and step into their highest potential. And using my proven love method, I help them build unshakable confidence, attract premium clients and create a soul aligned business that thrives.
So it is the beginning of a new year as I'm recording this. In fact, I'm actually recording this on New Year's Day as a matter of fact, even though you are seeing it or listening to it a few days later. And I figured this was a good time to talk about, talk about money, talk about the first quarter and what you want to be able to do about keeping an eye on the bottom line. Frankly, something that I haven't always been so good about. I will be totally honest with you. My relationship with money has not always been, I wouldn't say friendly. I would say it's been more of a, it's been more of a struggle. You know, when I was working for an employer back, back a long time ago, you know, it was, it was simple, you know, it was, you know, you, you do your work, you get a paycheck, boom, boom, easy peasy. Being a business owner, it's a little different. And it's requires monitoring things like, you know, expenses and revenues and keeping track of things like that. And, and again, I haven't, I haven't been the greatest at that. And, and a lot of it is because of some inherited money patterns that I received from, from my parents through, through truly no fault of their own. But it's the way that they grew up. They both, my mom and dad grew up during the depression in the 1920s. So they had a different relationship to money. And money was hard to come by certainly. And you know, I grew up listening to, you know, and I'm sure probably a lot of you have heard these same things. Money doesn't grow on trees or, you know, you got to work hard for your money and then rich people are crooks. Have you ever heard of that one? That was, I think that that was really my mom's impression. You know, she was a union employee. She also didn't have the best relationship with her brother who was an entrepreneur. And so I think that was part of it as well.
But anyway, so, so I grew up, you know, having these, these beliefs which I didn't really, wasn't really conscious of. And, and you might have similar things. So it can show up in different ways, and it certainly did for me. Sometimes it's this fear of charging what you're worth. And so instead you wind up not appropriately pricing your products or services. And you often, well, maybe not often, but you maybe tend to over give in order to prove your value. And also with spiritual entrepreneurs in particular, especially people, I think in the healing, healing in particular modes, there is some sort of unconscious vow of poverty, you know, tied to spiritual work. Because, because again, it's like, you know, you, you want to heal people and you think that you shouldn't have to charge for that. However, you go to the doctor, don't you? And the doctor charges a lot of money. So even if you are perhaps doing energy work or you are doing massage therapy, for instance, you still have bills to pay, just like everybody else does. So that means you need to be able to charge what you're worth. And I've got, you can go back and find some other podcast episodes that I've done around that. I've got a whole book on this subject as well. My, my book Live Love, Engage how to Stop Doubting yourself and Start Being Yourself. And it's, you know, it's really important to be able to, to own your work, to value your uniqueness, and to open yourself to receive love in the form of money sometimes, frankly.
So, so let's get right to it. Let's, let's get to what we can do to have a better relationship with money in this new year, in this new quarter, so that you can really appreciate what you're doing, the work that you're doing in the world and, and, and rejoice over being compensated for it. So here, what I'm calling this sort of sacred money snapshot system. So if you've got a journal handy, you might want to take some notes. Otherwise you can go back in and listen to this episode again and then take some notes. But, and I'm having it, I'm having an idea here actually is also if you want, you, if you want to get a copy of this, I would be happy to email you a copy of it. So if you want to comment on, you can comment on the YouTube video when this goes out. Well, yeah, if you're watching this on YouTube now, obviously you could, you could comment but definitely reach out to me. You, you see, my, my social media links are, are here LinkedIn.com you can find me at Gloria Grace Rand YouTube. You can go to my website. You can go Gloria gracerand.com or just Gloria rand.com. that's how I originally set up the domain. And reach out to me. Okay. And I, I'll be happy, happy to help you with this. And I'm going to pause for one quick second because I think I have to sneeze. Let me see. Okay, I stopped. Good. All right. Okay, so here we do. So what I encourage you to do is we're going to do a weekly revenue check in. So take. And it's only going to take you like five minutes. You might want to do it, do it on a Monday, might be good, or maybe over the weekend possibly. And you want to create like a simple spreadsheet or a journal page and just put three columns in it. The first one is going to say income received.
The second one is going to be income promised. And this is like signed but not paid. So for instance, perhaps you especially when I was first doing my copywriting work, I would have a contract that I would send out to a client. And so they agreed, but until the money came in, that, that would go under that column. And then the third one is a gratitude note because as I always say, the more you have to be gratitude, the more you have to be grateful for, the more you have, the more you get to be, the more you will receive to, you know, it's a reciprocal thing. This is what I'm trying to say. The more you're grateful for, the more you have to be grateful for. Yeah, there we go. The more gratitude you express, the more you have to be grateful for. That's, I think, an easier way to say it. So one thing that you're proud of, financially, maybe you resisted spending money on a Starbucks coffee or something. This time you're like, ah, you know what? I'll fix a cup of coffee at home. I don't really need to spend however much it is. I don't, I don't get Starbucks coffee. I buy tea there sometimes. But lately I've been just making tea at home. So there you go. So, so again, set a specific time for this and, and put it on your calendar that you're going to do this every week. And, and then before you dive into the numbers, you might want to just kind of center yourself a little bit, take a deep breath, you know, and maybe light a candle. But make it, make It a ritual. Don't, don't just, you know, treat it as a chore. Treat this as something that is amazing and that you get to do. You get to look at the money that you have received over the last week or what you're grateful for, either one....

does your business feel true to your values? So take a look at that and see. And if it's, if it's out of alignment, then you're going to have to make some changes
Welcome to Live. Love. Engage.
Have you noticed how your business often carries the weight of old stories and other people's definitions of success? Well, as we stand on the threshold of 2025, it's time to create something different. A vision that aligns with your highest purpose while actually feeling good. So today we are going to be mixing strategy with soul through a chakra aligned approach to planning. No more forcing yourself into someone else's success template. So what I encourage you to do is perhaps pause this for a second and grab a journal and then come back and finish listening or watching depending because you're going to want to take some notes so you can create your most aligned year yet. And for those of you who may be new to the podcast, I am Gloria Grace Light messenger and I help female entrepreneurs really align with their, their soul so that they can overcome self doubt, overcome poor self worth, and really be able to attract their ideal clients in a way that really, really feels good to them. So as I said, we're, you know, it's the end of the year. I don't know about you, but boy, 2024 certainly went by fast. And this is typically a time for reflection. And actually I did a podcast episode a few weeks ago where I talked about this, making this year end review a sacred time and, and to be able to take your time with it. So I'm hoping that you've already done that because, you know, it's been, you know, whatever celebration you, you celebrate, you know, whether it's Hanukkah or Christmas or Kwanzaa perhaps, you know, most of those are just about done now. And now it's, we're heading into, you know, we're on the cusp of this brand new year. So hopefully you've already taken a look at your bottom line and see where you are and how well you did with accomplishing your goals.
And now I want to encourage you to go deeper, deeper and do some journaling. Not necessarily at this moment, but after the episode is done, do some journaling around what business now, what wisdom. That's what I meant to say, what wisdom your business journey has revealed to you this year. So, you know, take a few minutes and, and, and ponder that. And I, I'm going to be doing that myself as, because I, I want to be able to, I have some ideas of what I want to accomplish now in 2025, but I think it is a good idea to still really focus on what were some of the, yeah, what is some of that wisdom that you, that you gained and now you can. Because Once you do that, you know, it's always good to have an idea of like where you were so that now you know where you want to go. And that's what we're really going to dive in here to do today.
And I have this, came up with this wonderful way and I, and I will tell you part of it is it's related to the chakras and I find that this is. I, I'm again, I'm going to do this for myself as well because I, I think it's a really great way to be able to, to plan out and where you want to go. And for those of you who may be like, huh, chakras. I know most of you probably are very well versed in this because I just, I'm trusting that. But in case you're not, let me just tell you what they are. So basically the chakra is or chakras, there's, there's at least seven of them. I think some people say there's like 10, but there's seven main ones, let's put it that way, that are energy centers in your body and they, they sort of go along your spine. They start at the base of your spine. That's like the root chakra. And then they go up. You know there's, there's a sacral chakra down in, down right above that, the root chakra. Then there's a solar plexus which is kind of your, your tummy area. Then you've got, let's see, what do we get? We've got solar. Oh yeah. Then we got the heart, of course, the heart chakra. Then there's a throat chakra. Then there's the third eye which is in like middle of your forehead. And then there's a crown chakra which right above your head. Well, all of these are, they, they influence our physical, emotional and spiritual health. And you can also apply them to your business because you know, our business, it's a living entity in a way too. In fact, I think I talked about this on that last, that episode when I was doing the year end review and because especially if you're a solopreneur, you know, you, you sort of think of your business as your baby anyway. So, so why not look at it from this energetic standpoint and you know, I think you'll understand as I go through this. So, so I'm just going to take. This is going to be the bulk of our episode today is focusing in on this because I think it's a really great way a Unique way to really look at your business.
So, so looking at the root chakra, this is business foundation. So a healthy, when you're, when you've got a healthy root chakra, this ensures that your business has a strong foundation that can withstand challenges and setbacks. So what does that look like? Well, that means taking a look at, you know, how financially stable your business is. What are your pricing structures that you've got going on, what type of systems do you have in your business right now? And are they serving you? Are they really serving you? Well, you know, are you using automation tools, for instance? Are you, you know, taking advantage of platforms? You know, I'm thinking I used to use Asana, I kind of got away from that. Now I'm using Notion, not totally as effectively as I would like, but it does help me stay organized in different ways. And Google Calendar, I use a lot. So things like that, you can also look at your client agreements and contracts and just take a look at these things and then ask yourself. And again, what I would encourage you to do right now is I'm going to encourage you to write down these questions in your journal and then go back after this episode is done and answer these questions. So I would challenge you right now to, to write down this, here's the question. Where does your business need stronger roots? So that could be something that you can take a look at now.
The sacral chakra, as we move up this. The sacral chakra is all about creativity. So this in your business represents that ability to think outside the box and come up with new ideas that can drive growth and success in the new year. So this is a good way you can evaluate, think about your content creation process and see again, you can kind of look at what's worked so far, maybe see where you want to take it in the new year. Look at, are you wanting to develop new services or programs in the new year? Evaluate your client relationships and see how that's going and then ask yourself, here's another question, what wants to be expressed through your business?...

Namaste. Imagine if your biggest business flaws and I'm doing this, I'm doing air quotes here. Flaws were actually your untapped superpowers. Many spiritual entrepreneurs tend to hide parts of ourselves we think aren't professional enough or are too much for business. But on today's show I am going to challenge that thinking, going to point out that our hidden or shadow sides are like, you know, deeper emotions, need for control, fear, you know, things like that. Actually they hold the keys to our next level of leadership. But first, I do want to welcome you to Live Love Engage, especially if you are new to the podcast. I am Grace the light messenger and founder of Align to Shine Academy and I work with spiritually minded entrepreneurs who are ready to break free from self doubt and step into their highest potential. Using my proven love method, I help them build unshakable confidence, attract premium clients and create a soul aligned business that thrives. And I don't know about you, but that's what I want and I'm building it actually right now as well. So yeah, so let's, let's talk about shadow sides. Now if you're not familiar with this term, it's what psychologist Carl Jung referred to as that unconscious part of our personality that contains the qualities and emotions that maybe we don't quite like. You know, like anger, resentment, stuff like that.
Well, in our business, these shadows can actually manifest as unconscious limiting beliefs like I'm not good enough. And that can lead to things like self sabotage, poor decision making or strained relationships with maybe clients or team members. And sometimes these repressed emotions, these shadows can also come up unexpectedly as strong reactions to challenges or can leave you kind of prone to conflicts with others can also going to hinder your ability to collaborate and really keep you from being an effective leader if it's not addressed. And business owners and CEOs who are operating out of their shadows are also kind of reluctant. Not just kind of, they are, I would say reluctant to take risks and step out of your comfort zone and have a hard time accepting feedback. And there are really five archetypes, I guess I think that's the right word to describe it. Five. Five. Yeah, I'm going to stick with it. It's archetypes that describe these patterns. You've got your inner perfectionist who is afraid of mistakes and judgment. There's the people pleaser who has trouble setting boundaries and pricing their services. You've got the overachiever who goes through burnout cycles because they're just doing too much in their Business trying to do it all. You got the wounded child who has trust issues in business relationships and the hidden leader who fears true power and visibility. And I gotta tell you that during the first, I would say eight to 10 years of my business, I embodied one or more of those archetypes at any given time. And what I do know too is that, I mean, certainly for me, and I believe this is probably the case with a lot of CEOs who are, you know, dealing with these shadows or, and entrepreneurs, you know, solopreneurs, things like that.
The seeds for the shadows really planted in childhood. And I know as me, I'm a daughter of an alcoholic and I know that that led to a lot of trust issues, you know, because I couldn't, didn't quite know what was going on in my house from day to day. And then also because of a lot of the. I had an older brother and older sister and they fought with my, my mom and not so much my dad, but really my mom a lot, you know, yelling matches and things like that. I decided that I was going to be the peacemaker in the house. I'm going to be the good girl, I'm going to be the responsible one. And that carried over into adulthood and then, you know, wound up being, you know, like I said, the people pleaser, you know, one who didn't want to raise her rates for fear of, you know, maybe her clients aren't going to hire her anymore. Didn't. Not true. One of my longtime clients who, who. One of my first clients who was also a longtime client when I finally realized, oh, duh, I should have been like, you know, asking for a raise, you know, raising my rates, they paid it without any hesitation. I was like, oh, really? Oh man. Ah, so that's what happens, you know, when we're, when we're dealing with these shadow sides. So how do we, how do we move past them? You know, it's one thing to, you know, be going along, but what do we do?
Well, first thing is to recognize them because you can't fix what you can't see. So if you have things like, you know, if you. Well, number one, if you see yourself at any of those archetypes that I just mentioned, that's a good clue. But maybe you've got, maybe you feel guilty about making money. You know, I know a lot of heart centered entrepreneurs, especially in like healing modalities, they want to help everybody, you know, because we got a big heart and I feel that way too. So, you know, you, you hesitate to Charge a lot of money. However, you got bills to pay too. So you do have to be able to stand your ground a bit. So, you know, that's one of the things that you can be aware of. If you have resistance to receiving support, perhaps, you know, you want to soldier on and do everything yourself and you don't want to ask for help. Maybe you feel like an imposter sometimes. You see other people succeeding and you're like, who am I to really be? You know, this, this one, this entrepreneur, I, I can't live up to those people. You know, comparison itis as well kind of plays in here. And you, you need to acknowledge that. You really do. You've got, you've got to be able to own it. And as I mentioned in my episode that was out two weeks ago where I talked about this, doing like a spiritual year end review. Don't beat yourself up over it because that's not going to do yourself any good either. I've learned that lesson too. You're human. You're allowed to make mistakes. And, you know, some of these things were things that you picked up in childhood that were maybe, you know, buried unconscious things.
So you can overcome whatever is going on. You can overcome your shadows. That is the good news. So like I said, acknowledging them is half the battle right there. Because with awareness, you can decide, number one, you can decide that you want to make some changes in your business. And that's the first thing you know, okay. And then if you can either decide to take action on your own and just, you know, power through and say, okay, today I'm not going to do things the way I did it before, there are some people that probably can do that with no problem. I would say, though, probably for the, the majority of people, though, who are going through this, you're going to need some support. What does that look like? It could be simply calling a friend. It could be calling a fellow entrepreneur. Maybe you've got someone in your network who is really kicking butt. Talk to them, you know, seek out a mentor and ask for advice and say, hey, this is what. Well, first find out if they're open to offering it. Giving the advice. I should say find out. You might have to pay some money to them and not just expect that they're going to be giving you advice for free and treat that as an investment in yourself and an investment in your business. So it could be that you need to hire, actually hire a coach. I have worked with. I don't know, I'm thinking maybe like a dozen coaches over the 15 plus years, now that I've been in business, yeah,...

I'm really glad to have you because, you know, cluttering, decluttering, I should say, is something that I have gotten better at the declutter part as opposed to the cluttering. I was really good at doing that and my desk is in a semi state right now. I still could do a couple things to tidy up, but I know that this is something that a lot of people have, you know, have some challenges with. So I thought maybe we'd start right there. You know, why is it that so many people find it challenging to get rid of clutter whether it is physical or mental or even I should add digital as well.
Yeah, good point. Very good, very good. Well, as I said before we talked, I or before we went on looking at my background. Right. It looks cluttered. We just moved. So I unpacked everything in my office, but. And everything doesn't have a place yet on there. But that's my new bookcase that I didn't have in my old house. So I'm like, I'm trying to play with where I want things, but everything is useful. That's my. I'm on the other side. That's my drawer of all my materials, my paper and pens and notebooks and stuff. And so it might look cluttered. And this is one thing that we don't judge. When we walk into someone's house, they've called us for a reason. People come to you for a reason. Right? Okay, How. How can we help you? How can we mentor you? And I think I grew up, I always say, I come to this business honestly. I'm 58. My parents would be 90ish right now. And they. I call them collectors, or I call us, most of my clients, lifers, not hoarders. Right. Hoarders usually don't reach out for help unless they're referred to us by a therapist or a family, you know, family friend. And they have to be ready to let go. But also with them, we. If anybody with that, struggles with that, we start simply not okay, we got to clear this whole house out. It's a mess. You. No, no, you can't do that. Right. You just. I mean, people do. We don't. But you walk into a house and you say, okay, you're struggling. How can we help? Most of it is. And like I wrote in my book 17 Spatulas and the man who Fried an Egg, most of us, I don't want to declutter like, this has been here probably a week. No, I don't want to come home and do my own house. You know, it's time consuming sometimes. It's stressful, and it doesn't make a difference in people's lives until it does. If that makes sense. Until you take a moment and look or you're moving, you take a moment, you say, like you said, well, my desk has some things, but it's still. I can still function mentally, right. If it gets to be to the point where, for me, myself, and most of my clients is. I can't even find my pants in my closet. And yet you have 75 pairs of pants. You know, I can't find something like, it's just. It's too much. And most people kind of. I don't want to say, want to time out or, you know, just say, oh, forget it. It's too much. It's. How do you eat an elephant? I say this all the time, one bite at a time. You walk in your closet, you look at your house, and you say, it's too much. You know, because you're looking at the whole elephant. What I teach, and it's in my book, the LITL System. The name of my company used to be Leave it to Lisa. And like I said, I have add, so I love acronyms. And Leave it to Lisa is L I, T, L, the LITL system. L, I, T, L, the “little” System. So the first L is let it go. What are the things in your life you know, you don't want? So when you walk in that closet or you look at your desk over the weekend, Gloria, maybe you're sitting there and you're like, okay, Lisa had some good things to say. Let's let. What can I get rid of? Or what doesn't belong on my desk at this time? You remove it, you throw it away, you move it to where it's. You want it to be. And you've released a little of that energy and you've given yourself a little confidence to say, hey, I can do this. It doesn't have to be the whole elephant. You know, we don't have to do the whole garage in one weekend or in one day. And I think that's what stops people. Most of my clients, they've tried to themselves or they. It's like starting a diet, starting quitting smoking. You know, sometimes you need some guidance. You need a plan. You know, I've. I'm still holding on to the COVID 19 from how many years ago that I've gained weight. And it's like, okay, yeah, I know what I need to do to stop to lose the weight, to remove the clutter. But you have to make a commitment to yourself. And until again, until it gets so bad, most people won't.
Yeah. And so. And I'm not sure. I got. I got slightly sidetracked because my cat decided to jump up on my desk. So luckily there is still space. I have a nice long table. And so he decided he wanted to take a nap here instead of on the chair where he is supposed to be. But. But I wanted to just kind of get back a little because. And I definitely want to go some more into that. That little system, because I was definitely. Little system. Sorry the T comes before the L. But I just want to get back a little bit more on why.
What happens. Do you think that people maybe let it get to that point where they really, really do need to have somebody? They can't just handle it themselves anymore? Is it just. It just sort of just accumulates. You get busy with other stuff and you don't notice it sometimes. What do you think?
Yeah, I think it depends on. That's a really good question. Actually. It. It depends on so many factors. Let's just start there. Depends on the age. Now, I've worked with clients who have lived in their houses 50 years, 60 years, and it was their parents house. People don't get rid of anything. Why would you get rid of it? You might use it someday. I call it the Someday syndrome. I know there is an actual Someday syndrome, but I've renamed it for organizing. Someday I'll get rid of it. Someday I'll use it. Someday I'll give it away....

Your business is still an extension of you and it deserves the care and respect that you show others, not only this time of year, but all year long.
Welcome to Live. Love. Engage.
Namaste. Does your year end business review feel more like a dreaded chore. Oh. Than a sacred opportunity? Well, many entrepreneurs kind of rush through their December planning missing the chance for some really deep reflection and aligned growth. And so today I'm going to be sharing myself signature approach to year end business reflection that combines strategic review with some sacred practice. But first, I do want to welcome you if you are new to Live Love Engage. I am Gloria Grace and I help female entrepreneurs and lightworkers attract ideal clients by going beyond traditional search engine optimization techniques to embrace my definition of SEO, which stands for spiritually engaging others. And it's about really getting into alignment, which is kind of what we're going to talk about a little bit here today. So I've been doing my own reflection of business over the last couple last, last week or two, I guess, reviewing what's gone well and, you know, what needs to be addressed in 2025 and like being more intentional about my marketing, for instance, and paying closer attention to analytics. I'm, you know, numbers are, numbers are, are fun, but they're not always something that I enjoy to do. Although it's very important. You know, it's, that's the thing. It's like to be a business owner, you've got to know your numbers. They drill this into you and, and it's important. And at the same time, you know, sometimes it can really, it really can feel like a chore to do that, especially this time of year because for those of you watching on YouTube, you will not that. I have my little, I've got a little Christmas tree back there that's a, it's a, it's a treasured family heirloom, I guess I could call it now because it was something that my mom bought years ago, probably 25 years ago by now, maybe even 30, and that I've been keeping around. And it's, it's used to have a different stand, but that broke. So now my, I created a thing. I have this old little Santa Claus mug and I put some of that floral foam in there and stuck it in there so I could still use it. And I'm also, I'm in Florida and it's been a little chilly the last couple of mornings. It's been only in the 40s, so I, I also have my little Christmas mug. Peace on earth, goodwill toward women. And so I'm sipping a cup of tea while we, while we chat today. So. All right, enough of that. Let me get to it. We got to get to it. So Reviewing. So what I encourage you to do is to take some time, especially I would say in this next week before it things get really too hectic with holiday celebrations, holiday parties and, you know, what, not, or, you know, wrapping presents and maybe you're going to be shipping them, which I still have to do myself. If you still do Christmas cards, you know, maybe you're doing that, whatever. But your business is still an extension of you and it deserves the care and respect that you show others, not only this time of year, but all year long. So before you dive into doing this financial review, what I encourage you to do is to take a moment, you know, get grounded a little bit and just take a few deep breaths. Because depending on how your year went, you know, let's hope that it was a really good year. But, you know, maybe there were some areas that didn't quite go as you had planned. But it's still important to just. Again, we want to treat this as, treat your business as, as this really spiritual part of you, because it is, it's. You are, you are a divine spirit living in this human shell and think of your business that way, too. And so set an intention to be really mindful and reflecting about the state of your business before you dive in. Because I think when you can kind of set that stage and really be calm, then it's just going to help you go through things so much better. Because, let's face it, there's a lot of things to take a look at. Just, here's just a few.
You know, you want to maybe review how many, how many new clients you had this year. You want to look at revenue milestones. You know, ideally you set some goals for yourself at the beginning of the year and so see how you were doing or at least maybe just in this last quarter to see how you are, reflect on, you know, maybe projects that you completed this year, if you've made any improvements and your productivity, time management, things like that. Go over testimonials. Did you receive some good testimonials and what have you done with those? I might have to do. I should maybe do an episode about that in the new year or maybe still even this month, possibly on testimonials, you know, looking at social media engagement. Now, this is, this is something that I've been spending a lot of time on LinkedIn this year, putting a lot of effort in that. And that's something that I kind of started off the beginning of the year being very diligent about keeping track of things. And then I don't know, somewhere over the summer, I kind of lost track, so I got to get back on that. And I've been putting some processes in place using some Excel spreadsheets and things to track that if you have any product launches that you did this year and, or maybe some areas for. Of cost, cost saving. So the main thing is that as you're going through this, if you manage to hit your targets, shall we say, and you really did, or maybe even exceeded your expectations that you had celebrate, dance around your office, put on some music and just go, yay, I did it. That is a wonderful way to be able to. Then, you know, again, you're lifting your vibration so that you can carry that enthusiasm forward into the new year. And on the other hand, if there is ever the, you know, there may be some areas that you didn't quite feel as happy about and that you would like to do better on in this coming year. So what I encourage you to do is to not get down on yourself about that, because you're only human. You did the best you could at the time that you were going through that. And in fact, that might even be something for you to think about were there extraneous situations going on in your life at the time, perhaps here in Florida? Well, and actually in a lot of across the Southeast, we've had a couple of hurricanes that have really done a number on people's livelihoods, their personal lives, as well as their businesses. And there's all sorts of other things that, you know, happen other, you know, it could be something, maybe you had a family member get ill and you had to become a caregiver. There's lots of different things that can come up and they can, you know, perhaps keep you from accomplishing exactly what you had intended to accomplish in a particular time period during the past year. So give yourself the grace to look at that and say, okay, yeah, you know, that happened and I'm not thrilled about it and I've moved forward. And that's the thing, is that if you can end the year still in business. Hey, hey, hey. You're, you're,...

Namaste. Have you ever felt like your body was trying to tell you something important, but you couldn't quite figure out the message? MarBeth Dunn
Well, I'm so grateful to be here with you, especially being grateful the day before Thanksgiving.
    Gloria Grace Rand
That's true. Yes, yes. We are recording this the day before Thanksgiving, and it's been. Yeah, gratitude's been on my mind a lot this past couple of weeks, for sure. So I still can't believe it's the end of the month and that December is like Sunday. It's like, what? What happened to the year? I know, I know. It goes by so fast now, but. All right, anyway, let's get to it. Come on. People are here. They want to know about somatic healing. And so I thought, let's start with that. If you can explain to our audience what exactly is somatic healing?
    MarBeth Dunn
Well, the word somatic, it references your body. And we talk about the body mind connection and how we need to be aligned with our body and mind. Well, is somatic healing in a nutshell? Basically, our bodies hold all of our traumas, they hold all of our old pains, all of the issues that we really haven't dealt with. They kind of reside in. They do reside in your body. And your body loves you so much. Your body is your partner and it really wants to help you. So it will send you messages, which may be like a pain in the neck when somebody who really annoys you is around, or you might feel a stabbing pain in your back when you feeling betrayed or just those stress knots in your shoulders or in your. In your solar plexus when you're feeling stressed and your body is saying, hey, hey, listen to me, you got to address this. We want to keep you healthy. So that's basically what I feel that somatic healing is.
    Gloria Grace Rand
Yeah. And I can relate to that so much because I have definitely learned to pay attention more to my body when it is signaling those things. And in particular, I remember I had. After my sister passed, I was having a lot of back issues. And just like, you know, really, it really got to be quite frustrating. And I hadn't. I've had issues with the back in the past where I've, like, you know, bent some way, but it was just. No, it was just this pain, and I had to. Finally, I went to someone who was able to help me release that. But I have a feeling probably if I maybe met you, knew you back then, he might have been able to help me in a different way, perhaps.
    MarBeth Dunn
So our back issues are very often about support. You know, maybe you're. You're feeling like a loss of support. Maybe your sister.
    Gloria Grace Rand
Oh, yeah. Supportive, big time. Absolutely. Yeah. She. I used to call her my cheerleader because she would always be the one who would encourage me in my business. And without her, I was feeling quite lost for quite a while. So. Makes sense. How else do our bodies communicate with us, you know, because, you know, I can get that with our. With pains and certainly. But are there any other ways that we. We have that, you know, body knocking on our door and saying, hey, pay attention to me?
    MarBeth Dunn
Yeah. Well, I was just reminded years ago, I was invited to speak on a Law of Attraction cruise. I had a radio show on the Law of Attraction network. And so I was speaking on this cruise. And I work for myself, you know, I don't work for someone else. I'm an entrepreneur. So in order to go on the cruise, I really did not have to record a lot of episodes before I left. I didn't have to record any because I could just, you know, set up some replays for while I was gone. I did not have to write a blog, but I was just a workaholic. And I insisted that I had to record all the episodes for while I was away. And I had to write all these blogs for while I was away. And I kept feeling this pressure building in my chest, but I wasn't paying any attention to it because I was pushing forward. Well, do you know, I stood up one day after working too many hours. I stood up and I stepped on a plug. You know, the kind of Plug that goes into the wall. And I heard a pop in my foot. Well, I spoke on the Law of Attraction Crews from a wheelchair.
    Gloria Grace Rand
    Oh, no. Oh. Oh, dear.
    MarBeth Dunn
My body was trying so hard to get my attention. Like, you don't have to do this. What are you doing? You know, in retrospect, you know, it's actually funny, but at the time, you know, yeah, it was ironic.
    Gloria Grace Rand
Absolutely. And I think, and maybe you can correct me if I'm wrong, but I've heard also that a lot of times when we, you know, come down with a cold or something, it's really our body's way of saying, hey, take a break. You're doing too much.
    MarBeth Dunn
Well, not even. Not necessarily that. When I was recently in Las Vegas with my family, we were all in an Airbnb together, and the night before we were all going to leave. I woke up at three in the morning and I had this pain in my chest, like I was coming down with a cold. So I knew what to do. I started communicating with my body and I use muscle testing. And I just basically said to my body, I'm coming down physically with a cold. Nope. I'm feeling emotional issues coming up. Yes. So basically the sadness and the grief from leaving my family, you know, just feeling that sadness of separation was right there in my chest. And when I, you know, understood what was happening, I knew how to release it. And the next morning, you know, we were all feeling that sadness. We were all feeling that sadness of separation, but it doesn't mean we have to get sick, you know. And I found also, I lost a boyfriend. He died suddenly a long time ago, and I immediately started coming down with bronchitis because that's where our chests hold our grief and our sadness. You may also find that your throat can feel congested, and those are emotions that get stuck in your throat. So the key here is to be able to communicate with the body. And I find, you know, an easy way to do that is using a pendulum or muscle testing. And, you know, they're not difficult techniques. Be happy to share with you you know how to do it. But they're really helpful when you don't understand what your body's trying to tell you.
    Gloria Grace Rand
Yeah, definitely, because it can be confusing sometimes and you may think, you know, but. Yeah. So, well, I tell you what, let's go. Can you do maybe a short example of what muscle testing is and maybe also describe it? I don't know if you can do that on here because I know normally, I know people will do, like, your, you know your arm and things.
    MarBeth Dunn
I use a different kind of muscle testing. I loop my fingers together, my thumb and forefinger together. And if I would say, like, my name is MarBeth, and I held my fingers, it would hold. But if I said that my name is Grace, they pull apart. So I use the muscle testing by saying a statement, and I would test it by using the name. You know,...

Our guest today shares her groundbreaking approach to turning emotional wounds into wisdom, helping you realign with your soul's purpose and reclaim your power on all levels. I am Gloria Grace, and I help female entrepreneurs attract ideal clients by going beyond traditional search engine optimization techniques to embrace my definition of SEO, spiritually engaging others. And joining us today, as I said, is a wonderful woman who I have actually met in person, and she's a wonderful lady. Her name is Amanda Beth Johnson, and she is a certified divorce coach, bestselling author, and speaker who combines over 30 years of crisis intervention experience with six theta healing certifications to offer unparalleled guidance.
And her compassionate approach empowers clients to navigate the complexities of divorce with resilience, fostering healing and personal growth during life's most challenging transitions. So without further ado, I'm going to bring her up and welcome you officially to Live, Love, Engage, Amanda. Hi, Gloria.
Thanks for having me. I really appreciate it. I just I love catching your show each week.
It's just always something to look forward to. Well, I appreciate that. And yeah, you know, we've we've known each other for a couple of years now, but this is the first time I get to really put you in the spotlight.
And I'm excited to do that because we've, I've seen you really blossom over the last couple of years. And so I thought we'd start out by asking you a little bit about, because I kind of knew where you were a couple years ago, but what inspired you to really focus on divorce coaching? Well, as everything in my life, it's it's a crazy story. So in one of our networking things, I was talking about, you know, building my healing business and bringing aligned clients into it and an affiliate.
And that says, you need to you need to focus on divorce. I'm like, I didn't include that as part of my story. I never said that part of it.
And then it was like, oh, okay, well, this is true. I'm pretty well versed with divorce. I'm a child of divorce.
My mom was divorced four times and I was there for all of them. I was widowed. And then I myself was divorced.
And just being able to feel into that. And that was probably the springboard opportunity in my life, because divorce brings out so many things. And it just seems to be that opportunity to look at, you know, little girls, we plan the perfect, the perfect marriage, the perfect wedding and how everything's going to be perfect.
And we're going to live happily ever after. And I had that for most of my marriage. And then when I didn't have that, and it came about that divorce was imminent, and I really lost myself because I had attached so much of my identity to being a mom and being a wife and doing all of those things.
And then when the divorce happened, I just, it shattered. And I realized that I needed help. I needed to get out of this funk.
And it took me, took me a few years. And so when I found my way through healing, and now I'm promoting the healing and someone says, I need to focus on the divorce part of it. And it's like, that's what led me to the healing.
So being able to work with individuals when they realize that this big shift, and statistically, it's the second most emotional and devastating thing you go through in your life. And so I want to be there to help people and to help them to understand that divorce isn't fatal. There's a lot of recovery and a lot of healing and so much opportunity.
And when I work with folks, if we can save your marriage, I definitely want to do that. It is a sacred institution. I'm not promoting divorce, but when it happens, and the statistics tell us it happens far too often, I want to help you rebuild your life.
The life you want to have. Yeah, because you really do need healing from it because you're grieving your marriage, right? Admittedly. Yeah, which I don't think people always necessarily think about it that way.
But yeah, I know just for me, I've gone through a separation. And when I was pondering that, I was like, just as you said, you had this ideal and I come from a broken family, as they say too. My parents divorced and I was like, I was going to be the one who was going to have this marriage that was going to last a lifetime.
And we're still married, we're just not living together. And so it's a little different, but yeah. And I love how this person suggested, well, you know, yeah, you need to talk about divorce.
But I like that. So how do you incorporate then, like say, the healing in with the divorce coaching? Or is that still something separate? I was just curious. So when you look at what a divorce coach does, a divorce coach is kind of like your private personal assistant that helps break down always big, impossible tasks as a divorce and chunking into little pieces that you can deal with and makes things more manageable.
And so a lot of times we have our best friends, we have our, you know, a lot of people in our lives who are very well-meaning. They aren't always objective with us. Sometimes they side with us.
And it's more important to have someone who's objective, that can keep you focused on what your goal is. And one of the first things that I feel individuals need to do is they need to process that emotional part. And so many of us are empaths, and when you're an empath, it is so much more difficult to separate out what are my feelings and what are their feelings, so that you know what you're really dealing with.
And to be able to pull out and do that emotional healing, because like you said, it's grieving. So there are those five stages of grief that you go through, you know, the denial, the, you know, all the way through to acceptance and getting through each of those stages. And divorce hurts.
And then we have the whole pressures of society bringing us down, you know, all of your divorces fail. It's not a failure. You know, you work in a job, you like your job in the beginning, and then, and then your job isn't working for you and you leave a job and, and you do something different in life.
You're not a failure. And some marriages live their course. And so when you can recognize that you're not happy in that situation, and you move forward and you continue your life, that's not because you were a failure.
Things just don't always work out in a marriage. And so first, I like to help put that in its perspective. And when we can take blame out, and we can take out that anger, and we can work through that in a healthy way.
And so I bring Theta into that so that we can clear those limiting beliefs, those limiting beliefs that divorce is a failure, that you did something wrong, you know. And so when we can take that, it doesn't change the experience, and it doesn't change that it was, pretty, I don't want to say awful, but it was an experience. It was a big deal.
But when you can look more objectively at that big deal, then you can move forward with your life instead of being stuck in that muck, feeling icky every day. Yeah. And we don't want to feel icky.
I think we just, just think, we just accept that it's okay....
