    TRANSCRIPT
If you thought you already knew how to succeed in business and life, listen up because our guest is about to share the secret sauce that doesn't involve confidence or even your skill set. Intrigued? I hope so. But first, I want to welcome you to Live Love Engage, especially if this is your first time tuning in. I am Gloria Grace, founder of Align to Shine Academy, and I work with spiritually minded women entrepreneurs to break free from self doubt and step into their highest potential. And joining us in just a moment is Tara Geraghty. She is a resilience expert, certified mindset and confidence life coach who empowers others to turn adversity into opportunity. A survivor and etiquette Advocate, she shares 26 plus years of leadership experience through her TEDx talks, bestselling book and global community. Hey girl, you can. And she inspires confidence and lasting success through that organization. And I think that's actually. Well, I know we connected on LinkedIn, but we also, I've also been involved in that community, so it's pretty cool. So without further ado, I'm going to bring her up here and, and welcome you officially, Tara, to Live Love Engage. Yay.
I'm so excited to spend this time with you.
Oh, me too, me too. And I know that the topic we're talking about today, now to let you in on the secret here, is about resilience. And I know that you have said resilience is actually more important than confidence, skill or a positive attitude. So I'd love to know why you think that. It sounds, sounds interesting, but, but yeah, explain.
And I will say that for a long time. So when I, when I was young and I started my first business, I thought it was skill. I thought skill is if you just learn, then you'll be successful. And then after working with hundreds of women, I realized that it really wasn't skill, it was their confidence. Because I could see someone come in who maybe didn't have the highest skill set, but they were super confident and, and they would be successful. So then for a very long time I thought, well, it's confidence. And I do think that confidence counts. I think confidence is important. But then as my daughter has gotten older, so I'm a single parent, I have raised my daughter on my own. She's now off in college and my daughter's an only child. I'm her only parent. Her cousins are much younger than her. She doesn't really have that nuclear support system around her. And I think as I get older and she gets older, I'm not always Going to be here, right? And what is the most important skill set I want to pass on to my daughter that I would feel when I leave this planet, she will be okay. And as I really thought that through and looked at the last few years and watched as she's gone to college and the experience that the other kids are having, it really came down to resilience. If I could only give her one thing that would make her successful in life. It's resilience. And it really trumps confidence, skill, and everything else. And here's why. Because by definition, resilience simply means it's the ability that if you get knocked down, you can pick yourself back up. It literally means to spring back, to spring forward. So I always picture you'll tell by age. Now, do you remember if my hair didn't tell you already, but my age, that. Do you remember those clowns, they had the. They were weighted at the bottom and you blew them up. And they were like the punching bag. You would punch them back, but because they were weighted on the bottom, they would just spring back up. It didn't matter how many times you punched him. It didn't matter how hard you punched him. You could not keep this clown down. It was going to come back up, right? That is how I think about resilience. It's not that you don't get knocked down. Sometimes life knocks you down, right? It's that, can you get yourself back up? And think about it. If, if you don't have that ability, it doesn't matter how confident you are. You could be confident, you're just lying on the ground, right? You can have as many skills, but if you, if the skill is not how to get back up. And I think, wow, life is. You know, sometimes people use that question, why me? Why do things happen to me? You know, I went through a domestic violence divorce the same year my, My daughter was 3 and she had stage 4 cancer. And you would think that would be a good season to ask, why me? I never ask that question. I think it's a narcissistic question because it implies that somehow I'm special and I should get through life unscathed. But the rest of you fools, well, you should have problems, right? It's not a. It's not a helpful question. And so we know that everybody, if you're living life, you're going to get knocked down at some point. And it could be something like a devastating job loss, it could be a divorce, it could be a devastating diagnosis for you. Or in my case, for my child, it could be something that happens in the world. I mean, we just went through this, right, a few years ago. If we do not know how to pick ourselves back up, it is like you are at the mercy of life, and that is scary. When you know you can pick yourself back up, when you know you are resilient, when you know that, hey, even if I get knocked down, I can come back, and I will come back better. I will take what I learned in that ditch. I will take what I learned when I got knocked down. And, boy, I'm going to spring back, and I'm going to spring forward. You become the most powerful person you know, and I think that in. That will extend in every area of your life because you're going to be more likely to say yes to an opportunity. You're going to be more likely to go for your dreams. You're going to be more likely to step out of your comfort zone because you're not going to be afraid. Well, what if I fail? What if I got knocked down? What if it doesn't work out? You know, what if I don't know how to pick myself back up? You'll say yes to those incredible things because in the back of your mind you go, well, if I get knocked down, if I fail, if it doesn't work out, I can pick myself back up. I know how to do that. Right. And it's wild to me that the more I've talked about this and the more I've gone down this rabbit hole of resilience, I go, yes, this is so important. But we're not teaching this in school, we're not teaching this in college. There's no class on how do I become the mentally strongest person I know. Right?
    Right.
And I'm like, this is a life skill we all need. And for sure, if we didn't believe that the last few years with what's happened in the world has taught people we need resilience.
Well, that brings me to my next question. That is for someone listening out there, especially women entrepreneurs in particular, how can they start to cultivate resilience for themselves?
Yeah, you're not going to like this answer.
    Okay,
Well Let's talk about it. Resilience is a muscle. Okay, so you have a resilience muscle. And how do you build a muscle? Well, the way you build a muscle is you go to the gym, you work it out to the point that it actually tears. You're tearing the fibers, right? You're breaking down the fibers. You're causing a little bit of, quote, trauma, and then the muscle rebuilds itself stronger. That is how you develop muscles. You have to kind of work them, hurt them. And that's why they talk about that good pain, you know, that exercise pain. And then they grow back stronger, and then they grow back stronger, and you keep kind of putting them through a little bit of pain to gro

Namaste. If you've been moving at the speed of business, checking off tasks, chasing goals, and somewhere along the way forgot to acknowledge how far you've actually come, well, this episode is your permission slip to stop, breathe and celebrate. But first, I want to welcome you to Live Love Engage. Especially if this is your first time tuning in. I am Gloria Grace, founder of Align to Shine Academy, and I empower women entrepreneurs to step into their highest potential with clarity and confidence. Now, as heart centered entrepreneurs, we are so often focused on serving others that we sometimes neglect to witness our own transformation. But today, we're going to be changing that pattern. Now, as I'm recording this, it is the end of the first quarter of 2025. And if this brought you unexpected success or maybe some beautiful lessons disguised as challenges, I promise that you have grown more than you realize. And I encourage you to maybe pause this for a second, go pour yourself a cup of tea, grab your journal to take some notes, and let's create a sacred space so that we can honor your journey. Because you know what? The woman who started this year is not the same woman who's listening right now. And that evolution deserves to be celebrated. And I gotta tell you, I know this because I know that I am not the same woman that I was three months ago. I've done something this year that has been like something that I should have been doing a long time ago. And, you know, well, better late than never, I always say, because I've been much more organized in my business this year. And I mean, for one thing, I've been. Now, some people do this digitally, but I'm old school, I like to write stuff down. So I, I followed a guy a couple years ago, actually. In fact, these books are about two years, two years old. And I let them sit on my bookshelf. And finally this year I was ready to actually do this. And it has a. A place to set weekly goals and daily goals and quarterly goals. And so I'm going to be going over this very soon and, and looking at how I did. And I, I kind of have an idea because it involves doing like weekly checkups. So what I want to talk about first though, is that, okay, as business owners, okay, we have to be real. I mean, I know that it is important and they. Anybody who's any good at being like a business coach will drum it into you. You gotta know your numbers, know your numbers, and they're right. I've learned that lesson too. I know. And then, you know, you've got to be able to look at what's been going on. But I want you to treat this as not necessarily a critical review. I would invite you to think of this more as a sacred reflection because of course, we are heart centered entrepreneurs. And I'm guessing that if you are, have been listening to this podcast for any amount of time, you are likely a spiritual entrepreneur as well. So be kind to yourself. Approach this process of re, you know, reviewing the last three months. Approach it with an open heart because there may be some areas that you didn't meet your goals. So don't beat yourself up over it. Think about, especially if there, I mean, if there were places that you did, yay, celebrate, do a happy dance, whatever you want to do. And if there were places that didn't quite work out, do some. So I was going to say critical evaluation, but I'm not thinking of critical as in criticizing. I'm thinking more as evaluating it with an unbiased eye. Yeah, that's a good way to say it. Was there anything out of control, out of your control that contributed to you're not hitting that goal? Maybe you maybe had a client cancel, maybe they had to even cancel their coaching sessions with you because something happened in their family that they weren't able to do it anymore. So you, you can't, you know, it's, it's disappointing, of course, if you lost out on that, that income that you were counting on. But whatever happened in their life likely is a lot worse and that's why they had to cancel. So, so think about that and also reflect on how were you functioning not only in the business, but how was your personal health, let's say, how was your mental health, your spiritual health? How were you during these past three months? Were you stressed? Were you ill at any part of those times? All of these things can contribute to how you perform in your business. Even though we want to be able to do our best at all times, we also are human and stuff happens sometimes. So you want to look at, when you're going over things you want to look at, okay, what were your business achievements? You know, what are the tangible outcomes? You know, what's your, what were your revenue? Did you meet your revenue goals and things like that? Also look at personal, personal growth. Did you have any internal shifts? Perhaps? Like I say, I think one of mine has been this, for me is doing this daily habit of recording what went on in my business that day. Because I, I will, I will set up like four must dos that I, that I want to get done and then I also have some habits that I want to do. And so I've been tracking and keeping track, like the number of days and that I do those. Like. Like last night I didn't fill out my planner at the end of the night because I went to an event and I totally slipped my mind when I came home. So it's like, oh, okay, I guess we're starting day one now, tomorrow, because I intend to fill it out tonight. So, you know, it's like, oh, well, you know, life happens sometimes. So. But the fact that I have been doing that, I think has made me more cognizant of what am I doing in my business. And so that really has been a good internal shift for me. Spiritual connection. Are you aligned with your purpose? Are you, Are you. Is your business really reflecting your heart? And if not, I'm gonna. I'm gonna put in a quick plug right now for something. Is that on April 5, 2025, I am CO hosting with Jennifer Regular. We are co facilitating, not really co hosting. We are co facilitating a retreat called Live youe Light. Illuminate your path. And this is a really good opportunity for you to take a look at where you are in your business and see where you need support on being more aligned with your purpose. So if you go to bit, ly, capital L, capital Y, capital L and then lowercase retreat, you'll be able to get all the information about the retreat and see if that's something that speaks to you. And I'll also have that in the show notes as well because you might. You might want to check it out. All right. Oh, and here's a good question to ask yourself too. What internal shift or growth are you most proud of? Even if no one else sees it? I think that's good to know too. I think that's. That's an important thing. Now let's talk about. You know, I mentioned earlier about the critical. About critical review and that. That I do mean more of the criticizing type of review. And, and sometimes one when we are. Especially if you are. Grew up in a dysfunctional family, you know, maybe there was alcoholism or abuse of some type. And now for me it was alcoholism. My dad was an alcoholic. So we, it's. It wasn't really. We were. I was just expected to succeed. I wasn't like, you know, patted on the back for it. And so sometimes we find it challenging, I'm gonna say, to. To pat ourselves on the back to really acknowledge our success. And we kind of downplay it. And this is what I teach When I teach the. The Love method. Part of the Love method. The V....

Ever feel like fear and doubt are blocking your path to success? Well, stay tuned because I am going to be serving up a transformative conversation today about breaking through that resistance and taking inspired action to manifest both the business and the life you're dreaming of. But first, if this is your first time visiting us, I am Gloria Grace Rand and I am founder of Align to Shine Academy and I empower women over 50 to step into their highest potential with clarity and confidence. And I am so excited to get into our conversation today. I've got the most amazing woman here that I'm going to bring on in just a second. Her name is Jennifer Regular and there's nothing regular about her. She is internationally recognized for uniting light leaders and visionary entrepreneurs. And she's the founder of the Leadership Ascension Alliance. And Jennifer specializes in facilitating powerful connections, empowering individuals to reclaim their inner power, align with their soul mission and activate their passion so they can create meaningful impact. And I gotta tell you, we, we are aligned on the, in that mission and you're going to learn why, more, in a little while. But first I want to bring her on to the stage and welcome you officially, Jennifer to Live Love Engage.
Oh, thank you so much, Grace. It is so wonderful to be here and just be with your audience and in our conversation and see what comes through today. Very tall order you put out there.
Well, you know, we don't slack around here at Live Love Engage. You know, we're, we're, we're all about helping, helping folks to live fully, love deeply and engage authentically, which is what I always say at the end of the show, but we're just slipping it in there already. So as I mentioned, this is all of this what we're talking about today. You know, getting rid of fear and doubt, taking inspired action. It's, this is stuff I really, it's my, it's my jam and I know it's yours too. And I thought before we kind of get into a little bit more of your story, I was wondering if you could explain for our lovely audience out there, what's the difference between inspired action and just normal everyday regular action? Haha. No pun intended. Which I just realized.
Inspired action and everyday action. Okay, yeah, that's a good question. A really good question. There's so many different ways that we can talk about action and how we act and what we get on with in our day. Just a little play on words there. Inspired action though is really not doing any real movement, making any big decisions unless it comes through your inspiration Your creativity, your guidance system, your inner truth of what you're meant to be doing out in this world and how to show up for that. When we take like our everyday, normal action, it's very habitual, right? We just go through things without even really thinking about it that much. We're on autopilot. We're doing it often through fear or obligation or guilt or just to meet a certain expectations or to be able to check it off our to do list. It's more goal oriented. It's more in our mind, you know, what we think we should do or shouldn't do and how we're going to, you know, meet all of those little boxes that are on our to do list. Inspired action is really moving us forward into our bigger vision, the bigger picture of who we are and why we're here and being able to step into that sacred responsibility, to be able to transform from the inside out and then taking the actions that inspires us in that direction. Does that make a little more sense?
It does. And I think I would just add as well because you mentioned, you know, the regular answer is kind of more of our mind. So I think inspired action is more what are you feeling in your heart? So I think it's like what is your, what is your heart calling you to do? And when you can start following that, it's much, you know, the normal action, you know, we have to do. There's lots of stuff we need to do. But I think, but I think when you're following your heart and doing that more aligned, aligned action, that's about or inspired action, I should say, well, it is more aligned.
Then maybe that's what ends up happening. And you're right, it's really about freeing your spirit to direct the life that you're meant to live. So it doesn't come so much from the head. The head operates and creates the actions that are needed for what spirit wants for our life. Right where we feel most alive, where we have the most impact. And so it's creating the space for that by just centering in, anchoring into our light and moving in the direction that best supports the bigger vision that we have.
Yeah, absolutely. So was there a time in your journey perhaps where you maybe fear was maybe almost holding you back, but taking inspired action kind of maybe changed everything for you? And, and if so, how did that work out?
Absolutely. Absolutely. A really big fear actually, because I feared for my life. There was a moment when I felt the call to really step into my calling and to be able to put Myself out there online to become an entrepreneur, moving out of, you know, the more corporate career kind of life, working with what I went to school for, basically for over 20 years, and then deciding that that wasn't working for me anymore at the same time that I was leaving a marriage that became very destructive and abusive, and. And my. My husband at the time didn't want to see me grow and be out in the world in a big way. And he threatened that, you know, that wouldn't happen, that he would take my life if I had left him. And I did choose to leave the marriage and recognizing that he no longer had the capacity to love me in the way that he had first intended. And, you know, that was a whole story of its own. But the turning point was my call to be the person that I came here to be, to be, not the person that, you know, he tried to degrade me into being and moving beyond what other people thought about all of that, about being in that relationship, about leaving that relationship, about putting myself out there and, you know, what might seem like abandoning my career and my vocation, you know, what I went to school for and all of that, and really following that call, trusting that my purpose, my drive was stronger and more powerful than anything threatening it beyond the fear, and transforming that fear, really into freedom, you know, by making that decision, by stepping boldly forward and trusting that I was going to be okay,...

Namaste. Ever wonder if those nagging health issues that doctors call chronic could actually be solved by getting to the root cause? Well, today we're going to be diving deep into the fascinating world of true holistic detox. Not just another juice cleanse, but a complete reset for your mind, body and spiritual well being. It can really transform both your health and your business. But first, of course, if this is your first time joining us today, I would love to welcome you to Live Love Engage and introduce myself. I am Gloria Grace, founder of Align to Shine Academy, and I empower women over 50 to love themselves and the life they're living. And I'm really looking forward to this conversation that we're about to have with Christian Elliott. He's a certified nutrition coach, personal trainer, life and relationship coach, and co owner of Healing United, a private membership association that collaborates with doctors and coaches to demonstrate a new model for health care, because Lord knows we need one, at least in the United States anyway. And his primary focus is creating personalized holistic detox programs to help people overcome diseases that are often considered incurable by conventional wet medicine. And I'm, I'm just really interested in what he has to say today. So without further ado, I'm going to bring him right up to the stage and welcome you, Christian, to Live Love Engage.
Well, thank you very much, Grace. It's good to be with you. It's an honor to be here.
Well, I appreciate. And I'm, I'm really curious about, you know, I hear a lot of people talking about detoxing and all of this, and there seems to be all sorts of different ways to do it. And I will probably. We'll get to that. But first, I'm just kind of curious to know what actually, what made you question sort of the conventional approach to detoxification?
We really started with questioning conventional, the word itself and how that word came to be applied to particular things. And so, so my start was really in getting my own health back. And the epiphany I had was that what helped me heal wasn't anything in what was called conventional. It was the unconventional. It was a chiropractor, of all people, who really put my health back together when a lot of medical doctors could not. And it just helped me say what other unconventional things might actually make a big difference for my health or for the health of other people. And it just kind of took a naturally curious mind I have and said, what other ways do we use that word? And, and maybe we've been either hoodwinked or we've just made some wrong turns and people tell us things are conventional when they're really not. And so that kind of questioning the medical system, questioning the food production system, questioning what we're told and, and the mindset or logic of medicine really helped me step back and say well shoot, what other ways can I heal? And that became a, about a two year journey that really, it culminated with me feeling way better and going from, I guess you could say a hobbyist when it came to health to somebody serious about it enough that other people started asking me for what I was doing and how to help them. And so it kind of started in that realm and turned into at first a nutrition coaching and then it became personal training and then it became holistic wellness because I was so just enamored with capturing as many holistic disciplines as I could. So and in doing that we had brick and mortar locations and we just eventually transitioned after nine years of doing that into individual coaching where we are today.
Wow. May I ask what, what were some of the symptoms or things that you, that were going on with you that you know, conventional, conventional medicine wasn't really helping you with?
Yeah. So my biggest complaint was actually structural, it was a biomechanical problem. So I had had a pressure washing business. So a lot of heavy hoses on wet ladders and lifting improperly. It was not knowing what in the world I was doing at a gym and just trying to get buff to get the ladies. And of course that you know, you, you do things in that environment where you kind of overdo it, hurt yourself. So between those, those two things and then waiting tables for six years and always carrying plates on the same side, I had really created a significant degenerative problem in one of my shoulders and such that I felt like I had of a butter knife stabbed under my shoulder blade or like moments where I thought I was going to holding place, like I don't know if I can make it. It hurt to snuggle. There was just plenty of things that I like. Where in the world is this going? And the medical world just had nothing other than take this anti inflammatory. That one gives you a cough, try a different one and, and maybe surgery but you're too young for cortisone. And it's just this loop of the same non answers. And I was sick frequently. So about four times a year I would get a cold that knocked me on my back for a couple of weeks and like I can't get sick this frequently and function or, or make progress in life. So it was really those two things that led me to a chiropractor. And he got my structure fixed, but he also helped taught me about nutrition. Wow. Food can be very healing if you know how to use it. And so those were the main complaints I had. And as I sorted that out, wow. So much easier.
Oh, I know, yeah, I'm, I'm, I'm with you 100%. And I do believe, I do believe in chiropractors. I've, I've gone to them because when I, when I was a kid in high school, I injured my back. I lived in Michigan, and so we didn't have central ac, we had the window air conditioners, and I was helping my mom take this big heavy thing out of the window for the winter time. And it was. Yeah, so it's not good, but. Yeah, and, and I've really become a convert to eating healthy and just knowing that, yeah, the food industry is really out to get us. But I'm getting ahead of myself. I want to, I want to stick with, I want to stick with talking about detoxing a little bit more first and, and, and then we'll probably get to some of that as well. I, and I'm not sure if I had alluded to this in, in the intro, but I know that there's a lot of, like, common myths about detoxing. What, what are some of the ones that you see that are actually really doing a lot of harm to people?
Well, there's, there's a mindset we want to sometimes step back and say, what are we actually trying to detox from? And sometimes we either get that wrong and we're trying to just deal with the symptoms of toxicity and we're trying to tidy things rather than do some of the deeper cleaning. And what often gets overlooked, probably the biggest, most overlooked area where detoxification is really needed is in the realm of microbes, or more specifically parasites. Most of the Western world dismisses that element of toxins. And so if you have a, let's say a self replicating,...

Namaste. You ever wondered how you could possibly build a wildly successful business while also making the world a better place? Well, today we're going to be exploring how to create a purpose driven venture that not only generates abundance for you, but also creates positive change for humanity and our planet. And but first, of course, I want to welcome you to Live Love Engage, especially if this is your first time tuning in. I am Gloria Grace, founder of Align to Shine Academy, and I empower women over 50 to love themselves and the life they're living. And our guest Today is Melissa LaPlante. She's a global keynote speaker, author and business coach. And by merging science and spirituality, two of my favorite topics, she helps individuals unlock their personal abundance, achieve financial success within the current paradigm, and build impactful ventures that give back to humanity and the world. Hopefully I'll be able to speak today. But anyway, without further ado, I am going to bring Melissa up to the stage and welcome you officially to Live Love Engage.
Hi. Thank you so much for having me. I'm excited to be here and I'm just going to give you a super fair warning. I'm at in my home office and my dogs are in a conversation apparently, so apologies if you hear that in the background. But yes, I'm excited to be here. Thank you for having me.
Well, I, I'm glad that you're here and I'm glad the dogs are here too. You know, they'll probably add to the, they'll add to the atmosphere. It's always good. And I'm a dog lover and a cat lover, but I did close my door.
I have both. Yeah, I love me some animals.
Absolutely. So I thought we'd start off because I do want to dive into this, this topic because I think it's so important. But what, what exactly does a purpose driven business mean to you and how did you kind of discover your own alignment between, you know, making money, which is great, but also having an impact.
You know, purpose driven. To me, and that's, I love that you started with that question because it's a, I think it's a misunderstood term in some degrees. I think that, you know, when you think of purpose driven, you think of, oh, my company has to be doing something for consumers that have a need. It has to be, you know, servicing a need. And that's not necessarily the case. Purpose driven is more about being intention led, knowing that, you know, you are showing up sustainably, socially conscious, you know, that you have. And sustainability is not just environmental sustainability. It's are the hours you're working your employees sustainable is the wage you're giving them sustainable, is the way they're being treated sustainable. And so, you know, purpose driven really means just understanding your effectiveness effect in the world and on your consumers and, and you know, and showing up in a positive and giving way versus what can we take? Right. And you know, I, I've always been, I'm a serial entrepreneur. I started my first business when I was 13 walking dogs ironically. And so, you know, it's just always been important to me to flourish in business. But as a person, my moral compass also leads me to be intention led and purpose driven. And I just became really good at that paradigm.
Well, I love that and I'm glad that you also clarified the difference between yes, maybe a purpose of being to earn a profit or to serve your customers, but really to have a much more deeper impact and not only, as you say, not only on the environment, but also your employees too. What? I've got, like, lots of questions, but one of the first things that popped into my head actually while we were talking about that is what are some of the benefits actually of having your business be that way, you know, have that specific.
I love that you asked that question. You asked the best questions, Gloria. I love it. So, so there are so many benefits aside from, you know, all of the positives of the things I just listed. Harvard Business just did a study that businesses that are showing up sustainably are 400% more profitable than their unsustainable counterparts. And I don't know any CEO out there, myself included, who wouldn't love a 400% raise. So, you know, and so there's, you know, also when, you know, I'm known as the boxless business coaching consultant because so many years, you know, I've been coaching for almost 15 years in leadership and development in one way or another. And people always tell me, oh my God, you think so far out of the box. And I'm like, I don't have a box. There's no box. And so, you know, that's why I developed boxless business, because it shows up, you know, looking at the different aspects of the business in a way that is cohesive. Right. And I'll explain that a little bit more when we get into more of that. But, you know, I think the benefits are having dedicated subject matter experts that care, that want to show up because they're, they're being valued properly. Right. You know, you have increased profitability. I teach one to one problem solving. So, you know, I'm an autistic and ADHD individual. I, in a corporation, do not expect a corporation to educate every employee in the whole building on autism and make everything as autism friendly as possible. I would prefer that they just came to me and said, melissa, what is your actual struggle in this environment and what can we do to meet that need, period? They don't need to be dumping millions of dollars into one size fits all initiatives to directly meet the needs of their actual employees. So, you know, there's a lot of benefit to showing up this way.
I love that. And yeah, and that was one thing I was going to possibly touch on because I know that you mentioned that you do, I guess, work with, as part of your business is you do like working with people who are, you know, similar to you. And I think we all like to do that. I think especially as coaches, we like to find that audience that we can relate to in particular.
Right. Well, you know, like I said, I've been coaching for almost 15 years, but I went into business for myself a year ago, little over a year ago. And at the time, yes, I was working with neurodivergent entrepreneurs. Because nobody knows a neurodivergent entrepreneur like a neurodivergent entrepreneur. Right, Exactly. I realized that what I was doing was trying to help people who don't fit in the box, which, by the way, no one fits in, but people who don't fit in the box navigate fulfilling their dreams. When then I realized I'm kind of mowing the yard one blade of grass at a time. So what I've decided to do, because I have so much experience in corporate leadership, you know, half my career I was in IT leadership and development for a global outsourcing company. So I definitely know what I'm doing in that wheelhouse. And I realized that I need to be, instead of helping people fit in the box, I need to jump into these corporations and get rid of the box.
I love that. Yeah, yeah. Because it definitely is so limiting and constricting when you feel like you have to be. You've got to operate in a certain way and yet create, you know, processes, I think that. That are going to fit everybody. But we are all unique individuals.
    Exactly.
So what's going to work for somebody is not going to work for somebody else....

Namaste. How often do you rely on your intuition when you are making decisions in your business versus just kind of powering through and just getting stuff done, you know, and just following through on you got a plan, you're going to do the plan and just ignoring those got feelings perhaps or other things that come up, other, you know, divine downloads and things like that. Well, we're going to be diving into this today and it's, it's a topic that I love because following intuition is something that it didn't used to do very well. But I do pay attention to it now and I'll explain why that's important as we go on. But first, I do want to welcome those of you who may be new to the podcast podcast. If this is your first time joining us, I want to welcome you and introduce myself. I am Gloria Grace, founder of Align to Shine Academy, and I work with spiritually minded women, helping them to really be able to step into their potential and you know, not let self doubt stop you. So let's, let's dive into intuition and talk a little bit about just what it is and why it's important. And, and I, I will just, just let you know that I, I followed my intuition today in that I was all, all dressed up here to do an interview for somebody else's podcast and they had to cancel. And I thought, well, gosh, I've, you know, hey, I, I look good, I got the makeup on, I might as well just go ahead and record my, my podcast today. Even though I was thinking I probably wouldn't do it, but what the heck. And, and I think that's, that's kind of the thing that I think is important is that when you get these ideas that it's important to follow through on them. Because I don't know about you, but I know for me when I do have, you know, sometimes you, you get that feeling in your gut or maybe you, maybe you're, and maybe it's your brain that's, you know, you hear this little voice in your head saying, you know, why don't you do it this way, why don't you, why don't you try it that way? And when I've ignored those, it's usually cost me something.
And I remember, I remember one, one example and this is going back a long time ago. I think I was driving and I, well actually, oh wow. I just remembered one, one very costly time when I was a new driver actually and made, made a turn too late and wound up hitting another car. And my mom was in the car with me at the same time. And so she was not too happy because she hit her head on the windshield. And, and I think it's, you know, because I wasn't trusting myself enough then. I was, you know, I think she was saying, well, you know, turn or don't turn or whatever. And I didn't, I didn't trust myself. And that's what it comes down to really is, is. Is intuition is about starting to lean into your own innate inner wisdom. And you know, with, with age comes wisdom, they say. And, and I think it's, it's. It also lends itself as we get older that we do start maybe having these incidents where we don't follow our intuition and then we wish we had. And so then when we do get these little inklings, we start following them and it really makes a difference. And there are. I'm going to give you, I'll give you some more examples about how this is. At least it's benefited my business, in fact. But I want to share with you a couple different ways that it's. That intuition may apply to you and how. Because we are all wired differently and there are different ways that you might pick up on information. And so for instance, there's maybe like a clear knowing where you get a sudden insight or a download about a business direction. You know, a lot of times being in the shower, you might get ideas in the shower that'll just kind of pop into your head. And for me, I mean, one of, one of those was. Although, yeah, one of those was where I just had this idea popped into my head that said I should write a book about love. And that wound up being my book, Live Love Engage. So it was, you know, this idea that just came. Came to me all of a sudden and I was like, where did that come from? It was like I was. Because my business was really online marketing at the time as opposed to coaching that I do now. And I thought that was just kind of interesting that it sort of happened to show up like that. And I mentioned earlier, you know, that gut feeling, you know, so you might, you might have actual bodily sensations where you, you know, maybe get butterflies in your stomach or maybe your. To really kind of go, oh, you know, get really excited. And, and you know, I have, I've. I think, I don't know if this is exactly the, the right example for that, but I think when I was. I was attending a. A conference and they were promoting a mastermind to join, and I started getting really, like, excited like this was something that I really needed to do. And so, yeah, so I guess, I guess I do have bodily sensations too. So that's another one sort of, you know, this clear feeling and another one is clear seeing. I mean, some people really can actually see symbols or patterns that may offer guidance. Sometimes, you know, you might be, maybe you, maybe you see some sort of like a sign, you know, maybe a billboard outside, you know, a couple times. And, and it's, and it has like the same message keep, kind of keeps, you keep being aware of it, you know, And I know it has to do with our, what is it? The reticular activating system of our brain, but still, if you're seeing that, my belief is that it's the universe trying to tell you something and you should pay attention. And then finally clear hearing where you really do hear a voice inside your head, perhaps, or, or maybe, maybe you hear, maybe you hear like the same song come over, you know, the radio. I know we don't do radio too much anymore because we're listening to, you know, streaming services, Pandora and whatnot, but perhaps, you know, or maybe you just hear somebody say something that catches your attention and then you hear somebody else say something again, pretty much very similar along the same lines.
And you're like, what is that all about? It's your intuition and it's a message coming to you from, like I say, from your higher self, from universe, God, whatever you believe. But I would encourage you to pay attention to that. And I know sometimes it's not always easy to, to pay attention to that because sometimes we're just, you know, we've been, we've been taught at Ross and I think, and I'm going to say this especially for in the business world, I think a lot of times we, you know, men. No, I'm not going to say, I'm not going to generalize men. I would say the masculine way of thinking and the masculine way of acting is much more direct and, you know, do it and, and get to it and follow the plan without leaving enough room for what the heart wants you to do. So it's really very mental, logical. What is it? Right brain thinking. I think. Yeah, I think. I'm not sure I was. I get these confused which way it is. So, And I know a lot of times even, even as women, you know, we're women business owners, but we still sometimes may fall into that trap of just really wanting to just follow, you know, the logical way of doing things and, and maybe ignoring some of that innate wisdom that we have. Again, I'm not going to say all women do that. I'm not going to say all men follow that way because there are definitely some men who follow their intuition as well, and, and yay for them. So what I would advise is to start. Just start paying more attention to it and, and just start sometimes being, you know,...

And I'm really looking forward to this conversation today. Our guest is Georges Cordoba and He is a 12 year cancer survivor and best selling author of Beating the Odds about his holistic journey to conquer advanced cancer. And he's also a holistic health and life coach, functional nutritionist, Reiki teacher, hypnotherapist, among other things. And his mission is to help people live their best lives. And I know that's what we're all about here on this program is to, you know, live fully. And so let's, without further ado, let me bring him on so we can start, start this conversation. So welcome Coach Georges to Live Love Engage.
Thank you. Thank you, Gloria, for inviting me. I'm honored to be in your show and, and share some interesting stuff that applies to everyone, whether you're rich or poor and whatever your ethnicity, this, this disease, cancer doesn't care. But I'm very excited to share with you.
Well, I am too. And you know, I thought we'd start out for talking about one of the things you, you say is that, you know, everyone has mountains to move on during their life journey. And yours certainly your deepest mountain was overcoming cancer by, you know, transitioning from conventional treatment. You did go down that route to a more holistic approach. So I thought we'd stop by checking out what led you to make this significant shift and what were the initial steps you took.
Yeah, you know, I like to real, real quick you have a better understanding of the answer to your question. I have to share with you guys because your mindset is very important. But I, I have to share with you guys about my journey since I was a youngster, 4 years old. I'm half Greek and my parents from my Greek family migrated after World War II to South America, Venezuela, which is where I'm from. And my, my father's family migrated to Venezuela, from Madrid, Spain to Venezuela and the two, the two families met there. But what I want to share is on my Greek side of the family, when I looked at the, basically the landscape of my family, I really felt that I was going to be doomed because at the age of four, I saw my grandfather lose his life of cancer. Cancer. Then maybe six or seven, two. Between the age of six and 10, two of my grandmother's sisters passed of cancer. Then my godfather, which was also a family from Greece that migrated to Venezuela, my, my mother's cousin, he was my godfather, he passed away from cancer. So far you look, you, you see the pattern later on, another family member, another brother of my grandfather, then my uncle, My mother's brother, a 55, died of cancer. And three weeks before I was diagnosed, my mother, my dear mother, pass of cancer. So I grew up basically with the belief that cancer would take anybody's life. And then here I am, I get diagnosed. At the time, our blessing, our five kids were very young, from 7 to 13. Pair of twins that were 10 years old at the time as well. And that created a lot more anxiety on me. But at the end of the day, after the emotional roller coaster that anybody that has been diagnosed with cancer, we all go through the same thing with humans. The fear, you know, denial, angry. Why me? I'm a good person, you know, I, I, I do great. And in the city, we go to church, we do stuff in missionary work. Why me? But I, when, when all that stuff went away, took about a week, I, I kind of sat down and I said, you know what? I'm going to be the first, the first family member from a Greek side that survives this thing. And I went on my journey. And to get back to your question, I was the first thing, and this is important to know, as a hypnotherapist, I could tell you there's 13 rules of the mind. But one of the rules of the mind is that the mind goes to what is familiar. And in the west, what is familiar when you get a chronic disease. But I say cancer, which is my experience, everybody goes to an oncologist. There's no question. Everybody just finds an oncology or look for, looks for referrals and stuff. And then that's the first thing we do. We go to an oncologist, which by the way, in many cases becomes your, let's say, your guy, quote, unquote. Whatever they say you do, you give all your power. We give all our power to this person, this man or woman.
    Yeah.
And that's what I did. I mean, I Have two doctors in my family. One is a medical doctor, they're married. One is my. My daughter's. They're both my. My daughter's godparents. And, And. And Stefano, he's. He's a surgeon, and. And down there in. In south and southeast Florida, in Miami. And so, you know, when. When I started this thing, it was right away surgery. I had my first craniotomy because it showed up in my. The top of my scalp. And they had to really get in there and take it out. And then right away I went to the first treatment, let's say period, four months, and. Which was really crazy. I just. I couldn't really take it. They were trying interferon, which is something that really worked for. They had it for people with hepatitis, but it. It so happened. You know, medicine is trial and error. They found out that this person also had melanoma, which is what I had. And he worked. So. So I started four months into this, after one surgery, this. This treatment, the. Oh, and by the way, on my first craniotomy, actually, right away, Right away, something presented on my. On my right ear. And so they biopsy, and it was a. A positive lymph node. So they decided to. To do a. Something they call the. It's. It's a sentinel. Sentinel biopsy to see where this liquid would drain. And it was actually draining to my right. So they decided to open me up. That was my second surgery, by the way. I went through 10 years of surgeries and 10 surgeries. Thank God for the surgeries because it's not that I'm against medical, especially the neurosurgeon. He had to raped me four times, five times. The first one was not as bad, but so my second surgery, they removed 23 lymph nodes from my. From my neck, from my. From this side of my. My. From the right side, the right neck. But there were three of those, 23 that they could not get to. So what. What happened there is that they had to sacrifice a muscle in my. In my neck to take those three out. And they turned out to be the three that were positive. Of course, that was good that they were aggressive today. This is really uncomfortable sometimes when I shave and all this stuff, you know, years later. So, you know, so that. That's. That was the pattern. Your question? It was okay. Surgery, treatment, remission, quote, unquote. I don't like that word. Yeah, Recurrence, surgery, treatment, remission for almost eight years, Gloria, on year eight, that was. I was going to go into my....

you plant seeds. That's what happens is you. You plant seeds with some of these relationships and they. They might take some time to develop, but if you don't plant the seed in the first place, then nothing's going to happen
Namaste. If you've ever felt like carrying your business dreams alone, this episode is your permission slip to pause, breathe and discover the untapped power of sacred collaboration. I'm going to show you how women, especially women over 50, are creating something revolutionary. Business relationships that nourish both the bottom line and the soul. But first, I want to welcome you to Live Love Engage. Especially if this is your first time tuning in. I am Gloria Grace Rand, founder of Align to Shine Academy, and I work with spiritually minded women entrepreneurs to break free from self doubt and step into their highest potential. Now, I love collaborating with women entrepreneurs, especially those like me who are over 50. Okay, a little bit more than that, but, you know, anyway, you know, let's face it, we've been around the block a while and, and we've got some wisdom to share. And recently during, during the monthly meeting of my soulful women's network, actually, I, I realized in talking with the other members that I needed to niche down the group. I really did need to focus on serving the needs of women over 50. And that decision reenergized me. I, you know, really did. We've got a, we've got a free Facebook group and in fact, you can join it if you go to bit.ly/soulnetwork, all lowercase letters. And I created a new cover image. I updated the description of the group and, and we're attracting new members now. And I think that my being able to re energize based on the collaboration with the existing members of the group really made a difference. And that's what I want to talk about today because I really do truly believe in the power of collaboration, whether it's through networking groups or through a mastermind group, but also connecting, connecting with women. I mean, I love men, don't get me wrong, I do. And I've had some great collaborations with men. Some of my best clients in the past have been men. And I know that especially. And maybe it is, I don't know, maybe it is as we get older, I'm not sure, but there's just something about the power of having, you know, being able to connect with other women our age, you know, other women your age, you know, whatever age might be, you know, especially if you are younger. I think, I think no matter what age you are, you. You like to be around people who get you, who know the things that are driving you, who know your challenges, who know, you know, what's going on, because then they can celebrate your successes and they can offer advice on how to overcome something. And it's so great to be able to do that. And, you know, it's something that I found is that you don't always get with traditional networking groups, especially ones that are really focused on getting leads. You know, there's, there's some groups out there that it's like, that's, that's, you've got to be able to come to this group and you've got to be able to, you know, share leads with everybody. And, and it's kind of this more, you know, kind of a give and take as opposed to. Well, I guess collaborate. No, I, no, that's not the word I wanted to say. More competitive energy where, you know, they're, they're just, you're out there to just promote. This is my business, this is what I do, and this is who I need because. So who can you get for me? As opposed to fostering a more collaborative type of environment where it's about building relationships first. Because
I've got to be able to get to know you. I've got to be able to get to know what you do in your business, how you serve people, before I can refer someone to you. I mean, let's face it, right? I mean, because anytime we do business with anybody, you know, no matter if it's a big company or small company, if we have a good experience with them, we are more likely to tell our friends and say, hey, you should, you know, buy from this company or you should hire this coach. Because we've gotten to know them, we've gotten to know who they are as a person, we've gotten to know the quality of their products or services. And so we're much more inclined to then refer them. So that comes from, especially with service industry or service providers, it comes from having a good relationship with someone. And so, you know, once you, if you are in some sort of networking group, I think it's so much more important to build the relationship. So, sure, you can introduce yourself and say, this is what I do, and the other person is going to tell you what they do. But then it's. There was a word I was trying to find, but it's escaping me at the moment. But that's okay. It behooves you. Yeah, that's the word I was looking for. It behooves you to follow up, you know, especially, you know, I've been oftentimes in networking groups where you go into little breakout rooms on Zoom, you know, with maybe six other people or so, six or eight people. Sometimes, sometimes as many as 10, but let's say six, four to six people. And so you get to know a little bit about what each person does. And I think also depending on how they're interacting in the group, you know, what their energy level is, then you can kind of pick up on, hmm, you know, I think I want to know this person a little bit more. I want to learn more about them. And so you get their contact information and then you follow up afterwards, reach out and connect. And in fact, I had this happen last week actually. I was in a networking group and one of the other women actually did, she followed up with me. She sent me a connection request on LinkedIn and so I connected with her and we've exchanged some messages so far. You know, just kind of wondering, what did you think about the event kind of thing. So that's, that's the step that you have to take is, is to start doing that. And I know sometimes it can be challenging to, to find partners or people that you want to collaborate with. You know, sometimes, especially if you're operating from say, a scarcity mindset where you are afraid that maybe your ideas are going to be stolen or that these, this competitor is going to take clients away from you, it can also, you might be reluctant to collaborate because you've got this need to. I got to do everything myself. And I know I've talked about this, I think on the podcast in the past that that doesn't serve you as a business owner. If you want to grow your business, you've got to be able to get over that. And that's one of the things I, I help clients with when I teach the Love Method, which is about, you know, letting go of that limiting belief and letting go of this need to control everything and then opening your heart to receive help from other people, to be able to open yourself up and, and then you can start to identify, you know, these people that you want to collaborate with. And in fact, I'm, I'm actually collaborating with someone right now.
We're, we're planning, you'll hear more about this in a few weeks, but we're actually putting together a, a virtual retreat, a like a three hour sort of mini retreat. And, and she reached out to me because, number one, I, I had her on my podcast and then she had me on her podcast. And so, you know, we'd been in each other's orbits for a while and she was looking for people that she thought were, would be aligned with her. And so we got on a zoom call and we had a talk about what she wanted, and I got really excited. I'm like, oh, this sounds great. I'm. I'm in. And so, you know, now we're working together. And that's the wonderful thing that can come about when you do take this time to, you know, create relationships. I mean, that's. That's what it's really about, is creating these relationships with. With people so that, you know,...

Thank you. I'm so excited to be here.
Well, I'm excited to have you on as well because you are going to be talking about a topic that in all of my five years now, so far, we're in our sixth season already of doing the show. I don't think I've had anybody specifically focus in on breath work. I think they've mentioned it maybe in, you know, combination with other things. But, but I know I've, I've dabbled in that a little bit and I know how powerful it can be. But I, I'd love for you to first off, maybe tell our audience how is breath work per se, like, different from just, you know, our normal everyday breathing that we get to do because we're alive?
    Well, I, I guess it's intentional breathing.
    Okay.
We can really sit and focus on our breath, which is very hard. Yet we do it every day. Right. We do it all day every day.
    Right.
So there's, there's, it is really funny because when we think about the stuff that we're going through every day, we recognize and we realize that we're shallow breathers. Do you ever catch yourself, Gloria?
Hell yeah. Yeah. Yeah, sometimes. Yeah. And I do when I'm meditating, I do try to consciously focus in on having that be Be deeper. But yeah, I think probably more often than not, just regular every day during the day. It's not that from a diaphragm thing, right?
Yeah. Yeah. So what I typically share with people is that you're recycling old oxygen that's hanging out here. When we're shell and we're all shallow breathers and we all have bad posture and we all have a really hard time, you know, focusing and what we need to. So when we're doing this intentional breathing, there's just a lot of magic that comes with it because you hear it all the time. Why don't you just pause before you respond or why don't you take a breath before you respond? It's so easy to be said, but it really is a little muscle that you have to exercise. So creating intentional breathing is what's going to bring you so many different results that you probably didn't know you could access.
Yeah. And following up with that because, because again, I'm thinking of, of because I, I know some. Oh, I know, yes. I, I have a friend of mine who, she's like a certified breath work, I don't know, practitioner or something like that. And she does this really like. And I've, I've, I've done one of the sessions with her where it's like this really, you know, type of, you know, breathing. So is that what you focus in on or do or is tell me a little bit more about like what, what do you do? What do you, what do you teach people?
So, yes, I am a breath work facilitator. And what we do is we breathe under the belly, we breathe into the heart space and we exhale. And that is more of a meditation facilitation because what we're trying to do is we're trying to hijack the brain. Right. The brain is the most powerful motor in the body. A lot of us use our brain to make decisions. But what I challenge my people is to realize that the number one job of the brain is to keep you safe. And so when we are connected to our brain, we're constantly working on just keeping ourselves safe and we don't get a chance to explore and experience life. Right. We're in, we're wearing our safety goggles. So when we're doing this breath, we do things a little different. We do it with our mouth open. So it is the only time that I suggest anyone breathing with their mouth open disclaimer. And what we're doing is we're doing things different because the brain is so Powerful. It recognizes patterns. And so if we disrupt the pattern, then we're able to hijack that brain. So when we're doing this breath work technique. Yeah, we're going. And I am a believer that gentle can get us to the same place than going really hot and heavy with the breath. So doing it very methodically works really well for me and my clients because it's a nervous system thing. Sometimes when you're bringing too much oxygen and not exhaling enough CO2, people will get hand cramping. And I don't think anyone has to experience any pain when you're doing this.
Yeah. So what is trying to think. There's like a million questions are going through my mind right now, so I'm trying to. Maybe I should. Maybe I should stop and breathe. Right.
    Take a pause.
Yeah. So let me think. Okay. So what would be a good reason why someone wants to. I'm gonna. I'm gonna start there first. What would be a good reason why someone would want to do that type of breathing that you're talking about? That, you know, the gentle. More gentle, but. But still a deeper breathing.
So because I work with the nervous system, I really believe that going gracefully and easing into it is going to help you. There's so many people who have different types of experiences. So for me, doing this breath work is a way to reset your nervous system and get you to a place where you feel realigned with yourself. And so the reason I go gentle is because we can always work on that. If we go really hard, it's harder to go down. Right. It's like you already experienced something, and if you have a bad experience, it's only human. We won't want to do it again. And so if we work through it gently, we get to expand and we get to move at the rhythm that your body requires you to move. I believe that there's a lot of re. Traumatization that happens when people are not careful with their practice.
Yeah, I know. Because that's part of what they say. It helps you to sort of release some of these stuck emotions and stuck traumas and thing

Stop it. Stop trying to be perfect. Do the best you can. Get out there and shine your light in the world. There are people out there that need you. They need what you have to offer.
I am Gloria Grace Rand, founder of the L.O.V.E. Method and author of the number one amazon best seller Live. Love. Engage. - how to stop doubting yourself and start being yourself. In this podcast, we share practical advice from a spiritual perspective on how to live fully, love deeply, and engage authentically so you can create a life and business with more impact, influence and income. Welcome to Live. Love. Engage.
Namaste. If you are tired of spending hours tweaking your website, second guessing your program prices, or maybe obsessing over every email before hitting that send button, well, today's episode is for you because we're going to be diving into how perfectionism isn't just a personality quirk or a trait of Virgos like myself. It's actually an old achievement wound that is blocking your business flow. And if you stick around, you're going to get some practical tools to be able to heal that.
But first, I want to welcome you to Live Love Engage, especially if this is your first time. I am Gloria Grace, the founder of Align to Shine Academy, and I work with spiritually minded women entrepreneurs, helping them break free from self doubt and really step into their highest potential. And I am quite familiar with self doubt. This is, this is definitely something that I've had to overcome in my life. And one reason is because it does fuel perfectionism, which I'm already naturally inclined to be one, you know, to be a perfectionist, because I, I am a Virgo. I was born in September and I also had other circumstances that caused me to want to strive to be the best, be perfect in different areas. And part of it is because of my upbringing. I did grow up in a, you know, a household that, you know, God bless both my parents, God rest their souls. My dad was a, was an alcoholic and my mom could be verbally abusive from time to time. And so there was a lot of stress and in my house growing up and so having older, having an older brother or sister and seeing how they navigated well, or let's say, the tension and fights, frankly, that they would get into with my mom. I decided that my best course of action to survive in the Johnson household, my maiden name is Johnson, would be to be a good girl, you know, do my best not to screw up and, you know, get good grades and just be an overachiever and you know, that, that. Well, it's definitely, it helped a bit. Pretty much got through my, my childhood pretty well. And, but of course then it carries on into adulthood and then, you know, in my business and then that didn't always work out, which we're going to talk about in a little bit about how that manifests itself certainly for me and how it manifests itself for lots and lots of other amazing entrepreneurs out there.
So I want to also make you aware. Trauma is certainly one cause of what's called perfectionism is really, it's a symptom of an achievement wound really. And so there, there are other things that can cause this. I mean, one is just society's pressure to succeed. Especially, you know, I think even women in particular, we get caught up in this because frankly, it's still a man's world. And so we're, you know, trying to be able to compete in a man's world. And so sometimes we, we feel this really pressure to overachieve because of that, you know, trying to break through the glass ceiling. Certainly if you're in the corporate world, it's, it's, it's tough and, you know, women have made some strides, but it's, it's not, not coming very easily. And it's, it seems like we're just all, we're sliding backwards, frankly, the next few years. It's, it's going to be interesting to see how things play out. Economic pressures as well, because again, you know, to help you want to be able to succeed. A lot of, you know, families out there with, with kids that both parents have wound up having, needing to work in order to support their families.
Other things that can happen now, again, my mom was, I don't know if she was exactly a perfectionist parent. She was just, she was under stress, so let's say that. But I know there are these perfectionist parents, especially, I know, in some particular cultures where you, you know, they put a lot of pressure on their kids to succeed and, you know, to get all A's. I mean, an A minus isn't even acceptable. So there's a lot of that sometimes comparing, you know, comparing one child to another child or comparing it to peers. I mean, sometimes that happens in school. You know, it's like teachers might compare you to, maybe even to a, to a sibling that they had, they taught before or just to other, other people in the classroom. So that's kind of some of the causes of it. And, you know, there's, there's definitely others, but I wanted to, I think those are some of the more common ones that show up. And so let's show up. Let's get my tongue to work.
Let's talk about how that shows up in business. How does that, how does that show up? Well, as I mentioned at the beginning, it's, it's things like endless tweaking. You know, whether it's tweaking your website before you officially have it go online. I've, I've known other business owners who, who just keep, you know, working on it and working on it and working on it instead of just saying, okay, it's. It's good enough. For now, I can fix it later because that's the thing. You, you can always go back in and update things, but just get it out there. I mean, right now, here's a perfect example of me. So I'm getting ready to run my align to Shine Academy again in a few weeks and I ran it a couple of months ago and so I had a landing page all set up for that. And then after the first group of women went through it, they gave me some feedback. And so I've been going in and making changes to that landing page and I still made some changes to it today because, you know, there were things I wanted to tweak. But it's out there. You know, somebody can go out there and look at it right now. You can go to aligntoshineacademy.net and see it. Right now it's available. In fact, you know, if you would like to overcome self doubt and want to sign up an early bird special going on right now so you could do that. But the point is, is that I didn't just wait to even launch the program until it was perfect. I made it clear to the people who signed up for it that this is a work in progress. I need your feedback to help me make it better. And so I did the best I could and they gave me some great feedback and now I know that this next iteration is going to be a lot better.
Okay, so that's, that's, that's one, one way that it shows up. There's lots of other things. Difficulty celebrating wins, you know, you know, you don't give yourself enough credit for having, having something good happen in your business or you're over complicating simple systems or, or yeah, now this is one for me. Resistance to delegating. Now I know especially when you, if you are a solopreneur and when you start your business, sure you want to do everything yourself. Your business is your baby. I get it. I felt that way too. And at a certain point, if you really want to keep growing and serving more people,...
