    TRANSCRIPT
Gloria Grace Rand: Namaste and welcome to another edition of Live. Love. Engage. And I am as always so happy to have a guest with us and today’s guest I’m really looking forward to. I met her recently and was intrigued by what she does. So let me tell you what she does. Her name is Renaye Thornborrow and she is leading a worldwide movement to bring life coaching to kids. . Since 2013, her company has certified hundreds of coaches in over 30 countries, helping them create a business they love as a life coach for kids, while empowering children around the world. She is also a personal development expert, member of the ICF, International coaching Federation, I believe that’s what that stands for. And a former 3-year board member for the Association of Coach Training Organizations. Hopefully my tongue will work a little bit better today. I seem to be tripping over myself a little bit. But anyway I’m just so delighted to welcome you Renaye to Live Love Engage.
Renaye Thornborrow: Thanks for having me Gloria. It’s a thrill to be here.
Gloria Grace Rand: I always love to start off the podcast asking our guests about what brought them to the work that they’re doing today and as I mentioned a moment ago, we met on a publicity summit and I was just totally intrigued by life coaching for kids. So because we hear about, especially for entrepreneurs, I’m sure many of you listening may actually be a life coach, so it’s not as unusual as maybe it might have been thirty years ago. But doing it for kids, that struck me as a bit unusual. So what got you into deciding to offer that type of service and then train other coaches as well?
Renaye Thornborrow: Yeah, Gloria, I’m going to answer this question and be happy to share that. It’s amazing, I’ve been doing this for almost twelve years now and still have people all the time saying, “Life coaching for kids? I didn’t know there was such a thing.” And it all kind of came about by accident. But the seed was planted many years ago, decades ago actually when I graduated from college. And Gloria, I discovered the world of personal development. And I remember thinking to myself, why didn’t I learn this when I was a kid? It made no sense to me that the personal development world and the way the life coaching world focuses on grownups. And those core thoughts and beliefs that shape who we are and what we think is possible for our lives are formed when we’re really young and I knew that I wanted my kids to one day know this, these powerful mindset skills. And through the years I became an expert in personal development. I used my skills to create a very successful corporate career, happy fulfilling marriage. And when I had children, a little over twenty years ago, my kids are 20 now, I couldn’t find anything out there to help them develop these mindset skills. There was plenty on how to get my kids to behave, a few things on character development, but nothing about mindset skills. So I started working with my kids myself and they were pretty young, four years old or so, five. And sometimes it seemed a little lectury or boring so I started kind of writing stories, just informally, over the next couple of years, more stories. And from there a vision just grew, Gloria and at the time I was vice president of marketing for a company, loved my job, fabulous career, loved my team, but I just had this pull to do, to bring this work to the world. And to bring this to children. And when I first launched my company, I retired from the corporate job, I was fortunate enough to be able to take a year off and wrote a full curriculum to teach 27 mindset skills to children using a story-based coaching curriculum. But what happened was, I launched it as a home-study program for parents to use with their kids, but then I had people coming to me, like life coaches, educators, and counselors and therapists, wanting to use my work in their businesses. I thought, well that’s a great idea because I knew they could reach children I could never be able to reach. And here we are, ten years later, have a certification program, and I’m just so honored – we have hundreds of coaches in over 30 countries who are using this work with kids. So it kind of came out by accident. But I’m just so glad it is. And it’s amazing, I’m so proud of our coaches and the impact that they’re having with children. That’s the journey.
Gloria Grace Rand: There’s so many questions that are going through my head right now. I’m trying to figure out which one to go first. So let’s start off with simply the benefits because you talk about mindset work with kids. So actually before even benefits, maybe just give me an example of something that you think kids aren’t getting that life coaching in regards to mindset helps them?
Renaye Thornborrow: Yeah, well you know, when faced with challenges and disappointments, most kids don’t have the skills to handle them. So as a result of that, they get down on themselves. This crushes their self-confidence or their self-esteem. They give up on themselves. That crushes their self-confidence. And they just, it, they’re left almost paralyzed and not feeling empowered in life. And so what mindset skills is all about is supporting children in proactively developing mindset skills for self-esteem, for confidence, resilience, and boy have we had things for children, all of us have gone through in the last few years, are coming out of the pandemic. Self-leadership, learning how to set and achieve goals, and these are just. It’s the missing link in children’s education. It’s the missing link in children's mental health. It’s really supporting them in developing these skills. And just as an example, one skill that they’re missing, one of the favorite things I love to teach is about the skill of developing positive self-talk. In fact, there’s a story we give away for free on our website because we think it’s so important for everybody, children and grownups, to learn that skill of positive self-talk. So we invite people to go to our website, get that free story and start developing that skill because self-talk affects everything from our confidence, our self-esteem, our resilience and even what we believe we can achieve as well.
Gloria Grace Rand: Yeah. That’s for sure because I know I still occasionally catch myself with a little bit of negative self-talk and it’s, would have been nice to have learned that really consciously, being able to learn that at a younger age to be able to have that foundation. Which brings me to my next question. So how young do you recommend kids to be able to start doing this type of work?
Renaye Thornborrow: Well, our curriculum is really geared towards children between the ages of six through twelve. We want to get them in elementary school, middle school before they get into the really rough stuff in high school, college and on to the adult years as well. We want to support them in developing these mindset skills that they will be able to use for the rest of their lives. With our coaches, we have coaches that come from a variety of backgrounds. Some have experience working with a little bit younger kids and even teens and some of them will adapt the curriculum in order to support the expanded age groups on either end. But we’re really, we’re focused on ages six through twelve because once kids go to elementary school,...

    Gloria Grace Rand
Namaste. I am Gloria Grace Rand, and I am delighted to welcome you to another edition of our show, the Live Love Engage podcast. And I am so excited about my guests today because I've met her recently, been learning about her a little bit then, but learning more about her and just really being so very intrigued. So I want to welcome Nancy Orlen Weber, R.N. to Live, Love, Engage. And I want to tell you a little bit about her. She left nursing because of a permanent disability and began a private practice as a medical intuitive, animal communicator and psychic detective. She is featured in many documentaries worldwide with the detectives she's worked and she likes to say that everything we need is inside. We simply uncover our sacred powers. So, again, I want to welcome you. First off, Nancy, I'm going back and forth there today. I sort of welcomed you and then went right into the bio and I almost stopped the recording and then said, I'm just going to power through. But I'm so glad that you are here today, first off. So welcome.
    Nancy Orlen Weber
Thank you, Gloria. I am so delighted. I can't wait for us to converse one time. I heard you first. Lovely, thank you.
    Gloria Grace Rand
Well, thank you. And so I thought we would start off as I normally do when I have a guest on the show. I like to ask them sort of how they got what their journey is to where they are today. And I loved how you said in your bio that we simply uncover our sacred power. So I wanted to ask you, how did you uncover your sacred power?
    Nancy Orlen Weber
It's more about incremental, not knowing at first what it is, but being very curious. So I would say to people listening also that everyone who's had deja vu, everyone who's had intuitive something and, oh my God, it's real. What is it? Are you curious? So I got very curious about how I knew things that nobody else knew, or how I knew that somebody, unfortunately, would be dying or dead. And how is it possible that my beloved grandmother, my hero, came to me at one something a.m. in the morning and I woke up crying and saying, Becky is dead. My grandmother and my mother said, "Why are you screaming?" I said, "she just died." "Shut up and go back to bed." That was typical. And the phone rang and my grandmother had just died. And I thought what? How is it possible? So all those things kept happening, but naming sacred powers as sacred, not just woo-woo or voodoo or well, voodoo is actually a great healing art. I don't practice, but I know of it. And so all the other stuff, I threw it all out and went into my beloved psychiatric nursing as my very last nursing career. I sought ever since I started to work in psychiatry. But I refused to work where they gave electric shock treatments and where they gave lots of drugs. I thought, no, thank you, that's not what I want. And I had the blessing of working in the highest crime rate in the country at the time, in the South Bronx known as Fort Apache then. And we made miracles in ten days with very psychotic people. And that was because of the sacred powers. And others joined in. The psychiatrists begged me to do it. Everybody. And I started recognizing I would go through if anyone's watching who's ever worried about their mental health, I would examine. If I can talk about what I see that nobody else sees, I'm not hallucinating. Then if I can clarify it, if I can express it, if I can talk, not dysfunctionally talk, but actually functionally examine it, then what is it? And so that's how I started uncovering it. And I thank all the psychotic people I worked with who were no longer psychotic and showed me the wife, the psychiatrist, who not only opened the door but asked me to do the top research in the state because I made history and all the aides and everybody else, the orderly. We worked as a team making magic and very, very few drugs for very dysfunctional people. And that to me, is when I started uncovering the real power. But it took all that time from in utero. I remember my birth to actually understand that this was sacred. It wasn't just a power, it's not a blessing or a curse. It's everybody has it. It's just hidden until you bring it to the light. And I thought, oh, so that's what they're all talking about in Philosophies and religion and all the rest. And that was why I could walk away from everything and said, no, I'm going to do a lot of examining what this is and practicing and let's see.
    Gloria Grace Rand
Well, I just realized that it would probably be good for you to define what do you consider a sacred power and are there different kinds of them?
    Nancy Orlen Weber
I think we all have we call intuition, gut instinct. We know that part of it is the brain, the body, the mind, the gut, the right probiotics, the right bacteria in the gut, prebiotics and all that. But who are we? Who are we really? Go touch your soul. So this is my home on Earth. I still have a home when I'm not on Earth, so that's why I call it my soul. And to me that is sacred because it's beyond anything I could ever understand, but are very grateful for. I think everybody has that who's alive. I think the trees have it, right? I think the birds have it. I think my chipmunks, who I love, have it. And we know cats and dogs have it and horses and fish. I have talked with fish and played with them and they have been very good to me. So everybody has something sacred deep within and as you say, there is, like anything else, a spectrum. You're born with abilities, whatever they are. So somebody who is considered, for instance, special needs, many of them are high functioning. So much so that they're much higher than ours or considered so called normal. They're much more creative, inspired and can think out of the box without an issue. So sacred is each one, and how we use it makes it something we have gratitude for.
    Gloria Grace Rand
Love that. Now, for those of you who are listening to the podcast, you won't be able to see, but behind Nancy, she has a couple of books back there because I forgot to mention also, which you actually did not put in your bio, that you are an author. You should put that in there.
    Nancy Orlen Weber
    Okay.
    Gloria Grace Rand
    My marketing hat talking.
    Nancy Orlen Weber
I have never marketed until now. Last few months only, other than I built the website or somebody built it for me and they would tell me what I needed. So I'd write. But I've never sought work. This is all new for me. So the books, yes. The life of a psychic detective are cases only adjudicated. That means fully finished. They're in prison for life, most of them, or they're dead. Otherwise, I never speak about it because when I first started, we removed the number of my house and only the post office and police department knew where I lived because nobody wanted me threatened I would be happy. I did internal investigations in the police department. Not funny, right? So they protected me, the ones I worked with. And I've done federal work, et cetera. So I'm very careful. However,...

Jodi Wellman is a speaker, executive coach, assistant instructor in the Master of Applied Positive Psychology program at the University of Pennsylvania, and founder of 4000 Mondays, a platform to help people live life without deathbed regrets.
Jodi was inspired to learn about how to live life without deathbed regrets when she studied Temporal Scarcity at the University of Pennsylvania. Through her research, she found empirical evidence that living life with intention is useful and created a platform to talk about it. She proposed living life wider and deeper, and encouraged people to focus on having a sprinkling of experiences that make them feel alive. Gloria Grace Rand
Namaste and welcome again to another edition of Live. Love Engage. I am Gloria Grace Rand, and I am, as always, delighted to have a guest with us on the show. And I met this woman recently at a publicity event, and I knew what she had to talk about was going, going to be perfect for our audience. So first off, before I tell you more about who she is and why I thought she'd be so great, I want to welcome Jodi. Wellman to live love, engage.
    Jodi Wellman
Thank you so much. I am really excited to be here with you.
    Gloria Grace Rand
Well, I think your topic is going to be well, it's appropriate any time, but I think especially nowadays, it seems like even more so. Let me tell you who Jodi is. She is a speaker, an executive coach and assistant instructor in the Master of Applied Positive Psychology program at the University of Pennsylvania and also the founder of 4000 Mondays. And I think I can say this even though she didn't use the word in her bio, but I believe probably that your mission is just to have people live squander free lives without deathbed regrets. So normally I start off our interviews by asking our guests to kind of share their journey and where they got here. And I have a feeling, since I know more about you than our audience does so far, if I asked you instead to talk about why is your company called 4000 Mondays? Because I know that that will probably answer that question of how you got to where you are today.
    Jodi Wellman
We're going to connect to the dots pretty quickly. You're right when I give you the behind the scenes scoop. So 4000 Mondays is roughly all we get in life to live. And I don't know about you, but when we calculate that and see that and then what I like to do without it being overly morbid, I really like for it to be more motivational than morbid. But if we do calculate how many of those Mondays we have left, could that be the thing that actually wakes us up to not just the finite nature of life, which, yeah, that's unfortunate, but that allows us to say, wait a minute, I have this remaining time. It's precious. How can I live it with the greatest intention? And so that 4000 Mondays is the reminder of how temporary we are and then the impetus to say, let's figure out ways to make the most of it.
    Gloria Grace Rand
So I appreciate that. And it is really a startling statistic when you think about it. What led you to calculate that.
    Jodi Wellman
Right? Why that morbid math? Well, I have always been interested in the absurdity of the fact that we are unfortunately not going to live forever. And so when I studied it at the program at University of Pennsylvania, so I studied it within the Masters of Applied Positive Psychology. And I'm going to be super honest with you before you even say it out loud. Wait a minute, how is that related? Positive psychology is about wait a minute, isn't that the study of what makes life worth living? And then here you are talking about mortality. And that's where I just want to say, oh, but wait, give me 1 second, because I did find in researching this topic, this countdown idea that you can't imagine how giddy I got when I thought, wait a sec, there's actually empirical evidence that backs up that this is actually useful for us. And so that gave me, admittedly, a little bit more traction around, oh, this is a real thing, I can work with this. There's psychological science, there's a background to this. And so then I've just taken it and I've sort of overcharged super drive on making this platform to talk to.
    Gloria Grace Rand
People about, well, I love that and I also love how giddy you are at research. I think that was very.
    Jodi Wellman
    A bit of a dork.
    Gloria Grace Rand
Well, that's okay. I like that. I get that way about certain things. I'm fascinated by the study of the brain, for instance. So I love reading up on that. So I have the geeky side to me as well. So tell me a little bit, expand on this a little bit then about the research and the research that then correlates to this and why is it important for us to know about that?
    Jodi Wellman
Okay, great. Thanks for asking. You know, I love it. And so the first chunk that I think makes this relevant, it's a concept called temporal scarcity. And what that is, is when you take something, any kind of resource, any kind of asset, and you say and you position it in such a way that it is elusive or rare or for a limited time only. Like if you're purchasing something, picture any informercial, I suppose there's a limited quantity. When we see something, anything in a limited light, it increases our perceived value of that thing. And so then I would think, well, wait a minute, this is more than a thing. And so there is research around the temporal nature, which temporal just refers to like, span of time, that they've really shown that people who are in college who are primed to recognize that, hey, your college years are going to be over soon. They all of a sudden get out there and start participating in activities in ways that those who are not primed to really stop and say, wait, you've got four months and twelve days left. They just take it for granted and all of a sudden, oh no, college is over. And that's just one study of many. But we do this in life, right? Like, when you're on a vacation, when it's Thursday night, you all of a sudden go, wait a minute, I'm going home on Saturday. I've really got a savor Friday and Saturday morning. And so this is the whole concept of seeing our lives through this lens again without dwelling on the dire part. Actually, we can. There's more evidence there too. But the effect of that countdown triggers for many of us a desire to do this thing right, quote, unquote, which we can discuss too, because there is no right or wrong, right? What's right for you is different than what's right for your neighbor and so on. But but temporal scarcity is really the backbone of why this concept works.
    Gloria Grace Rand
Yeah, that makes sense. And I was just flashing back to my son, actually, when he was in school and how he would wait until the last minute to get things done because all of a sudden it's like, oh crap, I got to get this done. And I know sometimes we're like that in in other aspects of our lives too. And and having a deadline is a good motivator. And and for instance, I used to work in television, so I worked for a news program and so we had to get on the air every day at 6:30 at night, so you had to get things done in time. And the good thing about it is then nothing carried over to the next day or rarely, unless we were doing a series or something. And so then you get to start fresh the next day. And I wonder is how we can treat that, maybe treating each day in a way like that as well, because we never do know when our number's coming up, even though we say you might have 1000 Mondays left or whatever. But we can't really take that for granted, can we? What's your thought about that?
    Jodi Wellman
Oh, my goodness. Yeah, we're on the same wavelength here. This is exciting because the more granular you get sometimes, the more aware you become. And then I think for most of us, it does put us into more of an action sort of orientation. Right? So there are thought experiments where you're commenting on each day being precious. Nietzsche had a thought experiment that I find fascinating. It was called The Eternal Return, where he had said that I won't do the full back story,...

    Gloria Grace Rand
Namaste. I am Gloria Grace Rand, in case you couldn't tell by the same voice that you just heard on the intro is my voice. And I always say delighted. Well, I am delighted. I'm delighted to be here with you again and to have a guest with us on the show. And she is someone that I actually just had the good fortune to spend some time with recently. And we'll talk about that maybe in a little while. But first off, I want to welcome Sheila Murrey to live, love, engage.
    Sheila Murrey
Oh, thank you so much, Gloria. And I'm delighted to be here.
    Gloria Grace Rand
Well, good. I'm so glad. Yeah, I know I've been listening to different - when I listen to the playback of the podcast, and I hear myself say that every week, and I hope you all don't mind me saying that, but I guess it's just because that is how I feel. I love talking to interesting people like our guest today. And so Sheila is an author, a blogger, a health researcher, a singer, and a speaker. And she passionately learns, experiments, and shares from master teachers all things holistic, which she says is whole, W-H-O-L-E wholly. And relating to whole ism with a focus on connecting soul with spirit, mind, and body. And she says, as we embody all wisdom, have spirit and soul align, our consciousness expands and omniscience breathes. I like that. I always love to start our podcast by asking our guests about their journey and why it is they do the things they do. So I'm curious to know from you, even though we've known each other for a little while and spent some time together, we were at a conference earlier this year that Bruce Lipton spoke at and Gregg Braden. And if you don't know who those folks are, Google them. They're amazing people. But I'd still like to know. We didn't really get a chance to learn I didn't really get a chance to learn more about you. So I'd love to know. Yeah. Why do you focus on all things holistic?
    Sheila Murrey
That's such a loaded question, isn't it? Well, it's a deep dive, and you know how people talk about going down a rabbit hole? I think I'm circling the rabbit hole. That's what I'm doing. I'm right on the precipice. I haven't fallen in yet, so I'm still right at the edge in the fringe, but I love that, and I love the space and the opportunity and possibilities that it allows for. So, yes, speaking of Dr. Bruce Lipton, I'm in his community. I love him. I love learning from him. His wisdom just seems to know no bounds. And the reason I love it so much is because I've always felt a sense through my whole life that I was here for a greater purpose, a mission, if you will, in working with a chi gung master several years ago, he's now on the other side. He told me that I'm here to bridge heaven and earth. Well, I believe we all are. So I love using the word all. I love anything that's inclusive, which is kind of tricky these days. It's difficult to navigate because things on the left may not always align with you, and things on the right may not always align with you. But that's okay, because what I've been shown is that and this is through a process of meditation that I go through. What I've been shown, Gloria, is that we truly don't know how long we're going to be here. This is the present moment, the now, which is where our power lies. It's where we are our greatest. So in every interaction, in every conversation that we have, we always have the powerful choice to make. Are we going to give? Are we receiving? Both good. It's all good. What is that energy like, though? And the question that I try to remember to ask myself is, am I coming from a place of ego? Talking about those past accomplishments and credentials and all of that, even my name, even my hair, whether I have makeup on, all of that stuff, all the superficial stuff, right? That's all coming from my ego. It's what I want to project out into the world. Or am I coming from my soul space, my spirit? Am I an open vessel for spirit to flow through? Because in any moment of tenseness, in upset and stress, that's where the choice is. And again, in any communication I have with someone, in any interaction, even driving in the car alone, and someone cuts me off, that's where my choice lies. So it's a practice. I've taken and thrown the word perfection out many years ago. It's all about practicing. Even medical doctors are practicing. So I bring in wholeness, because all of that impacts and what we learned from Dr. Bruce, the body. So how can I expect this body maybe the only one I guess it's the only one I'm going to get in this lifetime anyway. How can I expect it to heal or to even maintain some semblance of health? How can I expect it to do that when I'm constantly bombarding it with thoughts of, well, I'm terrible. I'm not good enough. I didn't do that very good. I could do that better. Oh, I'm not perfect today. Oh, I didn't put this on perfect. Oh, the curl isn't turning this way correctly, right? I spent years blow drying and straightening and curling and rollers this mess of a hair. Now I'm losing my hair. I even shaved my head. My son shaved my head for me during pandemic. So it's really that's why I blog. There's so much we can talk about in this deep dive of this just circling the rabbit hole, much less what's in all the rabbit holes. So there's so much we can talk about that it's a fascinating dive, a fascinating subject, and one that I'm always open to with folks. And I love the feeling of that. Thank you for asking.
    Gloria Grace Rand
I love that there was so much there. And I'm trying to remember now, although I wanted to touch on because when you talk about kind of the different things about things that are bombarding us and do we want to deal with that or we want to come from the Ego or do we want to come from our true self? And I'm actually reading Michael Singer's book Living Untethered right now, and it goes again into talking about again with part of the Buddhist philosophy of the attachment and resistance and things like that, to be able to not have this attachment to the things that bug us. Like you said, when you're talking about people cutting you off in traffic and to be able to manage that, what do you do specifically? I think you did mention meditation. What do you do to help you to be able to navigate this crazy world on a day to day basis?
    Sheila Murrey
Well, again, another wonderful question, because you're right. The attachment is where we tend to find that's where we're going to suffer from. So if we're attached to something and then we don't get it or it leaves us or it passes away, right? We're broken. And I've been in that place where my dad passed away in his sleep at night, totally unexpected. The next day, I felt I was in a black hole. I was totally devastated because it was something that wasn't expected at all. And it happens to folks out there every day. We lose friends, family members, maybe to an illness like the virus or a car accident, and they're gone. So again, it goes back to something I've heard you say about make this moment count, right? Because we don't know how long we have. So what we're attached to, we're physically attaching a subtle energy to, an energy that's unseen. And if we think in terms of the virus look at how this COVID has made us all aware of something that I know we were thinking. If we were aware of the flu and cold and germs and things before, but it's really made us aware of even just walking outside and taking a breath of air that hundreds, thousands of people have breathed and exhaled. And this air is just in the neighborhood, you know, in our local environment. And people have even been scared to walk outside. They've been outside with the masks and so forth. But why? Because we're attached to that feeling of everything has to be well in the world. And now there's this unseen thing floating around in the air and we don't know much about it. So we're scared, we're fearful....

  • Using Flower Essences to Reset Your Bioelectrical System with Nancy Boyd
After years of using flower essences to help herself, Nancy Boyd discovers her talent for creating custom blends to restore balance to others' bioelectrical system.
    Show Notes | Transcript
"Flower essences are liquid preparations created from the energetic electrical properties carried in the petals of a plant, of a flower. They are the only way that you can reset your bioelectrical system and restore balance to your bioelectrical system in a very healthy, natural way." - Nancy Boyd
Nancy Boyd is a multiple award winning writer, healer, 2009 International Coach of the Year and Vision Manifesto. She helps her clients create elegant solutions to complex problems and enjoys exploring the natural world.
Nancy was always curious about natural remedies, and so when she had a health crisis, she turned to flower essences, which work with the body's bioelectrical system, allowing it to reset and restore balance. After her recovery, she realized that others could benefit from the same remedy, and so Nancy trained to become a Flower Essence practitioner. She created custom blends for people, and with them Nancy was able to help people in crisis, including those suffering from depression, to reconnect to their own happiness and health, and to provide a natural way to find relief from physical conditions. She has even developed formulas for the current crises, such as the one for long haul COVID, and a resilience formula for adapting to change.
In this episode, you will learn the following:
How flower essences can be used to reset one's bioelectrical system and restore balance.
The use of flower essences to help people manage depression and anxiety without pharmaceuticals.
The development of a flower essence formula to support recovery from long-haul COVID and help people better manage the stressors and changes of the current global climate.

    Gloria Grace Rand
Namaste. I am Gloria Grace Rand and I've got a guest with us on the show today who I am excited to hear from. I met her recently and I'm really excited to share with you, have her share with you, I should say, some of what she's involved in, but I'm going to tell you more about that in a minute. But first, I want to welcome Nancy Boyd to live, Love, engage.
    Nancy Boyd
Glad to be here. Thank you for having me.
    Gloria Grace Rand
I am, yeah, really intrigued by Nancy's work that she does, but I'm going to tell you a little bit her official bio, I'll share with you first. So she is a multiple award winning writer, healer, 2009 International Coach of the Year and Vision Manifesto. And when she's not busy creating elegant solutions to complex problems for her clients, she enjoys the beautiful natural world and plotting how to make the world shine brighter for everyone. I like that use of the word plotting there, which actually, in a way can also have a natural connotation as well. We've got a plot of land, so it kind of works both ways. Which actually brings me to what I wanted to ask you about because normally I ask our guests to sort of share with us why they do the work they do. And one of the things that intrigued me about you after we met was the fact that you do something called some work with flower essences. And I knew a little bit about them, but not a whole lot. And I would love it if you would share with our audience today what are flower essences, why are they important and maybe why, and most of all, why you got interested in them.
    Nancy Boyd
Sure, those are great questions and there's a lot to cover and there's a lot I could say about them, but let me start with how I got involved with them. And actually I have been involved with them most of my life, off and on. There was something that I learned about probably in my twenties, and as a natural remedy, it was one of the things that I was attracted to, like, oh, let me try this and see what it is and how it works, and had a very nice response to it. And it wasn't until actually I had a health crisis at one point in my career, it was a situation where I had to stop doing whatever I had been doing previously because it interfered and I was not going to be able to continue that way. And during the time of my recovery, I started casting about, well, if I'm not going to do that, what will I do? And one of the things that emerged from that period was when I began to use again, turn to flower essences to help me in my recovery and also to get retrained as a coach. Because that was something that I felt I could do no matter even if I had some restrictions or limitations. It was something that was a potential pathway forward for me. And in that process, I got trained as a coach, and I also got trained and certified as a Flower Essence practitioner. Because one of the things that happened as I began to improve and recover, people said, well, what are you doing? You're looking much better. And I started to tell them about this, my work with Flower Essences and my experiences with them. And it occurred to me that other people would like to know more about it and how it can help them too. And so that drew me into work. And one thing along the way that I discovered, interestingly enough, is that not only do individual flowers work for different situations that you might encounter, but I discovered that I was really good at creating custom blends in working with people and animals and pets. And so that was where I kind of I found my niche, my sweet spot, if you will. So let me take a step back now and answer the question about what are Flower Essences? And I will say right up front that people often get them confused because the word essence confuses people and they'll think about essential oils and the fragrance. That is aromatherapy. And that's another wonderful field. I do a little bit of work with that, but that's not really my in my wheelhouse, if you will, to do. Flower essences are liquid preparations. They are created from the energetic electrical properties carried in the petals of a plant, of a flower. And it's extracted by removing, with permission from the plant, removing the petal from the plant, placing it into a bowl of natural spring water and let the sunlight, natural sunlight infuse the electrical properties into the water. That's how they're created. Then humans or animals can use, take drops of that water and you will get that electrical pattern introduced to your system. And why is this important? It sounds like that's an interesting thing.
    Gloria Grace Rand
Yeah, exactly. But how does that help your body?
    Nancy Boyd
What does it mean? Well, here's something that many people don't know, and it's not taught in medical school. So doctors and caregivers really don't know, don't understand about the principle of bioelectricity. Now, some scientists are going more deeply into this and making a lot of really cool discoveries about it. But the thing is, flower essences, to my knowledge, currently are the only way that you can reset your bioelectrical system. You can support it and you can correct any problems with it. So that if you have anything interfere with your innate energy system, we call it the bioelectrical system. How are you going to fix it? I mean, a lot of times, let's say you just walking through your house and you stub your toe and you go, oh, man. You have a reaction to that, and it hurts, and it gradually feels better. But you may not know to reset your trauma circuits when that happens because you have, in that moment, become traumatized by the pain and the sudden surprise of how bad it feels. You know, in flower essence, there's something that could very quickly put you right back and restore those things. I like to call it like it's very similar to my way of thinking that when something in your system becomes unplugged, the flower essences give you the tools your system needs to put that back where it belongs. So you can return and restore balance to your bioelectrical system using a flower essence or combination of flower essences that address those particular areas. And how do we know to do that? Well, every plant, every flower has its own purpose and carries a bioelectrical signature in its system, in its petals that will speak directly to something. Let me just make it real simple. Like the Zinnia flower, which is real common flower, right? The electrical properties that it carries is to help you remember how to be happy again. And you will find this flower often in a formula for depression. For example, along with maybe some other flowers, because it will help you plug back into whatever has come apart in your biological system so that you've forgotten what it's like to be happy. Well the zinnia will tell you. It just gives you some of those drops and very easily your system knows where to find the information again. It will inform you about what's going on and how to change that problem if it has become a problem for you. So this is the simple principles. It's like a way to reconnect your electrical system in a very healthy, natural way. And the beauty of them,...
