“Food doesn't just affect the body. It also affects the mind.”
Today, our host, Kelly Meehan explores the link between gluten and mental health and walks us through the most common diseases gluten may lead to and why a gluten-free diet could be a powerful tool for those experiencing certain chronic conditions.
When Kelly’s youngest daughter started experiencing mood swings, irritability, and joint pain, she was utterly mystified. That was until her celiac disease diagnosis opened her eyes to the potent link between gluten and mental health. Her daughter’s journey through gluten withdrawal and the subsequent improvement in her mental clarity was an eye-opener that showed the very real impact that gluten can have on our brain as well as our body.
Gluten-induced inflammation may contribute to conditions like anxiety, depression, and brain fog. By considering gluten sensitivity as a potential root cause, it may help to try a gluten-free diet before immediately turning to long-term medication. At the same time, it’s important to know how to test for gluten sensitivity in the first place.
“To truly heal, we must shift our focus from ‘one-size-fits-all’ to the individual.”
Kelly wraps up by unpacking the gut-brain axis and the ins and outs of both celiac and non-celiac gluten sensitivity. From there, we learn how to supercharge gut health with foods like bone broth and fermented vegetables while simultaneously eliminating gluten from the diet.

“Gratitude is not about ignoring the struggles. It’s about being able to hold space for the hard and the beautiful, about acknowledging that while life is messy, there are still things worth celebrating. Gratitude says, ‘Yes, this is hard, but I can still see what’s good.’”
How far can an attitude of gratitude go in rewiring your brain, calming your central nervous system, and improving your physical health?
Our host, Kelly Meehan, walks us through the incredible, science-backed benefits of gratitude and how it not only calms the brain's fear center but also helps transition the nervous system from a stress-laden state to one of restoration.
You’ll walk away with actionable steps to embed gratitude into your day-to-day routine. This isn't about striving for perfection–after all, there’s no such thing as “perfect.” Rather, your goal is to achieve consistency in your daily gratitude practice, which leads to peace, clarity, and resilience amidst the chaos of life.

“Your body is uniquely designed with its own blueprint for health and healing.”
After years of watching her daughter struggle with unexplained health issues, our host Kelly Meehan, decided to take matters into her own hands. Traditional lab results had always deemed her "normal," but her symptoms told a different story.
By seeking a second opinion from a naturopath, Kelly uncovered hidden health issues that standard tests had missed. This experience transformed her perspective on health and taught her the importance of looking for optimal levels, not just normal ones. Her story is a testament to the benefits of functional blood chemistry and how it can reveal your true health in a way conventional medicine often isn’t able to achieve.
“In general, we don’t go to conventional doctors for ‘proactive’ medicine, but ‘reactive’ medicine.”
Listen in as Kelly explains how American-standard lab ranges may sometimes offer a false sense of security, and why comprehensive testing is crucial for unearthing hidden health concerns.
Finally, through a recent experience with a client, she drives home how blood sugar dysregulation and liver health can be addressed with targeted interventions–and illustrates the power of functional blood chemistry in treating the whole person, and not just isolated symptoms!
