Designed to Last: Taking it to 11

Kicking off this week’s episode with a hot take, Ashley and Dino of @arrowsandbow are talking about flexing the muscle of apologizing, before getting into the fun topic at hand: The Pancake Challenge. They break down how it came to be, how their first ever try at the challenge went, and what they learned from it. Ash and Dino also share how dying to ourselves and serving other people leads you to real joy and why the goal of the challenge is to love serving your spouse the way Christ loves the church. Then they encourage you to take the challenge as well.

Ashley and Dino are back from their vacation and after some time to reflect, they want to break down the importance of getting through tough times and trials with your spouse. The pair discusses how these trials can come from external forces pushing their way in or scenarios you’re choosing to put yourself through together, but nevertheless it's important to remember that your spouse is not your enemy. They delve into how hard times can be an opportunity for growth and bonding that’ll ultimately bring you closer together and close to the Lord.

Ashley (@arrowsandbow) and Dino kick off this week’s episode with a little check in on how they’re doing this summer, which leads them to an unplanned conversation about alone time. With the two getting ready to head out on a vacation sans kids, they discuss why they firmly believe having alone time as a couple is crucial to having a healthy, thriving marriage. The two break down their intentions for their getaway and what they’re hoping to get out of it when it comes to deepening their relationship with each other and deepening their relationship with God.

Today the duo – Ashley and Dino of @arrowsandbow – are tackling the topic of physical discipline and how it affects all areas of life. Dino talks about his deeper reasoning for wanting to find physical discipline and be active in his walk and how that overflows into all other aspects of their life, such as their marriage, their kids, etc. The two also briefly touch on complementarian vs. egalitarian views and how that plays a part in Dino’s role in leading the family.

This week on the podcast, Ashley and Dino give an update into how Ash has really been feeling since starting her social media fast. She talks about how having the extra time has had her feeling hungry for the Lord and really leaning into and seeking after him. And Dino shares the changes he’s seen in her, as well changes they’ve seen in their family. They break down what prompted this first prolonged social media fast since starting @arrowsandbow and why we need to stop striving. The two also give insight into how they distinguish the difference between working as hard as you can unto the Lord and striving. 

Ashley and Dino are back and this week they’ve taken this show on the road and they’re hyping each other up. They’re discussing what it means to take your thoughts captive – because everything starts with your thoughts. And then the two get into why it's important to constantly be gassing up your spouse, whether it's in your own mind, verbally to them, or in your words, thoughts, and actions. Piggy backing off of last week’s episode of removing sin from your marriage Ashley and Dino continue the conversation. Dino retouches on how many men will lean towards visual and physical temptation of other women, and then hands the mic to Ash, asking what the female equivalent of that is. Ashley takes it back before the beginnings of @arrowsandbow to when she used to rely on materialism to fulfill her. She touches on how needing to find her identity through things was a barrier between her and Dino, and how stripping all of that away and moving into the trailer reframed her mindset. To end, the two share the ways they are working on building intimacy between each other.

This week on Designed to Last, Ashley and Dino are diving into a topic that’s a little tougher: removing the sin from your marriage. After Dino gives his hot take that references last week’s episode of goal setting, the two open up about how they’ve gone about choosing to be open and honest to each other about their respective sins. What does Dino mean when he says he keeps the tally at zero? How does Ash choose to move through these more difficult moments with love and understanding? What are high walls? And of course, in true @arrowsandbow fashion, the two are always working on taking it to 11.

Then they dive into the big topic for the week, which is all about goals. The importance of having them, intentionally thinking about them, and above all else, dreaming together as a couple. They share steps for hitting reset on those goals when you're in a rut, and why it's important to keep in mind what things COULD be like while you're sacrificing the things you want now for the things you want most.
