Where've I been? I took the summer off. The better question is why. Maintaining balance has always been a struggle, this summer I tried to figure it out and I think it was a success.

This episode has been a long time coming! A couple months back I was scrolling through my Instagram feed and came across some pretty cool things that popped out at me. They all happened to be designed by my friend Marnie Weintz.

Today's rant is less of a rant and more of a positive vibe being sent in the direction of the many UX candidates who I've had the opportunity to know over the last month or so.

I had such a blast with this opportunity to speak at Product Hive. Utah has such an amazing design community that you can join at no cost. This presentation got really technical, but for those who can speak mobile app design, you'll be able to get some insights and tips about learning when to go custom or native in your app design/build.

Over the last couple weeks, I've discovered a concept that I've finally been able to put into words. This is something I feel I lacked as a new designer who was coming from the business world where the books either balanced or they didn't. There was always a right answer and a wrong answer. For the most part, things were always black and white.

Back on the show is my friend Jacob Jorgenson, a designer turned iOS developer. We got on a subject today we are both passionate about which is app simplicity.

Today I've got a little rant for you. Something I hear quite often is how "micromanaged" designers feel. It's something I dealt with early in my career. I've got a few suggestions for you to get past it.
